Just subscribed after watching this video. I'd also like to campervan along the NC500 in autumn later on this year so I was looking for info on youtube. Thank you for such an informative video and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Happy driving! :)
Occurs to me on almost every video how lucky Ady is to have this start in life, lucky little thing. And, this video is hopefully the start of yet another great series albeit a "mini series"? Long forward to following your travels :)
I did the NC500 this summer and had a great time! If I could do it again i’d try and do a whole month rather than just a week... just so many beautiful places we wish we had more times to stop!
as i’m getting halfway through the video i can see you stopped in Ben Eigghe.... that’s the number one spot we wish we had stopped in 😂 super jealous but happy you guys had a good time!
Hari Om "Ben Aig" - you were close! The 500 delivers again! Corrieshalloch is one of the best hidden views in this Bonny Land, but I agree, James, about the knee-knocking nature of it! Ady is becoming quite the video star - big huggies from 'aunty'. YAM xx
We’ve been wanting to do it for so long and it hasn’t disappointed! Absolutely gorgeous all the way round and so many fantastic things to see and do. Corrieshalloch is terrifying but worth it, an incredible natural wonder. We’re hoping Ady will take over making the videos soon 😅 Hugs back ❤️
I'm looking forward to this series as the NC500 is on my list of things to do. As a newbie, I was wondering how safe it is camping outside of a campsite? What security would you recommend?
It’s very safe, we’ve never had any issues in Scotland whatsoever. And a lot of the highlands is pretty remote too. There are also quite a few council car parks that you can pay about a tenner to stay in plus plenty of small, private campsites that are reasonably priced too. But if you pick the right spots you won’t have any problems 👍
Two weeks planned in September. Second time doing the NC500 but first time in the van (instead of camping every night) woop! Was just wandering if you know the name of the waste disposal point you used near the little fishing boats? 😊 Thanks for the lovely video guys. Can’t wait to go!
Haha, you might not have noticed but we don’t do much to camera with all three of us any more for this exact reason! Ady just chats away the whole time 🤣🤣 She definitely stole that intro 😀
Thank you for such a nice video. We also plan to do the NC 500 around the end of July this year. We were unable to get any booking in campsites and were worried as to where we would park but u guys seem to park just anywhere which is a relief. Did u use any apps to show free motorhome parking? and for dump sites as well? Also how much did u guys spend on fuel if u don't mind me asking? thanks again.
Hi there, we’re glad you enjoyed it! We didn’t really struggle for places to stay but we need to stress that we went out of season. End of July is peak time so we imagine that a lot of the park ups we stayed in will be pretty busy too so we don’t want to give you a false impression of how it might be for you as we deliberately avoided high season. We generally use the park4night app to find places in the UK. Hope this is helpful ☺️
We have loved this video. Inspires us to go. Hendo’s should be put in any kind of stew or casserole but I love it best on cheese on toast. It’s from Sheffield! Love Beks
Bit late watching your video, but Hendersen's, while very similar to Worcestershire Sauce and you use it exactly the same way, I personally think it tastes so much better, but then I'm biased as I live in Sheffield where it is made. My understanding is that you can only buy it in Sheffield and surrounding areas normally, which is why not many people would have heard of it, did you pass through Sheffield on your way up to Scotland and picked it up there? Hope you enjoyed it
Ok that makes sense. We’ve heard that some people love it so much they put it on everything! It’s definitely good. We actually picked it up in Yorkshire, we’ve seen it as far north as North Yorkshire and as far south as Nottingham but it’s still a pretty small area it’s sold it. Makes it feel a bit more exclusive 😀😅
Nice Video , glad you enjoyed My back yard, Pretty sure i may have passed you van, whilst cruising around a few weeks ago (Might Be wrong though as i was on the west coast a few weeks ago
That may well have been us, timeframe is about right. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Although you probably spend a lot of time around there if it’s local to you 😀
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing yeah i love it up here live on the east about 40 mins north of inverness and every time i go cruising still always finding something new
Fantastic, we are looking forward to doing the NC500 when we get back from Mexico City. Just read your blog on how to get to Teotetchuan Pyramids from Mex city, following your route tomorrow by metro & bus 🤞🤞 Thanks for the tips ❤
Oh amazing! Hope you enjoyed the pyramids, they’re an incredible sight. And also that the blog was useful for getting there. We rely on feedback from people who use it to update it so if you do have anything to add or correct please let us know 😀❤️
Ah amazing. We actually met a couple there who have spent the past 5 months in the highlands and said it was a breeze. They were going between a few amazing park ups and had found mainly free services that they could use and just loved it. Even in the winter 😀
That sounds like perfection to me. I was hoping to do it sooner but decided to wait until I've added a few things to the van for peace of mind. I might have to start learning how to vlog though, my videos are just to document the build process but for that trip it warrants something better.
@@AMGMANIAC go for it! It can be a lot of fun and is amazing even just to have a video record of where you’ve been and what you’ve done. And can’t think of many more beautiful places to start either 😀
Hi guys great vlog again. Been trying to find your video with your little magnetic cctv cameras you installed . Do you have any links to the vlog and where you got them ?
Ah thank you ☺️ The cctv cameras we have now aren’t actually the ones we originally installed. We had some issues with them just randomly turning on by themselves which was a little scary, so we replaced them with a brand called iGeek that we bought off Amazon. One of them is an iGeek 360 and the other is the wireless 2k security. We would recommend this brand as we’ve been pretty pleased with them. Let us know if you have any other questions about them. Oh and te main reason we chose them is because they don’t need to be wired in, we charge them every few months and that’s it 👍
Brilliant vlog , well put together ,subscribed now ,this is on my bucket list ,need to do home work on a few things ,MIDGES , TEMP at night , is there a app to tell you were you can empty toilet, I see you have two cassettes for your toilet is it necessary, keep up the GREAT VLOGS. Will be watching from North Devon 😊👍☮️❤️👋👍👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Definitely a bucket list trip for us too and it really lived up to the hype. We didn’t see any midges fortunately but we’ve come across them before in Scotland, awful critters! Definitely take it into consideration with what time of year you plan to go. We actually only have one cassette, the other bit is our top tank but we do know people who have two. We just resign ourselves to stopping on a campsite when it needs emptying. We’ve not found an app specifically for service points but we use park4night and filter it on black and grey waste. Not many specific empty points up that way though, we only found a couple. Devon is definitely on our list to visit ❤️
Hi. We are making our way back home after 3 and a half weeks touring the NC500 route and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. We are already making plans to come back again next year. The weather has been better than we expected. The scenery, as you say is fantastic. Thanks for the video. What month was it when you visited?
Glad you had a good time, we absolutely loved it too. Even better than we’d imagined it would be. We were talking about going back again in the future too! There’s just so much to do and see that you could spend a lifetime going back each year and do new things every time. We just got back last week so it was end of last month we were there, may have even crossed paths with you at some point 😀
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing There is a chance then, that our paths crossed. We would have recognised you if we had seen you. We started off going in a clockwise direction, but had an issue with our campervan and went to Inverness to get a battery jumpstarter(as "insurance"), before continuing in an anticlockwise direction. Plenty of free overnight park ups, but we have to say that we have been disturbed by the regularity that we have seen litter in some park ups😠. Not saying it is people in campervans and MHs-just disappointing to see in such beautiful places. Happy travels to you and thank you for the videos
Can I ask, do you know the name of the place you stopped at where you saw the deer? Or a rough idea? We are planning our route currently and we would love to stop here 😊
We can go one better, here’s the listing on park4night - park4night.com/lieu/121388/ but it’s in a place called Garve if you don’t use that, this is the postcode listed IV23 2QY. We’d definitely recommend it, one of our favourite park ups on the 500 🙌
I never heard of Henderson sauce 🤔 How was it? I loved that last hike but as usual James I would be a little nervous going out on the lookout too! Bridge looked okay but I couldn't look down! I was hoping to get to Scotland this year (would have been there in April) but looks like next year hopefully. Going to enjoy your videos while you're there.😊
The Henderson’s was great! But it is very similar to Worcestershire sauce 😅 The bridge and lookout were probably both better than they seemed to look at but still pretty terrifying! Really how you make it to Scotland next year, such a lovely country ❤️
Hi Guys. We really enjoy your posts, so do keep them coming! We have just set off on a year in our newly-converted Sprinter, and are interested to know what you do your filming on. Not a phone, I would guess… Thanks!
I've been doing the applecross several times due to my job. And a lot of tourists from the continent having never drove on single track became an issue. When the NC 500 became famous more and more bikes and campers drove there and created accident. I have seen ppl stopping right in the middle and going for selfies or petting the Highland coos. In August it's just unbearable. Local must be pissed sometimes by the poor behaviour of the visitors. It's an absolute beauty tbh and the pub on applecross has not really changed much. The food and pints are very nice 👍 but you have to beware where you park can be packed sometimes
It’s definitely a shame that some people behave like that. It’s a very difficult issue the problems that the NC500 causes and we completely understand there must be a lot of frustrations amongst residents. Definitely a stunning spot though and we really enjoyed the applecross inn ☺️
One of the many things that the Scots detest is ignorant English camper driver's, no respect for no parking areas, tipping your rubbish any were, some even empty the chemical toilet on the road, in parking places, in the fields, I sympathise with the Scots over this problem, the English should remember the empire is no more and there attitude is unexceptable, Scottish Highlands are beautiful and should be enjoyed, and not abused by ignorant camper car owners.
