This Greek lady can do no wrong! That her band is here intertwined with members of Snarky Puppy merely serves to demonstrate the respect with which she is held by the cream of jazz musicians throughout the world. It's nice to have a brass section and extra percussion added to Banda Magdas' already superb line-up.
it's a very good job! it's not easy to change a masterpiece without ruining it and making it a brand new masterpiece it's also a surprise, i did not know that in USA a great band could know old italian LPs also the italian speech is pretty good :-) ... sorry for my english...
Loosely translated: Remember when you were a kid and mom and day would scare you with the boogie man and send you to punishment? So you pass by punishment WITH NO FEAR. And then you "came to age" and what was easy gets difficult and you see that life is hard, but you pass by love WITH NO FEAR. And you see the road is perilous, and the car pass by you and you just get to walk faster [this is a reference to Brazilian dictatorship repression] so you cross the road WITH NO FEAR. And then all of a sudden you get the "telegram", and "she" is calling… but you pass by death WITH NO FEAR. Another work of genius by Vinicius de Moraes, one that sounds even better in Italian (versed by Bardotti).
Could you upload the lyrics to this song? I am currently learning italian and would like to use this song to practice! Some parts I still don't get that well...
+Hector Jimenez Hey Hector... its an Alleva Coppollo bass, and there are several outlets in the States. Check out their website for dealers/distributors near you. Great basses that deserve a much wider recognition. (He used it on "Something" with Lalah Hathaway on the Family Dinner Vol1 sessions too.
Toquinho is a brazilian guitarist and singer. And he is the composer of this song. He run away from Brazil in the 70s and he became famous in Italy. Before leaving Brazil for political reason, he played with some of the best bossa nova players ever. So if it sounds like Gilberto Gil to you... You're right. Maybe he played with him too and he shared some knowledge :D

At around 2:58, is that just like a minor pentatonic scale that Michael League plays? So jazzy. Love it.
I have no clue what the lyrics mean, but these songs' arrangements are brilliantly done.
