Affected players are ALL of us! The time for legal action against EA is coming. This is an issue for competition and consumer laws. I'm actually considering writing a journal article about the monopoly markets within these games. At some point these markets will get regulated because these games are getting bigger and bigger and companies cannot be allowed to remain unregulated.
Warranted for sure, but unfortunately unlikely to stick. EA will say the content and in-game market uses an in-game currency (coins) as a medium of exchange, and since you can't directly buy coins (from EA xd), the coins have no real-world value so such laws wouldn't be applicable. It is for this reason EA is able to sell gambling to children, but it's not gambling apparently because money buy fifa point, fifa point buy pack, pack give player, sell player get coin, and as we established before, coins don't have a real-world value (according to EA xd), so the 12 year old who just bought 18500 fifa points on mums credit card and blasted through it in 10 mins with nothing but fodder to show....... is not gambling because they were only ever buying packs containing in game items. It can't possibly be gambling, since these in game items don't have value outside of the game.... apparently..... Yes, some form of legal intervention is absolutely necessary, but probably needs to be some regulatory reform with legislation that is fit for purpose before there is any chance of EA being held accountable. And it isn't just EA. Similar predatory tactics and excuses are everywhere in gaming nowadays, but legislation in most countries simply hasn't kept up.
Except Belgium..fifa points are banned here. The Eu should step up and ban it across all eu countries.. the Americans can keep the ea store and fifa points, cuz they love capitalism and de regulation. Maybe if you all played the game like we do in Belgium, u wouldn't be buying this shit game every year.. the last Ea game I spent money on was fifa 22.. I think Haaland was guaranteed (100%) out of that pack. Anyone who got Haaland did not have a chance of packing any other Winter Wildcard, even though the pack promises to give you ANY Winter Wildcard. This is different from the TOTY Messi situation, because Messi was not guaranteed, just very high odds. Of course we don't know this for sure, because we don't have a large enough sample size, but it would make sense why they compensated this and not the Messi. They legally (I think) have to, because the pack did not give cards as promised. Since we do not see odds, the Messi player pick was as promised to the playerbase, just with messed up odds (which we don't see, so no promises on odds, hence no compensation necessary). It would probably be comparable if 100% of those player picks were 3x Messi. Then, according to this logic, they would have had to compensate for the mistake. Because, again, there would not have been a chance to get anyone else, even though the player pick promised it.
Right decision would have been to offer players that opened the Haaland-Pack an SBC where they can trade their Haaland-Item against a new WW-Card-Pack. This would generate a status quo. The way EA handled it is poor and wrong in way to many ways.

That's why incompetence and mistakes is difficult to believe when they happen in this manner. Under consumer laws if something is faulty or not fit for purpose you have a number of options to remedy the issue. The clearest is to simply regard what happened as a mistake on the part of the company and give a replacement to the consumer. That's what they always do. It doesn't cost them anything so why not. It hurts the rest of us but who cares about that.
They should make a SBC for the affected players. "Exchange your Haaland" for another WW card.. Am not sure what EA should do, remove all Haalands given out, and make them have a new pack? Would be even stranger?

Mate this game feels impossible to play now. button delay is through the rood, tackles from behind are better??? passing is still trash even with players that have 99. the auto pressing in this game is CRAZY like EVERONE and their moms are marked for 90 mins. I can honestly go on, but it would just be sad.
@ FC24 was better then this be real. There is no attacking AI. The bounce backs are somehow even worse. Your players perform differently EVERY game. The auto press just locks you in your own half for most of the game. Don’t even try with “skill issue”.
surely the fairest thing to do would be release an an objective that requires one game played and you got an 88 or 89+ winter wildcard pick or pack, i understand EA have the moral compass similar to bin laden but that is just a no brainer to me

Them giving you another pack etc literally costs them NOTHING. Compensation means you'd get your money back. In this case, this was a pack you got for free anyway. I have never seen a company so aggressively screw over the majority of their paying customers as much as EA Sports do. It is truly incredible how little they care about their customer base, except for finding ways to fleece them of all their money, including children.

I’ve survived longer this game cycle by playing with only a Liverpool past and present/evo team and it’s made it WAY more fun!!! And to top it off packed 88 Suarez in my rivals rewards this morning so I’m happy for now 🎉
Yeah just do whatever you like. Win loss matters so little now. I’m using 81 rated players in div 4 and having fun. If I lose I don’t bother getting angry because their ai is too strong

Dirty confession: I got haaland (don't act like you wouldn't do the same if you had 2 rush games left and were online at content when it was going down...) I received the compensation pack. Same as the pack i got the haaland from afaik (88 mainoo this time). I do not know why I received the compensation pack since I packed haaland. I figured they must've removed the haaland from my club which is fair enough. Checked after opening the comp pack and nope still there. I'm genuinely perplexed. Do EA just not understand the problem and failed to identify who got the long and short sides of the stick? Like if it isn't that, then they have to be trolling or something. It completely defies any and all logic... PS: Haaland is trash. They def nerfed him or something im not sure. Some will try and tell you that you aren't using him properly and that he cooks when hes used properly. But heres the thing: gold rashford can cook when hes 'used properly'.... there are PLENTY of very affordable cards that are not only capable of playing similarly to haaland, but do so without the countless drawbacks and often some added perks (i.e. socrates w/ incisive, 5* sm, similar height, way better passing and dribbling, and honest to god feels faster than haaland in game...... you will not believe me unless you also did the socrates sbc and also used this haaland card..... it is actual dogwater)

People buy and sell items on it using a currency and FC points can be arguably be regarded as a form of currency like crypto. It can be exchanged for money so it has real world value. There are companies that sell FC points, and EA directly exchanges them for money, so that's a market.
