I made my first trip to the shop last saturday. The staff was cool, Anthony greeted me as soon as i walked through the door. This place is really cool. Tons of music. I also spoke w/ Anthony about Quicksand, as i purchased their 30th anniversary Slip release. I will be back and recommemd this shop to everyone who loves music.
@@LD-kr8vf a couple years ago Brendan had a let’s meet up at the record store event and I traveled from California to New Jersey my first trip back east in my whole life and the joy of visiting Sound Exchange and meeting. Brendan and Anthony were awesome. Anthony is a first class guy, and I enjoy the videos that he participates in
Yes, 1997, Buell Theater in Denver. Twenty minutes after the concert was over the crowd started spontaneously cheering out in the parking garage. No one wanted to leave and let go of the experience.
You know, Anthony makes a good point about taking video of the concert and never watching it. I have tons of video on my phone from concerts. Do I ever watch them no but I have good memories.
I still have mine and I do look at them. When I pass away, I know my family will look at them and see what I have done. The cloud has all the great memories of the music and bands I have seen over the years. If they take those and play the music it will be a great soundtrack for sure.
My Dad took me to a Loving Oldies Concert in Houston , the old 94.5 Oldies Station . It was all day event and would start my love for guitar and music . To see Little Richard , John Fogerty , Beach Boys and Chuck Berry , absolutely life changing . I then would see the Buddy Holly Story with Gary Busey .. there I went and have stayed .. Rock N Roll Forever , yall
First time seeing UFO, back in the day, with the great Schenker... What a gig, best live band I ever saw, every head in the place banging from start to finish, pure joy. These days I'm into opera and classical, but what you gonna do, lol.
Spring 2023 HAUNT, NIGHT DEMON & SATAN played in Grand Rapids MI. I rented a car and had a really nice drive over there (my first solo trip in that direction). I can't tell you how awesome the experience of this show was. These 3 bands all mean a lot to me, Traditional Metal at it's finest! I made sure I "represented" by wearing the coolest metal gear in my arsenal. HAUNT opened with a great energetic set (it's not easy being the opening band, but they held there own as I new they would). During their set, I noticed Russ Tippons the guitarist from SATAN standing outside the back stage door, enjoying the tunes. Next up was NIGHT DEMON and before they took the stage, Jarvis Leatherby the lead singer/bassist walked past me by their merch table. I just said "Hey Jarvis" and he patted me on the shoulder "hows it goin'"... like a "thanks for the support, we appreciate you" kind of thing. Minutes later on a dimly lit stage, the intro to their new album played, as I braced myself for the awesomeness that was about to hit me. About 1/2 way through NIGHT DEMON's opening song, things went supernova. I was standing there rockin' out, and I looked over to my left, and standing next to me also rockin' out, who is it? It's Russ from SATAN. After I had a freak out in my mind "oh my god, oh my god... that's Russ Tippons!" I quickly decided I wasn't going to bother him and that's when I realized something. It's one thing that one of the best lead guitar players ever is standing next to you at a show, but what made it so much friggin' cooler, is that he was enjoying the band on stage as much as I was, as a fan. The dude is in the headlining band that's playing next, and he's out there in the crowd pumpin' his fist totally in the METAL moment! I couldn't keep quiet for too long. I thought of something to say when the time was right. There was a quiet interlude thing with thunder and lightning to set up the next song, and I was like it's now or never. I turned to him and said "Hey Russ". He looked over and I was like "Check it out dude!" and I pointed to both sides of my battle vest where there are 2 different versions of SATAN's logo. He looked at each and gave me a nod of approval and a fist bump. Again, I'm totally freaking out in my mind. The next song kicked in and suddenly the show was super charged! Singin' along, more fist pumpin'. They kicked into one of their new songs and I was like "Dude! This is "Escape From Beyond" and Russ was like "It's "Beyond The Grave". No way! He new the songs better than me! As the NIGHT DEMON set ended, Russ and I got to talkin' about METAL, and another dude in the crowd noticed who he was and got in on the discussion. I was pointing to different bands on my vest and Russ pointed to one of the SATAN logos and was like "That's the one from our "Kiss Of Death" single!" I didn't have much mind to be blown after that! Russ had to go because they were on next... he was the coolest! SATAN showed everyone in the crowd why they were the headliners. Their debut album came out 40 years ago, and that same line-up is together today! A lot can be said about 5 dudes who have been stoked about writing and preforming together that long. In conclusion, I left that show knowing it might have been the best I've ever experienced. There was a camaraderie among the bands and the fans that I love about those smaller shows. It's kind of ironic that the price of the ticket was less than 1/4 of the METALLICA show I saw a few years back... yet the amount of METAL MANIA was equal.
My favorite experience was seeing the Flaming Lips in a small club in the early days of the Clouds Taste Metallic tour. Strobing Christmas lights came on throughout the club as the first song " The Abandoned Hospital Ship" kicked in after it's subdued intro. That moment is forever burned into my memory. It wasn't the same when that tour returned a few months later in a larger venue; the effect was lost.
It took almost 50 years to get front row with meet and greet for KISS and ALICE COOPER, It was worth the wait.I get to meet ALICE again in Greensboro on February 2 can't wait !
Who called Anthony an asshole? That was a dick move! Don't Be A Dick! Dude! They provide us a wonderful video from the owners perspective at a record store. Come on, have respect all! Stop the hate! Enjoy their company or just not watch please.
Best concert experience was Iron Maidens "Somewhere on Tour" tour in January 1987...I was 16. Me and a buddy had backstage passes and met the band. All of the band members were very cool and signed autographs for us. Nicko McBrain and Bruce Dickinson were the coolest of the group, but all of them were very nice. Also the concert was awesome!
There are two or three concerts that stand out in particular: Elton John in Boston in 2005 was a 3 1/2 hour concert where he was celebrating the 30th Anniversary of CAPTAIN FANTASTIC AND THE BROWN DIRT COWBOY. He opened the show with 8 tracks from his newest album PEACHTREE ROAD and then played 8 tracks from CAPTAIN FANTASTIC AND THE BROWN DIRT COWBOY...then 16 songs from his long catalogue. Incredible! Lindsey Buckingham in Toronto in 1993 on his OUT OF THE CRADLE tour was a powerful show. He toured with a very large band that barely fit on the Phoenix Concert Hall stage! Seeing DARK SIDE OF THE MOON in its entirety in 2006 performed by Rogers Waters was phenomenal. David Gilmour in Toronto in 2016 on his RATTLE THAT LOCK tour was magical.
One of the best: Faith No More opening for Soundgarden and VoiVod in some club (Jan. 1990). I stood and chatted with Matt Cameron through VoiVod’s set. I can’t think of any “worst” shows, but I’ve had concert companions who made the show bad. One example: I had a friend who was tall and intimidating to people. He would place me in front of him and push us through the crowd to get to the front of the stage. He would then proceed to spit on the band whether he liked them or not. He also liked to throw his beer on the performers, too. I watched him completely soak Vinnie Vincent in beer as he played a solo at the edge of the stage.
Lets see The Who at MSG 3/11/76 is probably my all time favorite. But Pink Floyd doing Animals as MSG on 7/3/77 is a close second. Gang of Four at Roseland 12/29/81 is another. Just a few of my all time favorites!! I have tons of faves from The Specials to The Clash to Elvis Costello to New Order to Yo La Tengo ….so many great shows.
“Maybe I can show these other assholes my assholeness.” Classic line by Anthony. 😂. At 59 years old, if I can still get close to the stage, I will. But then again, the bands I tend to enjoy have fellow fans that are at the AARP age. lol
Best concert experience ever was my parents took me to see KISS at the Cow Palace in 1977!!! My 2nd one is Van Halen 1984. The Van Halen show spent the night out side in the cold (Illinois) to get the tickets!!!! The good old days
One concert that comes to mind as I was watching this video for me is KoRn with Limp Bizkit and Protest The Hero opening. It was all general admission and the concert venue was originally used as an airport hangar. I was in high school and went with some buddies and it was nuts. We moshed, we headbanged and jumped up and down all over the place to the point I could barely walk the next day. Good times. Worst comcert experiences is similar to what Brandon said, dealing with drunk people who ruin it for you by acting like idiots and spilling beer all over you.
The Press Pass idea is interesting to know. Creates another reason to create a TH-cam Channel and post pieces of a concert, but do it right or as right as you can. Help the band sell their albums as part of it, through your channel or a record store. Umm it's a thought to ponder over and research about the many possibilities. Never thought of waiting for the band members by the tour buses to met them and get autographs and chat with them. I'm amazed how open minded Anthony is about stuff. I dig that Anthony allows video to be done while the store is open. It all goes back to Anthony's favorite saying: "Don't be a Dick" Think about others and the bigger picture.
Concerts that evoke great memories for me: AC/DC 1978 Hammersmith Odeon with my uncle, I was 14 and it was my first one (and only time I saw Bon live). Monsters of Rock 1980, 1984 and 1988. Blizzard of Ozz, Hammersmith Odeon 1980. Still have the original two sided tour poster I got. Maiden 1981 Killers world tour, my fave Maiden album, 1982, first time seeing Bruce. Knebworth 1990, seeing Pink Floyd for the third time, but the rest were good too, including McCartney! Last great concert was Testament (with Exodus and Death Angel) in 2020, Bristol Edit: I forgot to say the worst: Motörhead, Another perfect tour, St Austell….so loud it was a wall of white noise, shame really, love Motörhead
2+ hours later and I'm still flipping through memories. How does someone who's natural leaning is to be invisible end up having so many crazy/unique/amazing experiences? The list is long,..
Here’s my best off the top of my head……… KISS- 77 (Alive II Tour- First concert) KISS-83 (Creatures Tour) Rush- (Hemispheres-Grace Under Pressure Tours) Van Halen- (W/Children-1984 Tours) Ozzy- (Blizzard-Ultimate Sin Tours) including warmup acts of Motörhead in 81 Motley Crue in 83 and Metallica in 86 88- Cinderella/Winger/Bulletboys (stood right up against the stage looking at the great Tom Kiefer killing it) David Lee Roth/Poison- 88 (Like a huge party) KISS- 89 (Hot In The Shade Tour AMAZING setlist) Queensryche- 91 (Empire tour played the entire Operation Mindcrime album) Ozzy- 91 (No More Tears Tour) KISS- 96 (Reunion Tour Alice In Chains warmup act) Rush- 96 (Test For Echo tour played all of 2112 side) KISS- 97 (Reunion Tour) Alice Cooper- 2000, 2005, 2008 (all AMAZING) Worst Molly Hatchet- 81 (Take No Prisoners Tour) sound was awful E.L.O.- 81 (Time Tour) Borrrrrimg 🥱 always heard they had a great light show NOT!!!!
Hi my best concert experience was 1980 Blizzard of Oz tour with Motorhead in Buffalo after the concert we followed Ozzys tour bus and at a bar got Ozzy and Randy s autograph coming out we only had a Canadian dollar bill and my girlfriend s eye liner but we got them at 17 was a great thrill.🇨🇦🇺🇲
Top 3 concerts? Marillion, Alice Cooper & Styx. I really enjoyed a Chris Rice concert eons ago, but the memory is tainted by what looks to be confirmed allegations of child molestation. That memory is ruined due to that.

I agree, only been there once, but planning another trip. An excellent place to find some great music. Hope to meet Anthony next time.

still no need to see and endure these days live shows. One should be excited and enjoy the concert
