I experienced a period of delirium a few weeks before Xmas 2016. I live alone and my daughter had been trying to ring me for several days, however I have no recollection of what happened other than I must have fallen at some point and my daughter found me slumped over my computer desk. She rang an ambulance and the hospital staff were fantastic. My daughter told them I was totally different to my normal self and they immediately started treating me for delirium and also found I'd had a heart attack. The tests they ran were comprehensive. They immediately commenced intravenous antibiotics despite not knowing what infection I had. I have no recollection of what happened for 4 days but the delirium started to pass and I started going back to "normal" on the 5th day. It was a shocking experience for me and also for my daughter. The biggest fear for me is that it may happen again.
The whole world should learn about delirium
