For passengers a bus is certainly not a bus. Of course passengers experience differences in buses. We use them every day. And passengers like to understand buses. Buses became very complex machines filled with computerstechology. Experts think about every single part of the bus. You can make endless videos about every part. Bus companies (also here in Holland) hardly explain anything. It's a shame because bus companies can create a positive feeling for buses. I work at Stagecoah Manchester our batch of the enviro 400 mmc start with 112xx that procedure you’re mentioned drives me crazy. Tip when you’re stopped make sure you have your foot planted and as soon as the doors are closed everything releases straightaway making for a quicker take off 😉

Its great to hear that diesel buses are still being used on some routes around London even though most of them have sucumbed to electric or hybrid buses. Just out of interest and only if you are allowed to answer this question. What would be your favourite bus that you enjoy driving and what is the least favourite bus you dislike? Most drivers I have spoken to in my area like the Volvo B7TL ALX400's the most and its a mix of the Streetlite and Solos buses that they dislike mainly. Keep up the great videos buddy. Are these buses classed as Smart hybrids? I hear they differ slightly from a standard diesel in that there's an auxiliary motor attached, even though they drive the same as regular E40Ds.
The enviro 400mmc Diesel buses are really nice. In Oxford we have a lot of them. I’ve done a video on one that is used on the Oxford Brookes University contract working on a City route. They go really well on the A34 when working City X3, a lot better than the Volvo B5LH buses normally allocated.
@@singledeckermichael8608 the park and ride is another great service. Those buses are probably the best spec buses we have, and they have been cleverly designed to increase the amount of room for luggage. May have to make a video about that
Jack Cooper don’t half get busy that service! We were the first ones to get on at the park and ride and the driver had to leave people behind cos the bus was full.
@@singledeckermichael8608 it does get busy so sometimes a standard City branded bus is drafted in to relieve the service. It could do with stretched double deckers, which is why the new Brookes Streetdecks are longer

In Devon the E400MMCs are hopeless for country roads as they are pretty gutless. Most E400s down here (and some MMCs) have a Scania N23/5 chassis because Scanias are more powerful and more suited to rural routes at higher speeds. I cannot stand any Enviro400, much rather a Trident or an Olympian :)
Hi Michael does this particular bus model has colour-changeable interior lighting please? Also I notice that the engine gets activated really often (at higher speeds) so do these engine power the electric motors or directly move the wheels?
SingleDeckerMichael no problem. When you go slightly faster between PRU and Bromley south, you can hear a fairly loud screaming noise. That’ll be it ;)
Have you guys had any incidents with these hold or halt brakes?,we've had several,all on Citaro's, resulting in accidents,now campaigning to get them overridden. Company just blames driver error,forgetting to apply park brake, but its obviously an issue,as human error can happen. Personally I don't like this feature, technology is great but these hold or halt brakes can cause a vehicle to "run away" if the vehicle is shut down whilst the hold feature is applied,as was the case in 2 incidents within my company. Great content mate keep up the good work.
Not had any incidents that I’m aware of but I can certainly see how it might happen. When I worked for Metrobus some of the old 03 plate Scania deckers had a halt brake, but they seemed to stop fitting them for a while so I wonder why they’ve made a comeback? I’d certainly never heard of Dennis/ADL products having them before, they only seemed to be on foreign built buses.
I hate to say this... Great video and all, but these are still hybrid. Not only can you see this online via fleetlists and stuff, but it says so on the vehicle itself... maybe it's a slightly newer hybrid system, but it is still hybrid as far as I can tell mate.
Drivers shouldn't be wasting time I know you don't waste time but drivers need to learn how to be on time and shouldn't be waiting except for you I know you be on time

London Buses 126 hopefully next week when the old enviros are needed for the school buses, the 261 will be majority MMC

I’d say it’s highly unlikely as the 208/61/638 drivers weren’t type trained, unless they volunteered.

Longer built time or specially built buses are byilt in falkirk, scarbourgh does most with falkirk also assisting

Why does 54 operate from TL instead of PD?
54 goes past Catford Bus Garage to be fair. It doesn’t pass plumstead and the changeover point is also at the garage
