Being a nun was not as restrictive as one might think. They enjoyed more freedom, were not expected to bear children, and often received a quality education.
I have 4 aunts that are nuns and have an almost pure love disposition. I am 57 years old and the many times I’ve visited their convent there is peace and solace in the environment that is holy. Sisters of Servants of Mary. They are registered nurses serving the sick. Pls pray for vocations🙏🏼❤️
my aunt is a nun who got stationed in iraq. she cant eat the food and never gets what we send her... but she smiles in service w gratitude. i miss her dearly and pray for her.
I don't know why but hearing this makes me thankful for Christianity and it's beauty. I can honestly say nothing in this world is as beautiful to listen to as the praise of our Lord in heaven, thank you so very much for posting this and may He bless you!
I would love to have been able to hear singing like this live in the right setting. This recording is low quality and peaks a lot. I still appreciate being able to hear it at all, it is very nice, but it's like watching someone eat a big cheeseburger on YT. I'm sitting here like "man, I wanna be there."
these kinds of songs are still sung in many places. When I was in highschool we sang a lot of religious music with the choir and were invited to churches to preform. Your town could have something similar.
I am wretched dear Mother, Mary. Please pray for my soul, and help me to understand and be more like your son Jesus. I've failed so many different times and in so many different ways.
Jesus Christ loves you, have faith and hope. He always forgives when we show up with a broken spirit and a contrite heart. Greetings from Spain, sister. Cheer up!
god is not really real. just be the person that you would believe in, care for, love. give yourself grace, don't just hope or wish for it. forgive yourself, and work for a better tomorrow.
@1lapmagic sorry but no, maybe there is a "god" or creator but i think its wrong to submit your free will to a god or religion. the truth is there is nothing that controls people but people.

It's honestly a really good metaphor for what life is like in the 21st century. Which I would appreciate more were it a metaphor I was reading about and not an experience I was living.
Im only learning this type of music has a genre name and a specific audience dedicated to it. Which is funny since i regularly hear sacred chants whenever i attend a mass at a catholic school. As an ex-muslim atheist and hopefully no muslims find this offensive but i find this music alot more ethereal and relaxing than my muslim ex-father's sung prayers of the Quran
Nuns and Sisters are women who love life and are free to pursue their true interests and passions, not what the media and society in general is selling.
@@yolojb7812 You'd be surprised how many nuns are/were scientists. Libby Osgood is a NASA engineer who has become a nun (she's Canadian), there were also four nuns who, from 1909 until 1929, catalogued nearly half a million stars as living "computers" (a common job for women in astronomy back then, they were seldom allowed to do much else by men), they now have four asteroids named after them. Mary Kenneth Keller was the first woman in the United States allowed to ear a PhD in computer science, she was also a Catholic nun. There's also Sister Mariam Michael Stimson who helped to discover DNA, as she believed it "pointed to God" (her discovery helped to make it possible to actually see and analyze the structure of DNA in the 1950s via spectroscopy). Then there's Sister Mary Celine Fasenmyer, a mathematician known for her work in hypergeometric functions and linear algebra (that's above my pay grade!). Anyway, those are just a few modern examples. There are many more, even going back centuries! So maybe don't make assumptions that nuns don't go into the sciences... I'm not Catholic myself but Catholics have had a reputation for the past 300 or so years of being _very_ into the natural sciences, and many famous scientists were Catholics of the cloth, men and women (though fewer women due to sexual discrimination, which is thankfully lessening in terms of female education and opportunity).
@@yolojb7812keyword *true interests and passions*. If there was a nun that wanted to pursue in NASA im sure she would have. Just like women are giving the free reign to choose whatever profession they like and lean towards pediatrics, care and medicine.
My university used to be run by a bunch of feminist nuns with doctorates who welcomed LGBT students with open arms. Now the place is run by businessmen who axed every liberal arts department, even English and History 😔 I was lucky to learn from those cool nuns.
When I was a child they started using guitars and catholipopmusic during Mass, it was horrible, it ruined concentration and took away the relaxing sensation of being in a sacred bubble. The beguines made querulous choirs and the churchgoers' voices were uncoordinated. Nothing has changed, so I go to Mass at the crack of dawn: no songs, no loud amateur guitars.
@DomitilleTailhades unfortunately most Italian churches are fond of guitars that sound as if played with a wrench with speakers at full blast. And we can't sing, we're not the born opera singers of the movies, not at all. Better a simple, short Mass with 2 or 3 crones early in the morning
