    Yeah this is one of his masterpieces according to the tonality, showing of the lower range, color, range,sustainability of the note,yodeling or melisma kind of cultured thing, blending the genre of the music and of course holding that extremely high not for so long, don’t know to say what else this guy can do in one single song where even the band that wrote that song was very surprised on that performance..Only Dimash can prove it..Love your reactions always.Thnx

    Thank you. The (yodel) run is actually “Yakutian” in origins, this was stated by a Kanat (Dimash’ father). This song was originally performed by one of Dimash favourite performers from the A’Studio band. The remaining members of the A’Studio were the musicians on stage with Dimash. The original singer B,Shukenov passed away several years ago. In his usual style, Dimash made this song his own and in his own style. I have many of the songs Of B.Shukenov & A’Studio in my playlists. The song (translated ) “Mirage World” by B.Shukenov is one of Dimash favourites, as it is one of mine as well [Barb, DASD].

    This is the festival "New Wave" in Sochi (Russia). There was a competition of young performers and concerts of Russian artists. Dimash acted as a guest at the jubilee concert of the Kazakh group "A-studio".
    Baigali Serkebaev - the author of the song - plays the piano here.
    It was a phenomenal performance! Superb low notes at the beginning, unreal high notes at the end. And again the oriental tones in the song!
    Melismа in the finale together with the last "Дай" - 23 seconds!
    Dimash used kazakh singing technique. Saha people ( Russia) uses this technique too.
    Here is the story of the song and the song with English subtitles - th-cam.com/video/ihYQ9SQGxw0/w-d-xo.html

    I've seen different Dears commenting on the cultural traditions of what you refer to as a "yodel." I know I've seen some people claim it is of Turkish origins; the only thing I know is that it's sort of a lament he added to the song in honour of the lead singer of the group, who passed away. I will always prefer the Singer version of SOS, because it's the first time I saw Dimash, but you still have a lot of amazing music to cover!

    • @julieh.700
      @julieh.700 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Except the lament part is not true. I have searched and searched and can not find an interview or article stating such a thing. So far as I can tell, it's an internet rumor or wishful thinking to say it was a tribute. Somebody somewhere has to start providing the sources. Otherwise mistakes in the back story will keep being repeated. I myself repeated something I heard and it turned out to be wrong and since then I check everything. So I'm only pointing this out to try to keep the stories and info about Dimash as correct as possible. I say this with all the kindness of my heart.

    • @meghanmacqueen5157
      @meghanmacqueen5157 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@julieh.700 Oh okay lol. I thought at least that part was true, but you're right: it's just something I've read so many times that I assumed it was true.

    • @Ines-rn1si
      @Ines-rn1si 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, Dear, the homage to the band's deceased singer is just a nice rumor, but this throatsinging actually comes from the Far East and is practiced there by the indigenous peoples (Siberia, Mongolia etc.) Listen at min. 2:35 Olena UUTAi. The Call of Shaman: th-cam.com/video/XP3RkDEGiXY/w-d-xo.html

    • @EK-tf2eo
      @EK-tf2eo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ines-rn1si The similarity of the ornament used by Dimash to your example in the link is that it is also onomatopoeic, but mimics / stylizes completely different natural sounds, namely lamentation (see what his body language and gestures look like at this point, and you will get additional confirmation), which is an element practiced in different cultures. The part from your link (>2:35) is already, from a technical point of view, yodeling, that is, a change of register (while singing one tone) from the chest to the head and vice versa, and it is done with great frequency. In your example, the iodination is not very amplitude. In Dimash's styling, there is no change in the register, there is a vibrato on one tone with a resonance in the throat.

    • @joymcvey8331
      @joymcvey8331 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@julieh.700 You're right that there isn't a direct reference stating that he intended the section of the song in question as a tribute, however, based on what we know of DImash and his values, and given the evidence showing how much he admired and respected the man, plus the fact that the section wasn't in the original version of the song and was added by DImash, it's a pretty safe assumption to make that it was a sort of lament for the loss of one of his favorite artists.
      We know, after his recent tribute to Kenes Duisekeev and his tributes to Denis Ten, that he values giving honor to those he's lost, and Batyrkhan Shukenov, the original singer with the group A-Studio was someone he has likely mourned. Not only was Shukenov an honored and respected Kazakh citizen, given the title "Honored Worker of Arts of Kazakhstan", which we know would be a very important place of honor to Dimash, but he sang one of Dimash's favorite songs, "Ghost World", and in this interview, he is listening to Shukenov on his headphones while relaxing backstage and even sings the song: th-cam.com/video/yxcGBaHBW5A/w-d-xo.html He shows obvious admiration for the man and values his music. So it seems pretty obvious he would want to honor him in death, and I choose to believe that he made a very deliberate choice to arrange and perform this particular song with the seemingly mournful addition as his way of paying tribute to Shukenov, even if there's not direct proof of it.

    Да, Димаш-это чудо, которое сглаживает все неприятности этого времени для простых людей. Очень хочется, чтобы подобных людей было больше, мы заслуживаем свим терпением появления подобного чуда, т.к. МНОГИМ надоели басты, бузовы, киркоровы и прочие "золотые" голоса, самозванные короли, князья и королевы эстрады. Вот король! Надеюсь, что он не будет злоупотреблять этим званием.

    That sort of "call" that some people here said was like yodeling is pretty common in the western or mountainous parts of China, and west into Central Asia. It can be used for communicating with people across long distances -- like if you are on a mountainside and you are calling to somebody on another mountainside. Of course I don't know everything about it, but that's the use for it that I'm familiar with.

    Хочу добавить... 2 дня назад на канале Димаша появилась запись с казахконцерта его песни "Карагым - ай" У нее в настоящее время печальная пред история... Во время ковида скончались 2 дорогих Димашу человека... Один из них - это композитор этой песни... И Димаш пел ее в память о своем учителе... Это душераздирающее зрелище... Я эти дни просто не могу отойти от этого... Всю боль потери он вложил в нее... Есть 2 версии - одна более ранняя( она тоже есть на канале) и вот эта...Посмотрите вне очереди... Это уже настолько зрелый исполнитель, Интересно бы было поставить их в одном видео...

    The man in the white shirt in the front row that was immediately on his feet giving standing ovation - you will see him a lot in the future - it is the world famous composer and producer Igor Krutoy. Shortly after this performance he started to work with Dimash coming out of semi-retirement to compose again. First he offered Dimash to sing his older songs rearranging them for him and later composing songs like Ongi Pietra especially for Dimash´s unique voice, usually accompanying Dimash at the piano.

    It's no accident that this is usually the second song requested after SOS. It's one of the best moments of Dimash, it's a monster performance with that sustained Bb5 and the pentatonic run. This, along with Ogni Pietra, makes the holy grail of Dimash's repertoir for me!!
    For Ogni Pietra, the most engaging version for me is the one from his live concert in Astana in 2019. It's on Igor Krutoy's channel.

    Each Dimash fan can help him become introduced to American audiences by tuning into MTV's Friday livestream on its youtube channel from 5-8 pm New York time. Just write REQUEST DIMASH in the running chat as many times as possible DURING THE LIVESTREAM to get Dimash a place in the top five of the songs they are playing. He finished #3 on Oct. 16, we need to get him to #1 and keep him there! Twitter uses can also help. Check out a short video called "Wanna See Dimash on MTV Livestream?" for instrucdtions on using the correct formt for your vote to count. Be sure to calculate the time difference where you are so that you tune in when it is on in your area.

    Thank you for your reaction on Dimash's performance and on what a fine person he is. A facade of humbleness is thin, wears away fast, and is easy to see through. Dimash's character, though, keeps proving to be genuine and is such a big part of why he is beloved. You speak to that. Greetings from Alaska.

    i love both SoS performances. to me, the slavic bazaar version is more refined. you can tell that he's continued to work on his voice. both the lower and higher end of his capabilities. but for me, in doing that, takes away a small amount of the raw emotion that the singer version has. the singer version...is kinda like more urgent, more pleading. and im not saying anything bad about either version. thats just how i explain the difference.

    Hello, I’m from Brazil! The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

    Finally! I have been waiting for your reaction to this song for a long time. Sinful Passion is the first song by which I accidentally discovered Dimash and started getting to know his creativity. The same moment, so enchanted, I hurriedly and hungrily swallowed about him without order, confused the order of all information about performances and now I see how much wiser it is to meet him calmly and chronologically, as you do. We, who met him two years after the others, already need a guide in that, and it seems to me that you have become just that. I love your reactions that also reveal your deeply subtle, calm, systematic and focused personality which we also enjoy.
