Fun fact: Florian was originally going to have a much bigger role in the story, but his screen time was significantly reduced because it was really hard to them animate him properly
@@CharlCharl_Yes there is The joke they’re referring to is that Rapunzel proposed to him instead of the other way around, which didn’t happen as he proposed to her. Although In the series there was a point where Rapunzel was going to propose to Eugene on his birthday but a conflict that I don’t wish to spoil kept her from actually being able to do it.
If you love Eugene and Rapunzel’s relationship, I’d recommend watching the sequel show Tangled the Series. Their relationship is so beautifully done in the series and really cements them as my favourite Disney couple 😊
@@lavenderflowersfall280 I half and half ship them but I ship Rapunzel and Eugene more. I wouldn’t say either couple is better than the other, they’ve both got good points and bad points
I’m really glad I’m not the only one who thinks Naveen is a criminally underrated Disney Prince. His character arc is handled tremendously well. In the first half of the movie, he’s a spoiled brat who couldn’t do basic tasks, but dismissed this notion, as he believed life was all about partying, and refused to get a job to regain his wealth, but realised how rewarding it feels to do something you’ve never tried before, thanks to Tiana, and learned that money can buy you everything, but true love. And was even willing to marry Charlotte just so Tiana could still buy her restaurant and not just so he could regain his wealth. That’s really beautiful! 🥹🙏🐸🤴🏾
Rapunzel and Eugene’s relationship got expanded upon and was just as amazing in the Tangled sequel series. And since Princess and the Frog is now getting its own series I hope we get the same kind of development for Tiana and Naveen
yes I'm so excited! I loved Princess and the frog as a kid even though I was 10 when it came out and was starting to grow out of my "disney princess" phase. I've even been to the restaurant that Tiana's character/side of the story was based off of in Louisiana.
I'd argue Flynn is a better thief than Aladdin cuz Aladdin struggled with stealing 1 loaf of bread whereas Flynn basically gets away with stealing a crown from the castle and the only reason he goes to jail at the end of the movie, it because Gothal and his ex criminal partners tricked him.
I know in 10 months late but thats true. Aladdin had to to have a whole musical chase sequence just to steal one loaf of bread, meanwhile Flynn basically commited grand larceny and got away like it was nothing.
Yeah, by definition, Kuzco would be a princess more than a prince. "Do people assume all your problems got solved because a big, strong man showed up?" But oh well, better late than never I suppose.
See that comment just downplays all the shit that disney princes actually do. Its almost like both people can do things and it doesnt have to be all one or the other.
I wanna bring up something people BARELY talk about when it comes to Eric in the little Mermaid: Everyone seems to forget that despite Ariel giving up her voice and other stuff to be on land with Eric...Her voice was the BIGGEST thing he cared about when "finding the girl who saved him". Heck, the few times he talks about her as "the girl", her looks don't come up ONCE. He's mainly focused on her wonderful singing. Heck, when they first meet he DOES recognizes her face as the girl who saved him/sang to him. The ONLY REASON he even doubted it was her was HER LACK OF VOICE. Especially cause it showed the hypocrisy of all of Ursala's statements of "Guys not being into women who talk/have a voice". Yes Eric and Ariel do get the chance to get together(even if admittedly brief), but still, WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THIS!?!? Also if it weren't for Ursala's actions, Eric would already have gotten together with Ariel the moment they got together as humans, heck on MULTIPLE OCASSIONS. Now granted Ariel could have definitely made it easier if she wrote down who she was, but plot holes aside…come on people
Your explanation made me realize that wow... Eric's pretty shallow lmao. If he was MAINLY in it for her voice and even rejected and doubted her because no voice then oof.
@@mosa4302 I know, but the point I wanted to make is that he didn't care about her looks as much as her voice. Which contradicts Ursala's intentional points about how "men only care about a woman's looks"
Actually it's not really shallow in the context of the film. Vocal attraction is a thing in psychology. And he might have gotten with Ariel anyway based on her personality if it wasn't for Ursula getting in the way. Not only did the woman save his life but she also had a wonderful singing voice. There's nothing shallow about wanting to pursue a relationship with the woman who saved your life and has a great singing voice.
Fun fact. Since you mentioned Prince Eric's voice actor. Prince Charming in the sequels was actually voiced by Prince Eric's original VA, his royal highness Christopher Daniel Barns. Funny that they got him to do a prince in direct to vhs sequels but not of the prince he actually voiced. His royal highness CD Barnes was also the voice of Spider-Man in TAS. If anyone grew up in the 90s-early 2000s and never put that together like me, you'll never be able to unhear it now.
I don't know why, but it never occurred to me until now that Milo Thatch counts as a prince. And yeah, I admit he is a better developed character than Shang.... P.S. Although it's been overdone, I would love for you to do a villains ranking video (doesn't have to be Disney either)
From my understanding Hans did not kill Elsa at first because he wasnt sure if kiling her would have stopped the cold she accidentally casted on the kingdom. He only decited that killing her was his best option after she herself told him, that she doesnt know how to stop it and after Anna "died" he had a perfect reason to kill her while looking as if he tried his best to solve the situation peacefully. But even if that was the case, it still wasnt properly comunicated to the audience, not to mention that it is still a total stupidity to leave "dying" Anna in a random room and hoping literally noone would ask to see a body after he pronounces her dead. So yeah it is still a terrible twist.
I agree with this whole heartedly, Hans is one of the most stupid Disney twist villains (Bellweather and Prof Callahan are #2 and #3) I really wanted the duke of Weaseltown (westleton!) to be the villain
Seriously, I hated how they portrayed Hans as cartoonishly evil. It's just so jarring to have characters with realistic character then this guy with such one-dimensional motivations. It would've been better if Hans genuinely wanted to be a good leader and that having to kill Elsa was a hard choice for him to make. Make him feel even more motivated to kill her after seeing the pain she puts on the people and on Anna. Maybe even have him argue with Elsa, who was ignorantly replying back with 'Oh but I wanna let it go and not care anymore', which in turn made him angry. Y'know, make him look more humane and reasonable.
Yeah and that doesn't excuse why he didn't kiss Anna either. Still a terrible twist villain and I don't think he tells the other guys that they need to capture Elsa to stop the curse but I could be wrong cuz I haven't watched it a second time.
I 100% agree with Eugene being the top prince of Disney. of all the princes I've seen, I quote him the most. he's so charming and hilarious and I love his story arc from selfish thief to selfless lover. he went from being willing to endanger Rapunzel by taking her to a tavern that is filled to the brim with bandits and murderers so that she will give him the crown to someone who was willing to ditch the crown to be with this same woman that he was willing to endanger before and even sacrifices himself to save her from a dark and cruel life under Gothel because his new dream was Rapunzel. he is so full of personality and I can't help but love him though I want to point out that at the end of Tangled, when Eugene said that Rapunzel asked him to marry her, Rapunzel chimes in to correct him and he admits that he asked her. I do like that he asked her though because it goes to show how much he changed throughout the movie. he didn't give a shit about her at the beginning of the movie, and here he is now asking to marry her. it's adorable
I wish you'd count the characters from Enchanted in these rankings. I know they're mostly live-action, but they still feel like classic Disney archetypes.
For sure. Giselle is easily a top tier Disney princess. She has a Cinderella esque personality where she is a kind and wholesome person but she also has a great character arc in the movie. She learns that there is a lot more to life than she initially thought and you can see that things she learns early on are things she does end up doing later on. Seeing her learn about how the world and love works is very wholesome and it is executed in such a strong and sweet way. She's also a very talented individual, particularly in her crafting abilities (with the help of animals). She's definitely up there with the greatest Disney Princesses for me. Edward is really good too. He doesn't have as much to do as Giselle but he's overall a very charming and charismatic character. He's a lot of fun and it is really sweet to see him actually do things that Giselle wants, despite those things being alien to him. He wanted to go back to Andalasia but he stayed in New York to go on dates with Giselle because that's what she wanted (even though he didn't even know what dating was prior) and he truly cared for her (and in the end, he does let her go, despite being fixated on her for the rest of the movie). Enchanted in general is a very underrated movie. It is a movie which is a lot better than you would expect considering its premise. I never grew up with the movie but it has recently become one of my favourite Disney movies. Too bad Disenchanted was a rather poor followup which squandered Giselle’s character, among numerous other things.
Definitely. They absolutely messed up Giselle. So in the first movie, Giselle is naïve but she isn’t outright stupid. She’s in a new world she doesn’t understand so she does whatever feels like the right thing to do in the moment which makes sense. And even then, she still ends up making some good and smart decisions, particularly in the later parts of the movie when she has become more accustomed to the world. In Disenchanted however, Giselle becomes a dumber character who constantly makes dumb decisions. The poor decisions she makes in the movie, whether called out by the movie itself or not, ultimately end up in her casting a spell which nearly destroys her home world and kills her. Giselle has lived on Earth at 10 years at this point yet, she still seems to be oblivious about the world which doesn’t really make sense. It reverses the character development she had in the first movie and makes her a less likeable character, as she’s now unintelligent without the sufficient context or charm to back it up. As well as Giselle’s whimsical charm being removed due to the poor writing, there’s also the fact that the movie just forgets about Giselle’s fashion skills. That was a notable part in the first movie and by the end, Giselle opened a very successful fashion business. That is just completely ignored in Disenchanted outside of a couple of references to Giselle’s creativity. There are times in the movie where her background in fashion could have been used but it’s just gone for some reason. In general, Giselle just feels off outside of the unintelligence. It’s hard to explain and I think it really comes down to the writing but Giselle just doesn’t have that kindness and whimsy she had in the original. She feels more insensitive which can particularly be seen with her relationship with Morgan before the spell. There’s just something off with her. I certainly don’t blame Amy Adams for this, she was doing the best she could with what she was given, it’s just that the script did not do her character justice. And then you have “evil Giselle” who is ultimately the evil stepmother stereotype with no nuance or subtlety. They don’t do anything interesting with the character archetype, they just turn Giselle into the most bland, cliche version of that stereotype you can imagine. It’s interesting in concept but in execution, it is executed in such a basic way, resulting in me not really caring. But yeah, they squandered Giselle and evil Giselle is uninteresting. And as for Edward, he actually made the transition just fine. He was the only character from the original who managed to stay in character and not get significantly dumbed down in terms of his personality. The issue with Edward however is that barely in the movie, only having like 3 scenes. You can cut him out the movie and the story can still function the exact same, especially since Nancy is with him most of the time he’s on screen and she does almost everything. Edward gives Robert a sword and that’s pretty much the only remotely relevant thing he does without Nancy. Edward made the transition ok but he gets nothing to do in the movie which is a real shame. And that’s my take as to why Disenchanted messed these characters up. I could go into more detail about the subject and the movie made many more mistakes both in terms of its plot and characters but I think I’ve gone on for long enough. Enchanted has become one of my favourite Disney movies in recent times and Disenchanted is a huge disappointment for me and I would call it flat out bad. Enchanted did not deserve this but alas, here we are.
@bigbangbot-SuperSqank yeah I agree the only thing I like about disenchanted is the song let it grow I love how idenl Menzel sings 2 songs with the words let it I'm made that was in the movie and plus while I like Edward and Nancy I really hate how they got married as soon as they fall in love I mean when Giselle and Roger are having a huge time to get to know each other we haven't seen any delevoment between Nancy and Edward making it a forced in ship I wish that Edward met Nancy before Giselle and then Nancy helps Edward find Giselle and then we see some delevoment!
Honestly, I think u nailed the top 3, even the order they are in. Great Job. I do have to correct u on one thing tho... Eugene was just joking about Rapunzel asking him to marry her, he does say at the end that he did actually ask her.
When it comes to Arthur/Wart, I think you're being incredibly hard on a 13 or 14 year old boy who made his choices based on listening to different adults he either personally trusted or had a lot of power over him to begin with.
Agreed, Arthur is just a kid and an orphan his role in society was essentially take order and you'll only ever be a squire so at his age with the added societal norms he's going to be listen to the adult figures in his life rather than giving out commands 😅
Nope. Not an excuse. Disney has many characters around his age act very mature despite their different cultures and circumstances. Plus back in the time period the movie takes place in, teens were the young adults of that time period since back then, people were lucky to grow older than 30s-40s. Plus Snow White was also 14 and she was able to make her own choices despite being raised to be a servant by the Queen
Honeslty kuzco is my favorite out of any prince's because he didn't need a love interest to change, and it took awhile for him to change. Most of the prince's change because they meet the girl and fall in love. Not every story and relationship has to be romantic case and point kuzco's friendship with pacha.
I think Chang and Mulan have the best setup amongst all the Disney couples (I like Philip/Arora’s but they sing a single song after meeting for the first time😂) Edit: Neveen needed more work and had more to learn, but Tiana couldn’t see her flaws and that makes it harder to change for her. Love these videos bro
Tangled the series definitely made their relationship stronger. Showing that though rapunzel loved hims he didn’t just want to settle down with him yet. They were patient with each other, and even though Eugene was pretty much helpless against the main threats that happened, he still tried to help rapunzel as much as he could. Trying to protect her when she needed him, he even is aware that rapunzel was no damsel in distress, that she could fight her own battles. Also correction Eugene did ask rapunzel to marry him at the end of TTS.
I think there was plenty of hints that Hans was evil. In his song he says “I’ve been searching my whole life to find my own place” while Anna is talking about how she loves him. Elsa’s general warning that “you can’t marry a man you just met” along with the same warning from Kristoff later on. Not to mention the huge red flag that he has 11 brothers and multiple of them ignored him for years at a time. And because, the most obvious one, he’s just too good to be true. Any decent character has some kind of flaw. Even Kristoff is awkward and clumsy and a bit abrasive when they meet
I don't think that lyric implies anything. He could just be saying that he feels that his place is beside Anna, which is a romantic thing to say. The warning about not marrying a Man you just met doesnt make sense too since then Anna is evil as well, since she is a woman he just met And yes, hes too perfect, but this is a movie, they could have made him too perfect, that would make the love triangle even more interesting. Now, If at any point, anyone at all in the movie stated that "No one is perfect, hes gotta have some flaw", they maaaaybe that would be a red flag towards him being a bad person, or a villain
There was actually one hint in Frozen that Hans was a villain, most people just missed it. When he appears to save Elsa from one of Duke weaselton's huntsman he glances up at the ceiling before shoving the guys crossbow this was intentional as he purposely aimed the crossbow at the chandelier above Elsa's head intending to drop it on her and make it look like an accident while he was saving her but she dodged. You literally show the scene. Aside from that the reason Hans with such an out-of-nowhere villain was because Elsa was supposed to be the villain originally but the song let it go was so inspirational they couldn't make her the villain after recording it. Also I think the reason they didn't go back and add any scenes in aside from the chandelier scene to prove Hans was the villain and he kind of hints or anyting is probably because people in the real world have been blindsided when a partner cheats on them or decides to steal from them or friend stabbed him in the back somehow and that's what they wanted to do they wanted the audience to be as blindsided by Hans betrayal as Anna was.
Why though? Elsa didn't see the guy aiming his crossbow, but she's more likely to hear a chandelier cracking as it falls from the ceiling. The Duke's goons want to kill her and so does Hans; they wouldn't spill that Hans visibly let Elsa die.
@@silverscorpio24 Maybe Hans wanted the Duke and his goons to take the fall so he comes across as the one who tried to save her. Really this all comes down to poor story telling.
@@tamakunminnip2117 Yeah it's poor storytelling, including writing events that directly contradict the twist villain's motivations. Hans had a perfect opportunity to let Elsa die, and not even by his own hand, so he can still blame the Duke for her death. By saving her and taking her back to the castle and throwing her in the dungeon he then has to think of an entirely new plan that he can get away with.
Thank you for making Phillip pretty high. I guess the first prince's don't get that much development besides a few lines. I think "Florian" is the only one that's just...there, since (if I recall correctly) Charming was coming back from a war and Phillip does have those three lines of him being quirky and fun. I'm sorry "Florian".
@Will N very interesting. This could have been due it being so early animation? Or perhaps an priority issue? I think that for snow white the concept was prolonged morning clips and SMASHED them all together to try and make it work.
In my Ranking: 20 : Hans - Doesn't even need to explain why he's last 19 : John Smith - He is generic and has weird grotesque implications, also he doesn't even married Pocahontas 18 : Florian - We have almost nothing about him 17 : Charming/Henry - As you explained, in the first movie we have almost nothing about him, but the sequels gave him development, especially in A Twist in Time 16 : Arthur/Wart - Even if he isn't a memorable character and doesn't change much along the movie, he is at least kind and nice since the beginning. I don't mind his voice because I'm brazilian, so in our dub his voice doesn't change and is a fine voice. Also, his name is the same as my cousin, my cousin is like an emo version of him. 15 : Taran - He is whiny and rude in the beginning, but in the middle of the way he starts to became more humble and *a little* mature, even if he didn't have had this "almost character development" he still would be a determinated and playful kid (which is something good if your character is in a movie without sequels) 14 : John Rolfe - I agree with you, although he is not so memorable 13 : Eric - He is nice, he may not have something that stands out in comparison with the rest, but he is a humble, playful and dreamy person. 12 : Shang - As you sayed, he doesn't stand out as much as the rest, but he is a stoic guy, is tough and his character arc compliments the themes from the movie 11 : Phoebus - Agree with you 10 : Beast - I think he starts the " villain to hero" thing that some other princes followed later, he was Prince Zuko before Zuko's existence 9: Phillip - He is a fun dude, i think he is the epitome of male hero archetype from a Disney movie, and he is courageous in a right way 8 : Tarzan - I haven't watched Tarzan in a time, but remember him being tough, compassionate and his character arc was great 7 : Kritoff - Agreed 6 : Naveen - I agree with you 5 : Milo - Again, i agree with you 4 : Hercules - He is nice since the beginning, but watch him learning life lessons and how to became a great hero was amazing 3 : Kuzco - His villain to hero arc was strongly great, he is so memorable and has a strong character 2 : Eugene - Him and Alladin compete for spot 1, because he was kinda underused in Tangled the Series and i didn't had a very strong immersion with him, he is in the second spot, but he is still a strong and great combination of many Princes tropes from before 1 : Alladin - I have so much immersion with him, he is one of the strongest Disney characters for me, he learned many things but was nice and brave since the beginning, I also adored his relationship and character arc with his dad in the third movie
Yeah, my favourite couples are the ones who start out neutral with each other, get into wacky shenanigans, constantly butt heads, and eventually realise there’s more to that person than they believed. As shown by Tiana & Naveen and Rapunzel & Eugene!
Fun Fact: Eugene does come back says “alright I asked her” at the end. Not that it matters but still. Also you forgot to mention that he says that it took years and years of asking rather than immediately marrying her which is a nice refresher from all of the meet and marry in the same day tropes
Yeah almost all of the princesses marry their princes in the end, but it made sense to have a princess (Rapunzel) enjoy her freedom after being locked in a tower her whole life.
I think you might've misunderstood Taran a bit. The magic sword isn't a blow to his character development because he doesn't understand what it means to be a hero at that time. His definition of hero throughout most of the movie is someone knightly, who vanquished evil. We see it in his daydreaming and playing, even his attitude towards his master's views on the horned king. He wants to storm the castle, defeat evil in a clearly physical way. His arch is realizing that heroes are not all knights, and that anyone can be one, no matter what or who they are or how they do it. So at the time he's gotten thrown in the dungeon, all he has done is regretted daydreaming off and allowing himself to get into this mess. He hasn't learned his lesson. The sword comes into play, and he thinks he's now a hero, but as the movie implies (remember the animation where the sword is controlling him?) and as other characters even state to him, its the sword doing the work, not him. Basically if we were comparing it to another film, it would be someone who wanted to ace his test finding the grading key and calling themselves smart. He's only fooling himself. But he's not fooling the movie, nor his friends. When he offers the sword to the hags, he's sorrowful at not being able to play the hero and is confused on what to do to actually destroy the cauldron. He's now completely lost because he believes himself no longer able to be the hero.. But its only at Gurgie's sacrifice does he understand that someone wielding a sword isn't always the hero; sometimes its the person who you least suspect and that anyone can be one. Even a little monster you found in the forest, cowardly, and small. His arch ends when he realizes his friend, obnoxious though he was, is gone because Gurgi wanted to save them. And when the hags come back and offer him the marvelous sword, the thing that made him in the past the "hero" he always wanted to be, he turns it down. Taran of old might've taken them up on their bargain, but new Taran just wants his friend back: as he says in the movie "I'm no hero, Gurgi's the real hero." Basically its a less blunt Hercules. Though I do like both movies equally.
@@Superlad945 In a sense, yes. Except if the similar situation happened in Hercules, Phil would've jumped in after Meg and obtain true hero status. Though I don't think the world is ready for Danny DeVito God yet.
I loved how each one was a review of the characters story arc as well. Comments I have about different parts of this video " They got what they wanted by accepting what they had" I never really saw it that way but you're right. also with Tarzan I loved the line "you came back" "I came home." It could have easily been a story about Tarzan realizing he doesn't belong with them and leaving to be with humans but I ends up being about how he truly does belong the "After years and years of asking and asking.....I finally said yes" was a joke. He was making it seem like he finally relented to her constant pleading to boost himself up. He then says "okay. I asked her."
3:06 Admittedly, The Sword in the Stone is actually one of my childhood films, but yeah, Arthur is a poorly written protagonist. Which is such a shame, considering that in the original source, the Legend of King Arthur, he is actually a loyal and wise king. Also, I didn't know Arthur's voice changed so much, but that might just be bc I grew up with the Spanish dub xD Also, thanks for putting Prince Adam high in the list. I'm really sick of people who misunderstand the fil and say "bEaUtY hAd sToCkHolM sYnDrOmE", "bEaSt aNd gAsToN aRe dA sAmE" or, the worst, "gAsToN iS aCtUaLlY dA gOoD gUy" I'm just like, please, go watch Beauty and the Beast again, you've completely missed the point. -_- And yeah, Eugene = best Disney prince every created. Congrats on the 15,000 subs ! :D
I think Hans was hinted as being the villain when Elsa tells Anna you can't marry a man you just met because you don't know if that person you met is good or not. The problem is that the twist was poorly executed that even King Runeard, someone who doesn't even exist and is only a villain because of his actions years ago and he's dead for the vast majority of Frozen 2, is a better villain in the Frozen Duology.
It’s so refreshing that you not only included John Rolfe here but put him higher than Smith. His gentlemanly nature does get to me more than Smith’s beat em up style and like you, I think Rolfe is a better character. If you really want a John Rolfe doll, you can find a custom one online. I did, that is how much I love Rolfe over Smith
@@Rockotarthepurplehatguy When you eventually make a frozen two review I will, happily enjoy you roasting the grandfather plot line and Elsa’s “ice messaging” Fr tho, frozen two did not live up to the original (even if the first movie had a few problems *ahem cough* Hans *cough cough*
21:10 Pheobus Pheobus was a good character. He had charm and he showed he had integrity when he refused to carry out Frollo's evil orders. He went against Frollo, ended up with Esmeralda & developed a friendship with Quasimodo.
I always relate to Milo because he so curious about his research as something he so passionate about more than anyone else despite how his peers looking down on him for being a total oddball and eventually give up his position and rather be happy to live in his new life than his old life
Florian is actually my favorite along with Phillip and Prince Charming, I can understand why many people hate them because they really don’t have much personality at the same time though, I believe all three had very limited dialogue and screen time because they were harder to animate with rotoscoping and everything… The princesses were the same way I think, but I guess since they were more main characters they probably worked a lot harder with them but the princes were too much work…
I only learnt about John Rolfe just now, never having heard of him in the past until this video, but now I appreciate and love him. ALSO THE DRESS POCAHONTAS WORE WAS AWESOME
I got my food ready and was looking for a video to watch while eating, and I was like, YES, Rockotar has new video! Then I got to thinking, your quality of reviews is up there with Schaffrillas and and the Nostalgia Critic. I like to watch a good reviewer.
The reason Arthur has three voices is because the original actor's voice broke during recording (he was 15) and the director used his sons (who were the right age) to fill in additional lines. Hence why Arthur blatantly changes voice in between lines of dialogue several times throughout the film.
Finally someone who recognized John Rolfe, I absolutely love both Pocahontas movies tbh, even if they aren't accurate, but meh, but I've always loved John Rolfe in the 2nd movie, he's top tier
@@braydengraves4655 According to Disney Merida is a "Disney princess" so they should count as princes. Also Rockotar included Merida in his princess video
It just hit me that Phineas and Ferb should have been on the list, they're Disney and they're royalty since their sister is the queen of Mars. And the inclusion of John 2 from Pocahontas 2 means that this list isn't exclusively WDAS, since that was Disneytoons. So Disney Television Animation should also count
I really don't like John Smith, simply because of the extreme racist implications. I like John Ralph a lot simply because it's obvious he doesn't have a problem with her culture, and really doesn't mind living within it or learning about her family, and I think that's sweet. Still heavy implications, but it's better than Smith!
You probably shouldn't like either then because in reality-the real life pocahontas more then likely married John Rolfe due to her being held for ransom in England and as a political marriage between the Powhatans and the English for trade agreements.
From least favorite to favorite and I'm only including those in the Canon (I don't want to have to factor in them) Hans (terrible writing hurts him so so much. The turn is so bad) Florian (having no personality oddly helped him be above Hans) Arthur (who cares) Taran (least he's better than Arthur) Charming (even with his incredibly limited screen time, he's more delightful than the others. His yawn brought him this far) John Smith (nice enough, but his leading lady is much better) Eric (Good guy. Not the greatest, but good) Kristoff (just a charming guy. At least the sequel didn't hurt him) Aladdin (Totally get the love. Just not quite there for me) Milo (reevaluated him and I quite like him now!) Naveen (juuuuust outside of favorites. A rewatch will probably help) Tarzan (favorites start here. Not much to say, just a great guy) Kuzco (the comedy alone brought him pretty high up here) Hercules (underrated comical character and a great hero) Shang (great character, I just like others more. Didn't factor in dtv sequels because of him mostly) Phoebus (major upgrade from the source material as well as being and upstanding guy! ) Phillip (first great Disney Prince and still a major favorite. Growing up watching this a lot certainly helped him) Adam (major favorite. Top 10 Disney characters for sure. Magical world was rough for him) Eugene (It's Eugene)
Something to be said about Prince Eric- he's totally selfless. When his ship got wrecked/caught fire, he made sure everyone else- including his dog- was safe before he saved himself. He's a simple character and we don't see much of him, but it's completely easy to see why Ariel was smitten with him right from the beginning.
All of these are pretty good rankings but prince eric did risk his life trying to save ariel near the end of the movie which includes him wounding and impaling the sea witch to save ariel. But that's really it so i think he probably deserves a higher ranking than prince charming at most
Okay, but Eugene, Aladdin and Naveen have great characteristics and character development over time. The chemistry between them and the Princesses is very well done. They are also my personal favorites, I personally understood Aladdin with someone who’s struggled with poverty myself but was still selfless helping others despite my living situation back then.
I kinda got the vibe from Snow White that their meeting at the beginning wasn’t the first time. Maybe because in his song he uses a past tense (I know it’s more specific like past present participle or some bullshit idk) but he says ‘one song I have been singing’ and ‘one love that has possessed me’. I also think it’s really cute how in that scene he gives a little bird a smooch or it gives him a smooch, idk I can’t remember but it’s the cutest shit I’ve ever seen! Arthur was played by three kids, two were brothers who were sons of someone high up with the movie, I forget, but the younger's voice was changing, so between those two things (three different actors with one having a changing voice due to puberty), it's very unfortunately apparent in the finished movie.
6:34 In fact, the movie actually does the complete opposite of this! After Hans falls off the boat and Anna leaves, you can see him lovingly happily smile. Not an evil trickster’s grin, or mutter to himself “soon i’ll finally have a kingdom…” for foreshadowing purposes, or anything like that.
Prince Charming & Vanellope are kinda similar in the sense that they’re both 14th because of each having a good movie and a bad one that balances them out (not considering Cinderella 2 for obvious reasons)
I 100% agree with John Rolfe, being 100% better than John Smith, when more interesting and charming, and everything a girl could ever want versus the dull charisma and not as well designed as John Rolfe It literally makes no sense why people even ship Pocahontas with John Smith other than they were the original couple from the original movie 😤💔
Hey Rocko, would love to collaborate on a Disney review with you eventually. I've written 5 of my own so far and filmed one, planning on editing soon and releasing them as soon as I have 10. Would love to help on one!
Actually, Eugene actually asked. He makes the joke, "After years of asking and asking... I said yes." Then Rapunzel cuts in with "Eugene..." and he goes, "Alright, alright... I asked her." I wish they had just left it at her asking him, would have been a much better and more modern ending.
Rapunzel _was_ planning to propose to Eugene at one point in the tv series, but her plans to do so got interrupted. So even though he ended up asking her in the end, there's still some modernisms to their ending.
In defense of Arthur/ Wart because I'm one of the few fans of Sword in the Stone apparently, Arthur is still a kid and was orphaned and treated pretty poorly early on, he spent his whole life taking orders from his adoptive family and was basically told he'd only ever be a squire, Merlin's job is to set him on a path to become King. Arthur is just living his life and suddenly Merlin pops up into and starts telling him tons of information and giving him lessons using magic so it doesn't surprise me Arthur spends most of the movie confused and just doing as he's told. You can see aspects of a strong character in him, he yells at Sir Ector for treating Merlin badly, he goes forward with determination to prove that he did pull the sword from the stone, he's honest, has compassion and is genuinely good, he's just a kid and probably needs more guidance but you can see he'll be a good king when he gains the confidence in himself. Idk if any of that made much sense but the book it's based on also ends at that point so it's not like they had much to go off afterwards, T.H. White did write another follow up book but it's a little more mature than the first and he combined them together which lead to Mim becoming excluded from the story all together. The movie was also in production hell for quite a while with Walt paying more attention to other projects like WDW and during the process Arthur's original voice Ricky Sorenson went through puberty so director Wolfgang Reitherman had two of his sons Richard and Robert replace him hence why there's 3 voice actors. Sorry I just really like this movie because I'm a sucker for King Arthur stories 😆
Hopefully this ranking will be less controversial than my last one. *Laughs in Moana*

The joke they’re referring to is that Rapunzel proposed to him instead of the other way around, which didn’t happen as he proposed to her.

Defenetly underrated
he’s fine too 🫡🫡
i love Naveen sm bro, its so sad that hes extremely criminally underrated
Literally this cause on top of that he got looks

I thought six was too low
Aladdin also stole the lamp from the cave of wonder, so it kinda evens out.
Yeah, by definition, Kuzco would be a princess more than a prince.

I wanna bring up something people BARELY talk about when it comes to Eric in the little Mermaid:
Everyone seems to forget that despite Ariel giving up her voice and other stuff to be on land with Eric...Her voice was the BIGGEST thing he cared about when "finding the girl who saved him".

I grew up with the 90s and 2000s.
How have I never noticed that??? Wow!
My favourite mind-blowing fact to tell people is that Prince Eric has the same VA as the guy who yells “GET BACK HERE SHOCKER! SHOCKEEEEEER!”
Don't forget: Rolfe was the actual, real husband of Pocahantas. Smith never had a romance with the real Pocahantas.
That’s what I learned in grade school.
The fact that the movie Pocahontas was even thought of really disturbs me. Anyone who knows the real story should agree.
It would have been better to make up a new fictional princess rather than a real, tragic person.
It sucks that they chose a real person for a Disney animated film, rather than one of the many Native American women in legends.
@@shaobues did anyone notice that John Rolfe looks like Hercules are they one and the same person

@@emilysmith4213 i dont feel like he is the villain, i mean Elsa even commited more evil deeds than Hans
I think the trolls should've been the villains.
I 100% agree with Eugene being the top prince of Disney. of all the princes I've seen, I quote him the most. he's so charming and hilarious and I love his story arc from selfish thief to selfless lover. he went from being willing to endanger Rapunzel by taking her to a tavern that is filled to the brim with bandits and murderers so that she will give him the crown to someone who was willing to ditch the crown to be with this same woman that he was willing to endanger before and even sacrifices himself to save her from a dark and cruel life under Gothel because his new dream was Rapunzel. he is so full of personality and I can't help but love him
though I want to point out that at the end of Tangled, when Eugene said that Rapunzel asked him to marry her, Rapunzel chimes in to correct him and he admits that he asked her.
I love Edward!
Oh yeah Disenchanted really ruined their character development didnt it
Eugene(Flynn), Aladdin, Naveen , and Shang are the best Disney princes imo, in that order too😌

Honestly, I think u nailed the top 3, even the order they are in. Great Job.
I do have to correct u on one thing tho... Eugene was just joking about Rapunzel asking him to marry her, he does say at the end that he did actually ask her.
I wonder why John Smith's romance would seem unrealistic
I wonder if that ties into history in any way
**laughs in word history**
*Princess

I think Chang and Mulan have the best setup amongst all the Disney couples (I like Philip/Arora’s but they sing a single song after meeting for the first time😂)
Edit: Neveen needed more work and had more to learn, but Tiana couldn’t see her flaws and that makes it harder to change for her.
I feel like that particular lyric is the biggest hint to Hans's true intentions.
I don't think that lyric implies anything. He could just be saying that he feels that his place is beside Anna, which is a romantic thing to say. The warning about not marrying a Man you just met doesnt make sense too since then Anna is evil as well, since she is a woman he just met
And yes, hes too perfect, but this is a movie, they could have made him too perfect, that would make the love triangle even more interesting.
@@silverscorpio24 The is my #1 criticism of Frozen and why I will never see it as quality writing.
Again, more reasons why Hans is a stupid twist villain
Thank you for making Phillip pretty high. I guess the first prince's don't get that much development besides a few lines. I think "Florian" is the only one that's just...there, since (if I recall correctly) Charming was coming back from a war and Phillip does have those three lines of him being quirky and fun. I'm sorry "Florian".
@Will N very interesting. This could have been due it being so early animation? Or perhaps an priority issue? I think that for snow white the concept was prolonged morning clips and SMASHED them all together to try and make it work.
@Will N that makes sense
In my Ranking:
20 : Hans - Doesn't even need to explain why he's last
19 : John Smith - He is generic and has weird grotesque implications, also he doesn't even married Pocahontas
18 : Florian - We have almost nothing about him
17 : Charming/Henry - As you explained, in the first movie we have almost nothing about him, but the sequels gave him development, especially in A Twist in Time
16 : Arthur/Wart - Even if he isn't a memorable character and doesn't change much along the movie, he is at least kind and nice since the beginning. I don't mind his voice because I'm brazilian, so in our dub his voice doesn't change and is a fine voice. Also, his name is the same as my cousin, my cousin is like an emo version of him.
15 : Taran - He is whiny and rude in the beginning, but in the middle of the way he starts to became more humble and *a little* mature, even if he didn't have had this "almost character development" he still would be a determinated and playful kid (which is something good if your character is in a movie without sequels)
14 : John Rolfe - I agree with you, although he is not so memorable
13 : Eric - He is nice, he may not have something that stands out in comparison with the rest, but he is a humble, playful and dreamy person.
12 : Shang - As you sayed, he doesn't stand out as much as the rest, but he is a stoic guy, is tough and his character arc compliments the themes from the movie
11 : Phoebus - Agree with you
10 : Beast - I think he starts the " villain to hero" thing that some other princes followed later, he was Prince Zuko before Zuko's existence
9: Phillip - He is a fun dude, i think he is the epitome of male hero archetype from a Disney movie, and he is courageous in a right way
8 : Tarzan - I haven't watched Tarzan in a time, but remember him being tough, compassionate and his character arc was great
7 : Kritoff - Agreed
6 : Naveen - I agree with you
5 : Milo - Again, i agree with you
4 : Hercules - He is nice since the beginning, but watch him learning life lessons and how to became a great hero was amazing
3 : Kuzco - His villain to hero arc was strongly great, he is so memorable and has a strong character
2 : Eugene - Him and Alladin compete for spot 1, because he was kinda underused in Tangled the Series and i didn't had a very strong immersion with him, he is in the second spot, but he is still a strong and great combination of many Princes tropes from before
1 : Alladin - I have so much immersion with him, he is one of the strongest Disney characters for me, he learned many things but was nice and brave since the beginning, I also adored his relationship and character arc with his dad in the third movie
slowly but surely he is developping his style and pacing, good job
Yeah, my favourite couples are the ones who start out neutral with each other, get into wacky shenanigans, constantly butt heads, and eventually realise there’s more to that person than they believed. As shown by Tiana & Naveen and Rapunzel & Eugene!
Those two are my favorites tbh.
Fun Fact: Eugene does come back says “alright I asked her” at the end. Not that it matters but still. Also you forgot to mention that he says that it took years and years of asking rather than immediately marrying her which is a nice refresher from all of the meet and marry in the same day tropes
Yeah almost all of the princesses marry their princes in the end, but it made sense to have a princess (Rapunzel) enjoy her freedom after being locked in a tower her whole life.
i think thats where the tangled series idea came from
Frozen would have been so much better if the kiss with Hans just didn't work. His evil plan was so dumb
Taran of old might've taken them up on their bargain, but new Taran just wants his friend back: as he says in the movie "I'm no hero, Gurgi's the real hero."
Basically its a less blunt Hercules. Though I do like both movies equally.
An interesting take, I'll definitely have to consider this on my next rewatch of the movie.
@@Superlad945 In a sense, yes. Except if the similar situation happened in Hercules, Phil would've jumped in after Meg and obtain true hero status. Though I don't think the world is ready for Danny DeVito God yet.

" They got what they wanted by accepting what they had" I never really saw it that way but you're right.
also with Tarzan I loved the line "you came back" "I came home." It could have easily been a story about Tarzan realizing he doesn't belong with them and leaving to be with humans but I ends up being about how he truly does belong the
"After years and years of asking and asking.....I finally said yes" was a joke.
Also, I didn't know Arthur's voice changed so much, but that might just be bc I grew up with the Spanish dub xD
Also, thanks for putting Prince Adam high in the list.
*Belle
My bad
Yes! I absolutely hate it when people say that the beast and Gaston were the same. They totally missed the point of the movie then.
Top 3 is Kuzco, Euegene and Beast easily. Hans is the worst villain and prince, amazing how he achieved both
Yes! Love the music playing when you're talking about Aladdin :)
I know right 😂
Nice! This should be interesting! My favourite princes are Aladdin, Kuzco, Naveen, Eugene, and Kristoff! They’re the GOATS! 🫅😁✊
This poor man dying inside always makes me laugh thank you so much for making me smile and your rants are hilarious
Kuzco:"A Prince?! I'm the king of the world! Didn't you listen to my theme song? BOOM BABY!!"
i havent seen that movie in years yet i can HEAR this quote
The fact that you used the Market Theme (for Aladdin) from the disney princess game literally gave me SO MUCH nostalgia, a damn W choice.
Now i'm wondering what the next ranking video will be
My Disney prince rankings
1 Shang
2 Flynn
3 Aladdin
4 Phillip
5 The beast
6 Eric
7 John Smith
8 Kristoff
9 Prince Charming
10 Mowi
11 Florian
12 Hans
There’s no way you went through Kristoff and didn’t mention the masterpiece that is the song “Lost In The Woods” from Frozen 2.
A grave mistake, well, inevitably I'm doomed to talk about Frozen 2 in its own video, so I'll make sure to talk about it eventually.
Personally, I don't get the appeal. That was the worst part of that already awful movie for me. I fast-forwarded through it on re-watch.
@@Rockotarthepurplehatguycan you do a review on frozen
Wow I'm impressed that you ranked Kuzco, Aladdin, and Flynn Rider on the very top of this list.
They're my favorite Disney princes.
21:10 Pheobus
Pheobus was a good character. He had charm and he showed he had integrity when he refused to carry out Frollo's evil orders. He went against Frollo, ended up with Esmeralda & developed a friendship with Quasimodo.
I always relate to Milo because he so curious about his research as something he so passionate about more than anyone else despite how his peers looking down on him for being a total oddball and eventually give up his position and rather be happy to live in his new life than his old life
Alright but shang, naveen, Flynn, Philip, charming (from cinderella 3),Eric, aladdin are so hot!
to be honest,
Li Shang is Tanjiro of Disney
Naveen is Train Heartnet of Disney
Flynn is Yuji of Disney
Aladdin is Naruto of Disney
I'm so unbelievably happy that Eugene was number 1 :) thats my boy
I enjoy the subtle Zelda: A Link to the Past music in the background!! Great list btw
Florian is actually my favorite along with Phillip and Prince Charming, I can understand why many people hate them because they really don’t have much personality at the same time though, I believe all three had very limited dialogue and screen time because they were harder to animate with rotoscoping and everything… The princesses were the same way I think, but I guess since they were more main characters they probably worked a lot harder with them but the princes were too much work…
Congrats
Understandable, but that still was a very odd choice
Finally someone who recognized John Rolfe, I absolutely love both Pocahontas movies tbh, even if they aren't accurate, but meh, but I've always loved John Rolfe in the 2nd movie, he's top tier
This rockotar guy is actually so good, i never heard about him before but he is super charismatic
Wait a minute, shouldn't the three little brothers from Brave count?
Btw wonderful job with the video!
That's Pixar. I'm not sure if it counts.
@@braydengraves4655 According to Disney Merida is a "Disney princess" so they should count as princes. Also Rockotar included Merida in his princess video
I guess that's true, I didn't think about that, but they wouldn't have placed very high anyway, trust me.
36:48 DUDE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I GOT HEARING THE FIRST NOTE OF THIS SONG
I got a good idea, rank every animated comic relief character!
Hercules in Top 5 I KNEW IT 💜 I'm proud of my sweet himbo
OO CONGRATS !!
Would you consider doing a video about the new Puss In Boots? That movie floored me, its the best I can think of personally.
Childhood bias would be Phillip and Hercules. Kuzko is imo the best princess and Kronk the best prince.
Think you'll do Every Disney Villain Ranked?
Probably, I just hadn't decided when yet.
@@RockotarthepurplehatguyI’d recommend starting after Wish comes out. So we can see how King Magnifico ranks up compared to the other villains
@@gdplayer8768marking the date on my calendar rn 📅
I really don't like John Smith, simply because of the extreme racist implications. I like John Ralph a lot simply because it's obvious he doesn't have a problem with her culture, and really doesn't mind living within it or learning about her family, and I think that's sweet. Still heavy implications, but it's better than Smith!
You probably shouldn't like either then because in reality-the real life pocahontas more then likely married John Rolfe due to her being held for ransom in England and as a political marriage between the Powhatans and the English for trade agreements.
Excellent rankings!
Your choice of music throughout each one is so perfect too! 👌
From least favorite to favorite and I'm only including those in the Canon (I don't want to have to factor in them)
Hans (terrible writing hurts him so so much. The turn is so bad)
Florian (having no personality oddly helped him be above Hans)
Arthur (who cares)
Taran (least he's better than Arthur)
Charming (even with his incredibly limited screen time, he's more delightful than the others. His yawn brought him this far)
John Smith (nice enough, but his leading lady is much better)
Eric (Good guy. Not the greatest, but good)
Kristoff (just a charming guy. At least the sequel didn't hurt him)
Aladdin (Totally get the love. Just not quite there for me)
Milo (reevaluated him and I quite like him now!)
Naveen (juuuuust outside of favorites. A rewatch will probably help)
Tarzan (favorites start here. Not much to say, just a great guy)
Kuzco (the comedy alone brought him pretty high up here)
Hercules (underrated comical character and a great hero)
Shang (great character, I just like others more. Didn't factor in dtv sequels because of him mostly)
Phoebus (major upgrade from the source material as well as being and upstanding guy! )
Phillip (first great Disney Prince and still a major favorite. Growing up watching this a lot certainly helped him)
Adam (major favorite. Top 10 Disney characters for sure. Magical world was rough for him)
Eugene (It's Eugene)
this is pretty well made and i thought the ranking was well thought out but i wish the video was a little funnier.
Phoebus is my favourite
But I’m a biased party-
All of these are pretty good rankings but prince eric did risk his life trying to save ariel near the end of the movie which includes him wounding and impaling the sea witch to save ariel. But that's really it so i think he probably deserves a higher ranking than prince charming at most
Keep this quality and you will be a star
i have THE highest respext for you that milo even made the list, let alone top 5. absolutely love milo, thank you for including him
Would love to see a Tangled video on the channel
I’ve got an idea for a ranking video, we always focus on the Disney villains but what about the Disney divas, specifically the villainesses?
Okay, but Eugene, Aladdin and Naveen have great characteristics and character development over time. The chemistry between them and the Princesses is very well done. They are also my personal favorites, I personally understood Aladdin with someone who’s struggled with poverty myself but was still selfless helping others despite my living situation back then.
Love your accent
Phillip and Phebus for me. I would count Jim Hawkins too even though he doesn't have a love interest. And Beast.
I want more uwu cutesy princes that are just as affectionate with animals as the princesses are.
Not that I disagree with the list placement or anything, it’s still not much lol. I just think he’s neat. ❤
Arthur was played by three kids, two were brothers who were sons of someone high up with the movie, I forget, but the younger's voice was changing, so between those two things (three different actors with one having a changing voice due to puberty), it's very unfortunately apparent in the finished movie.
OMGGG I REMEMBER THE MARIO SONG IN THE INTRO!! FROM SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD!!!
I love seeing the Milo support
6:34 In fact, the movie actually does the complete opposite of this! After Hans falls off the boat and Anna leaves, you can see him lovingly happily smile. Not an evil trickster’s grin, or mutter to himself “soon i’ll finally have a kingdom…” for foreshadowing purposes, or anything like that.
Prince Charming & Vanellope are kinda similar in the sense that they’re both 14th because of each having a good movie and a bad one that balances them out (not considering Cinderella 2 for obvious reasons)
I 100% agree with John Rolfe, being 100% better than John Smith, when more interesting and charming, and everything a girl could ever want versus the dull charisma and not as well designed as John Rolfe
It literally makes no sense why people even ship Pocahontas with John Smith other than they were the original couple from the original movie 😤💔
Hey Rocko, would love to collaborate on a Disney review with you eventually. I've written 5 of my own so far and filmed one, planning on editing soon and releasing them as soon as I have 10. Would love to help on one!
ik im l8 but congratz on 15k+ followerz!!! ur so close to 20k as well !
My favorite princes are Flynn Rider, Philip, and Milo (But only after your points because I haven't watched the movie in a long time)! 😊
Congratulations on reaching over 16,000 subscribers
can you rank disney villains
DO THE VILLAINS NEXT!!!
Eugene Fritzherbet being the FIRST ONE DISNEY PRINCE is okay is my list too! 😎😎😎
Also sarcastic/sassy characters are my weak spot 😅
It’s nice to see the princes ranked, for a change!
