C’était le dernier Grand Prix sur ce circuit. Les records établis sur ce rapide circuit resteront dans presque toutes les catégories, des records définitifs (les 350cc ne courent plus à Spa depuis 1958).
Le tour le plus rapide appartient donc pour toujours à Barry Sheene qui avait réalisé 220,720 km/h sur sa 500 Suzuki en 1977.
