The title is misleading as fuck. Bodie did not give him bad advice, based on what Lil Kevin told him. Lil Kevin didn't tell Bodie the whole story behind why he got jacked up by the police. Lil Kevin set up Lex through Randy which he was NOT supposed to do, and on top of that, he goes and tells Randy what happened afterwards. Two ridiculously STUPID moves. If he told Bodie that, Bodie would have told him to catch a flight to the Bahamas and never come back lol.
Anthony Anderson tbh, I never got the impression that Bodie and Lex were all that tight anyway, he weren't too bothered when Lex 'disappeared', it seemed. Denis Mulvihill Sorry if you took offence, but I stand by what I said. The character of Little Kevin was stupid. Maybe more cocky than stupid but stupid nonetheless. That's why he lied to Marlo about telling Randy what happened to Lex, he knew it was stupid and would've got him killed which it did. Marlo was right to ace him, he had a big mouth and stupidly opened up Marlo's organisation to outsiders about the bodies (to Randy and eventually the police). He had to go, this was nothing like the security guard issue.
-Kevin skips work -Chris and Snoop tell Kevin to pass a message to Lex -Kevin gets Randy to do this because Lex works for Bodie and Kevin doesn't want to get in shit for skipping work -Randy snitches and Freamon figures out that the vacants are being used for corpse disposal -Marlo's multimillion dollar drug empire falls, many people are killed or go to prison Kevin should have just gone to work.
Same concept with the movie Friday. If Craig would of just never smoked with Smokey none of that other shit would of happened. Smokey told Big Worm that they both smoked some of his weed, putting Craig in the mix. Craig should of just said no. And to think they was both finna get shot for $200. Smokey tried to steal the $200 from Deebo and got Craig into more shit. Low key colorism too. Smokey the dark skin one got Craig the light skin one in trouble.

It's like he rolled up the window to avoid that awkward moment when the conversation and wheelings and dealings have taken their course and the strange silence that follows afterward.
What I like about this scene is the contrast with the first three seasons. In the Barkesdale storyline, the dealers have fancy clubs and front organisations to cover their tracks. They have family and a culture. By the end of the series, the Game isn't about being hard, or having a code, or honor, or any of that. It's not a part of the community or a way out of poverty and into a glamorous lifestyle. It's not about being smarter and more cunning. It's just blank-faced psychopaths sitting in a concrete wasteland, ordering people dead with a nod of the head for next to no reason. Even the music is different. It's empty violence now, the end point of the arms race between drug dealers.
That’s what got Kevin killed, not Bodie’s advice to go talk to him. Although, maybe they’d never have heard that he got picked up on that charge had he not went and self snitched to Marlo. Sorry Kevin.
Man when Chris was like "you was supposed to do that" I knew Kev was done 😂 Kevin didn't follow instructions. Bodie told him just to get out in front of why the police had him that's it but Kevin tried to demonstrate his cleverness to Marlo and ended up saying way too much.
bguzewi0 Mostly the latter IMO. Either he told Randy something he definitely shouldn't be spreading, or he asked a snitch to do a simple task for him. Either way dude can't be trusted.
No Marlo was a psychopath. Kev didn't snitch he just killed him because he fucked up on what Chris told him to do with them killing Lex. Watch your episodes fam
Kevin definitely fucked up, which was a fatal mistake when dealing with Marlo. As others said, him not being trustworthy or loyal likely played a factor as well. If he'd sell out his on man, what's to prevent him from potentially snitching to police or lying about the details he gave Randy? The look on Marlo's face when Kevin is placed in the truck reveals all.
bguzewi0 Kevin fucked up by saying Chris and snoop did kill Lex when he saw Randy under that bridge thing selling candy and he gave him some money and said : " Just be coo aight". Kev told Randy Chris and snoop went pow!
bguzewi0 he was sporadic, inconsistent w handling things. Like sometimes he had compassion & let ppl live like lex's corner other times he'd do somthn like this
This is my favorite season just because it lowkey feels like a horror movie with how Marlo’s crew essentially just MASS MURDERS anyone and everyone that could cause them problems. Even characters I didn’t particularly like or care for-I FELT HORRIFIED FOR THEM whenever Chris and Snoop showed up to take them for a walk.
He was only in the show from season 3-5 sadly.. he was dope ass character so I wish he was in more. Definitely need to get more seasons of this show!!!
If Little Kevin had put in his own work instead of subcontracting that shit to some kid (Randy), no one would have known about how Lex died and Little Kevin would still be on the corner rubbin his hands together like Birdman.
I was 19/20 years old when this aired. Back when nothing hurt and I went outside in a bikini in freezing temperatures. Now first thing in the morning I'm a character in a Russian novel, 'everything is pain'.
A lot of people think that the way Kevin told his story is what got him killed. Kevins fate was already sealed nothing he said was gonna change that. Marlo just wanted to see how much Randy knew and what else Kevin said. They were waiting to see if any more loose ends needed to be taken care of and once Kevin swore he said nothing more. That was the end of it and they sent him to his death.
I think they already knew he snitched. Marlo just wanted to hear it from his own mouth. Unfortunately, when they put him in the back of the truck or suv it was a wrap...rih little kevin..smh
Typically when you're given a task and you don't follow it in these sorts of situations, things get bad. In addition, if your boss already knows the real story and you lie to him anyway. Well...
Yeah what would have made it more interesting is if Kevin would have just admitted to Marlo that he messed up and took responsibility. You have to wonder if Marlo would have shown him any mercy. I am guessing not.
@@jonathanturbide2232 no what sealed his fate was getting a known snitch involved in the hit and word got to Marlo's crew before Kevin even went to him that also had a domino effect which not only cost Kevin his life but Bodie loses his life shortly after they find Kevin's body Randy gets put in a group home and knocks poot out of the game
@Michael Swanson read my previous comment Marlo's crew already got word that Kevin brought a snitch in for the hit nothing could save him once marlo found out
We have to agree that the actor behind Lil Kevin played the character with passion. He brings the character to life so well that you don't even realize it's a portrayal. The Wire had good writers, but they were supported by good actors and actresses.
@@DavidLLambertmobile That's how those conversations would go in real life. "Real" actors would have over-performed the scene. That's why I can't take stuff like breaking bad seriously. Yea it's an entertaining show, but in the real world, Walt would have got packed up real quick. Just a lot of over the top extra Hollywood shit in a lot of crime dramas where the Wire kept it as esoteric and authentic as possible. You can even hear and see in Kev's voice and actions talking to Bodie the skepticism on if Bodie is making the right call with his advice. The look on his face in the trunk. Just chilling. It's like you could be watching that from your window
@chorseundrgrd and in the real world Marlo would've got "packed up" even quicker. There was nothing remotely "authentic" about Marlo going over Prop Joe's head to the Greeks nor him outlasting everyone else. In the real world he would've gotten killed or sent to prison.
Little Kevin killed himself in this situation. 1. He should've just stuck to the objective that was given to him. He should've told Lex to go to the playground and kept Randy out of it. At that point he got someone extra involved that didn't need to be, especially not a kid like Randy. Then to make matters worse, Kevin went and pretty much told Randy what happened to Lex. 2. Kevin comes back on the block playing innocent to Bodie like the only reason he got picked up was for lying about his name. Going off what he gets told, Bodie DOES NOT give Kevin bad advice. Bodie's just telling Kevin for as long as you've been missing, Marlo will think something's up so plead your case before they come looking for you. 3. Last but not least, the finale in Kevin's fuck-ups is he switched his story. He snitched on Randy to protect his own skin, but in doing so he also showed that he didn't follow instructions given. He should've said exactly what he said to Bodie and left it there. Instead he points the finger at Randy, exposes both of them and ends up dead. If only Bodie knew the true reason why he got taken out...
NotGonnaFallFor Thegayassnameyougot -it takes or minute or two to type out a thought like that. you're just so stupid that you think coming up with something worth saying takes a lot time. obviously you're not familiar with how intelligence works
It didn't matter if he did switch up his story or not word already got to Marlo that Randy was involved in the hit Kevin was a dead man walking for bringing him in
Stefan Coleman He would have been better off not going to talk to Marlo and his crew. No one wass looking for him and they had stopped talking about Lex. So it was bad advice. Still his fault for going to try to explain himself and getting Randy involved.
He fucked up when he told randy.although he should of done it himself, he didnt have to tell randy after the fact and randy probably would of been clueless as hell.
GrizzINK - and the same went for Omar robbing the stash house in season 1.. which lead to Brandon dying, which lead to Wallace dying, which lead to Stringer's eventual death as well as Omar was out for revenge. That stash house robbery was the catalysts for a lot of events though out the series as well. It was all on Omar as well.
DJ Devinstation I know he should’ve just told lex himself and left randy out of it. Randy knew about it, and began telling the principal all this stuff because he was afraid of what would happen. But you know who really fucked up? HERC during the interrogation Little Kevin mentions randy and Herc makes a face like he knows who he is talking about and tries to play it off so it falls on Kevin to realize randy snitched, so when he talks to Marlo he tells him that Randy snitch but that also causes problems because it wasn’t randy job to do that and now a kid got cops looking for a murderer
It's bad advice. In the game if you get 320'd, the last you would do is run back to your captain and say you didn't rat. If you get picked up, you already know they know. When you get back, continue the game like you never left.
R.i.p. little kevin. Just another minor character who has more character development than some major characters in other shows. The wire does this so well. Almost every character you grow to love. Now that is good writing, story telling, and character development. Hence why the wire is the best show of all time.
I think you hit the nail on the head where pretty much EVERY CHARACTER (no matter how minor) feels ACTUALIZED and you get the feeling that they have their whole daily schedule they attend to even when you’re not watching a scene they’re in so when the focal point of the plot comes back around to them, you feel sorta like you’re catching back up with an old acquaintance who have been busy taking care of business during the time intervals you weren’t seeing them.
@@nickpagano7134 Sopranos is a more entertaining show with in a tried and true genre that had a much larger appeal than the Wire. It was a more popular show and it is more fun to watch but the Wire is a better show holistically. There are a dozen great mob stories, there's only one Wire.
The worst part had to be telling Bodie afterwards, cuz he knew there was nothing he could do but more so that it caught him so off guard cuz he thought Kevin was innocent.
Hennything is possible he was suppose to deliver the message to Lex himself “to meet Lex GF at the park” instead he told Randy to do it. Randy told Lex, and after Lex was killed Kevin is seen telling Randy that Lex ain’t coming back out of the Ally because Chris and Snoop gave him a visit or something of that nature. The second he said that he done fucked up. Randy is a teen w/ a big mouth and starts talking not in a intentional way, but just saying what Kevin said, which is why Randy gets marked as a snitch. Lex was Bodie friend, so Lil Kev did betrayed Bodie, and Lex because he never told Bodie that he was the one who did it, or attempt to set it up. lol Kev had a good relationship w/ Marlo, Bodie was force to work for Marlo, and he came to terms with it, even when Bodie gets killed he was still working on Marlo Corner. At the end of the day Kev got his ass dealt with for not doing what he was told, and having a big mouth.
Jaspers Deblin "Lil Kev had a good relationship w/ Marlo." Ummm I don't think Marlo even knew Little Kevin existed until that day he came down there. He was just some young kid working for Bodie. Bodie was forced to take Marlos package knowing he'd be murdered if he didn't which was inferior to the package he had been getting from Prop Joe.

Bodie’s advice was the advice he would have given to Wallace had he had the chance, and in that situation it might have actually worked. He didn’t give bad advice in a general sense, he just didn’t know how to operate around an irrational psychopath because there is really no way to do so.
He also didn't know how involved Kevin was with the murder, or that he didn't tell Lex himself like he was supposed to. If Bodie had all the facts he probably wouldn't have told Kevin to go find Marlo.
The minute Chris says, "You was supposed to do that", it was all over for him. It would have taken a hail mary. A.) He showed that he disobeyed orders. B.) He did it out of fear, which doesn't qualify as a good reason to a psychopath like Marlo, and C.) As a result of B.), Marlo had no time for weak employees.
@@OGCagedtrue but since he was doing his job in luring lex he wld have been in no danger from Marlo . The police have no way of knowing about his role in lex's murder. Having said that, Marlo might kill him if the police by some means connect him to the murder to cut the trail of evidence

Marlo was actually very intelligent.
Yeah little Kevin had that end coming. Him and Cheese were both one mouth flap away from death in every scene. That ending. Poor little Kevin. He should have stayed at grandmas.
He is intelligent but he is a psycho. He rules by fear alone. Marlo was right to ace him, he had a big mouth and stupidly opened up Marlo's organisation to outsiders about the bodies (to Randy and eventually the police). He had to go, this was nothing like the security guard issue.

Seeing his own grief on his face is probably what set him over the edge enough to try to snitch

We have to agree that the actor behind Lil Kevin played the character with passion. He brings the character to life so well that you don't even realize it's a portrayal. The Wire had good writers, but they were supported by good actors and actresses.
Retarded ass comment. That’s called acting, Dumbass
When i was a kid i honestly couldnt tell who were serious actors when it came to the street dudes. They made it as authentic as possible.
His acting skills were 🤷🏽♂️ but it's not like every actor in the metro DMV area are Lawrence Olivier level. 🎭
If only Bodie knew the true reason why he got taken out...
good shit

Kev got himself killed by not following protocol. That small decision caused a domino effect
No doubt about that, he never needed to tell Randy to do that.
GrizzINK - which suck cos Chris told Michael they would be like family..
Bodie actually gave him good advice. It was just too little, too late.
Richard Rozay More so he ran his mouth too much and unnecessarily brought in a snitch into the business.
SlackAlot Bodie didn’t know about the Lex situation, as far as he knew it was jus the cops on their regular bullshit.
So little Kevin was part of Marlo crew and not Avon's or prop Joe crew
R.i.p. little kevin. Just another minor character who has more character development than some major characters in other shows. The wire does this so well. Almost every character you grow to love. Now that is good writing, story telling, and character development. Hence why the wire is the best show of all time.
Major characters Like whom?
Way better then rings of power
I think you hit the nail on the head where pretty much EVERY CHARACTER (no matter how minor) feels ACTUALIZED and you get the feeling that they have their whole daily schedule they attend to even when you’re not watching a scene they’re in so when the focal point of the plot comes back around to them, you feel sorta like you’re catching back up with an old acquaintance who have been busy taking care of business during the time intervals you weren’t seeing them.
Sopranos better
@@nickpagano7134 Sopranos is a more entertaining show with in a tried and true genre that had a much larger appeal than the Wire. It was a more popular show and it is more fun to watch but the Wire is a better show holistically. There are a dozen great mob stories, there's only one Wire.

djwestbrook36 why did it happen?
Jaspers Deblin "Lil Kev had a good relationship w/ Marlo."
Ummm I don't think Marlo even knew Little Kevin existed until that day he came down there. He was just some young kid working for Bodie. Bodie was forced to take Marlos package knowing he'd be murdered if he didn't which was inferior to the package he had been getting from Prop Joe.

Little Kevin got himself killed to be honest, all for involving Randy.
Also Marlo's stare at 2:31 is pure evil
Kev never should've went to Marlo, that was a death sentence. And Kev putting his responsibility onto a young kid (randy) its hard to feel sorry for him. Bodie should never have told Kev to talk to Marlo. but Kev should have never passed his responsibility onto a young kid like Randy.
@@michaelcory2578 Kev shoulda stayed his fatass out in the country
@@michaelcory2578 They would've heard about his arrest and by hiding away he would look guilty. He got himself killed whichever way you look at it.
@@69DangerousD He was a dead man walking. It is funny how Kevin mentions keeping ‘distance’ between himself and Lex. The only distance between them now is their graves in the same damn vacant, probably.
I blame String. Had he not set up Brother, had he not got Avon locked up, Marlo would be dead, Michael would be boxing, McNulty and Freeman would still be the true cops.
Slim had the drop on Marlo and called Avon for the green light. Avon was in cuffs and didn't answer. Slim said "We missed our shot. Let's roll."
backgroundni99a Ok yeah, I forgot about that part. Avon should've had a standing shoot-on-sight order for Marlo and Omar.
Yea. I bet he wish those "Sunday morning" dudes were on Marlo.
backgroundni99a Stringer went from being one of my favorite characters to a dude I despised. Lol. Started doing all kinds of foul stuff.
Two Cents J yea he killed D, fucked his girl behind his back, then beat the shit out of avon
Such a dead-give-away the way he said “nah, I swear”, with the nose twitch and all. he might as well have just snitched on himself right there. lol.
Chris said "you were supposed to do that" lmfao🤣 Kevin's fate was already sealed. He just walkin round not knowin it.
An on-screen execution wouldn't have been NEARLY as disturbing as him getting muscled into the back of a car by those jackals.
Got that Plymouth Rock
I love the little chats between Bodie, Poot, and some of the other corner boys before the plot actually kicks in.
