She's such good actress, the director of this show waited for a year to her accept this role because she wasn't sure if she can potray this role but she's Killing it.
I still think the wildest thing about the opening sequence is not just that Youngwoo can memorize and recall everything at such a young age…but she actually understands it on a critical level. Like, she understands the context enough to - in the moment and under duress/stress - just spit out the correct legal facts, precedent, and situation. Her analytical and cognitive abilities at the age of freaking FIVE are better than people older than her because it’s beyond rote memorization and progressed to comprehension and application of the memorized principle. So insane…
It might just be my interpretation speaking from experience, but i think the reason why she often says random nonsense things and then somehow connect it to the main problem and solving it is because her brain working too fast for a normal person to understand her.
Its called savant. A small percentage of autistic people are savants. They have special mental capabilities. Musical savants are more well known. Such as kodi lee from AGT.

Hi! Im a korean speaker and I wanted to make a note about when junho says "one two three" to help young woo go through the revolving doors. This isn't super important but sometimes translators don't put 1 to 1 translations in order for it to make more sense to the viewer. In Korean, he says "쿵, 짝짝" And it is basically sound effects, and doesn't mean anything, and thus doesn't have an equivalent in English. It's similar to how, if someone were to sing, for example, the Imperial March from star wars, they might say "bum bum bum bu babum bu babum" I don't know if that makes sense, but that's why they put "one two three" in the subtitles.
I have 2 deaf daughters and boy it was quite a journey with them. We got into so many stuff and they were like Woo Young, they always explained their classmates that they were deaf and show them how to speak to them and everything. Now one is studying Psychology and the other Nutrition, full scholarships. It was a tough ride for them and for me but they are amazing. So brave and hardworking. That´s why I loved this drama so much. My 2 girls didn´t speak until they were like 6 o 7 years old, like Young Woo. They have come a long way.

Fun facts, all the cases happened in real life, they brought the copyright on the attorney who made a book/article about his cases. The production made an extra mile to convince the attorney and that time the actress Park Eun Bin rejected the role and choose another drama King’s Affection, the direct has an eyes for her so they waited for her to wrap up this drama and offer again the role. They didn’t imagine that this drama will be so popular, it started with low rating and after the pilot and second episode the response was massive! Even international audience got hook into it, maybe because its relatable? Anyway everything will be unboxed every episode

idk if anyone else has already said this or explained the whale obsession, but one of the characteristics of autism is having hyperfixations, meaning having one subject you are extremely fixated on to the point of knowing every fact about it and finding comfort in it. for young woo, that is whales :)
Tiny correction as an autistic person! It's a special interest, hyper fixations are short periods of time you obsess over something to gain temporary endorphins. Once you bore of it, you find another thing to latch onto this only happens to non-allistic neurodivergent people (non-autistic but more like adhd). Special Interests are permanent and stay with you and constantly plague your mind and impossible to not talk about.

Some, autistics are fixated with different things. In this drama the main character has it with whales. Some who are Asperger’s , also have a special interest in a variety of things, such as a particular book, country, language etc. they do get over it. They get board, and jump to another liking. My daughter’s was Star Wars, since a kid and still has. Had it with Japan, tried to learn the language, went to the country, loves it, and now it’s make up. They excel at everything they do.

Ohh what a surprise! It's my first k-drama, I'm on ep, 15 right now and I really don't want it to end . It's has everything: romance, comedy, mystery and A LOT of wholesome moments 🥰 Oh and some of the cases attorney Woo handles are based on real events.
So much good about this show. As a well over middle aged woman from the suburbs I didn’t think I’d identity with any characters. Found out, I identify with all. I hope it gets nominated for an Emmy.

In case you're still confused, they're saying 'kung jjak jjak' like you'd say 'cha cha cha' for a waltz - it's not really as the subtitles states, which interprets the meaning as counting 'one, two, three' to follow a rhythm. So yeah, it's an interpretation of what is said for your understanding of the situation rather than a direct translation. 😀 Also, Choi Sooyeon is an interesting character - she starts off feeling some resentment for Woo Youngwoo as she's helped her in the past but only saw the negative impact on herself, but this is at odds with her still kind of wanting to do the right thing. One more clarification - their names all start with their surnames...so for example, the main character's name is Youngwoo - Woo is her surname, so they'd call her Woo Youngwoo.
As someone who works with autistic kids, couldn’t help but get emotional when she said her first words or milestones. It really changes the families life

I love this show so much. Park Eun Bin is such a brilliant actress. She's in one of my favorite shows, Hello My Twenties, and she is so chaotic and funny in that. If you want another great kdrama to watch, Little Women was a roller coaster of a show, I highly recommend it

I'm sure/hope others already told you, but the Attroney Choi Su-yeon saying, "Are you stupid? Are you an idiot?" always gets all reactors angry at her as a character - but something gets lost in translation. In Korean, many friends say certain things that sound mean or harsh in English- like "Do you wanna die. I'll kill you." and "Are you stupid?" It doesn't actually mean they will kill or it doesn't really mean they think they're stupid or calling them stupid. It is used more like "I know you're not stupid so make better choices!" I hope that makes sense. Because Choi Su-yeon is actually a good person who looks out and helps Woo Young-woo (as she said she did in college.)

I just finished this series yesterday, and it was really good. South Korea has so many good series to watch and quite a few are on Netflix. Junho isn't saying one, two, three. One, two, three can be said in two ways in Korean: 하나 (hana), 둘 (dul), 셋 (set), or Sino-Korean 일 (il), 이 (ee), 삼 (sam).

I started this show because I wanted something low effort to sleep to, and I thought the trailers were like a quirky Hallmark type show. I was so surprised the level of respect and care they show for autism, and on top of that actually wove some interesting, edge-of-your-seat plots. I was pleasantly surprised! No way I could fall asleep while this is on until I inevitably finish it and start the reruns, lol. Glad you guys love it too

Woo's girlfriend in this when they do their greeting Woo's name is the same front to back and her friends name is Circle so their whole chic hand movements thing is like they are round. Also there is going to be a season 2.
I'm 71 years old with bipolar disorder. The woo character was magnificently portrayed by Park Eun Bin, that she won the prestigious Baeksang Best Actress Award 4 her amazing versatility. She is a gifted woman, actress, singer, and dancer who can play the violin, drums, guitar n piano. I love ur reaction on Woo Young Woo. U guys were totally invested n absolute empathy 4 disabled people like me. I look forward 2 ur reaction on another Kdrama. Unfortunately, I only prefer the ones with Park Eun Bin. I don't think anyone talking about the whales here - autistic people has a fixation, something they are obsessed with. It's a key ASD trait. For YW its whales. Whales have another significance in the show. The company she joined Hanbada the name means Oceans. The competitor company Taesan means Mountans. Both powerful names but YW definitely belong in the sea with her whales.
I think the show is good to help people better understand how to treat others with differences. Also that just because the way someone acts doesn’t fit into societal “ norms” doesn’t mean they are less than. It’s a good show with a lot of value and life lessons. Also it helps us to better understand autism and how loud noises and touching can be too much stimulation. It’s always good to get consent before touching someone especially if you don’t know their boundaries or what’s comfortable for them.

Such a good show. I love that the quirky elements meld with the smart writing for the legal aspects. And I just beam every time she gets her badass wind scene and hits upon the solution to her case. It kills me; it feels like her doing her signature move in a wrestling match. Lol

I also have Autism as well and can affirm that childhood silence is indeed a typical symptom of the disorder. I do not like the fact that people have started not referring to it as such due to the fact that we *(people with Autism) are not normal and while we all do not share the exact same symptoms there are several similarities amongst all of us. Childhood silence is just one, but some others are no to little empathy *(although some, like me, are empathic. It's just rare), do not like to be touched except by people we love & trust **(mostly immediate family members, think mom & dad and/or lover/spouse) and make harsh snapping judgements at others when we feel cornered, embarrassed and/or confused. These are just a few similarities that almost all autistic people share.

Your reaction to the 1st episode did not disappoint!!🔥🔥🔥 Due to work, I only got to episode 4, but I am happy to watch it with you again from the beginning!!! Just keep 2 things in mind when watching K-dramas from Netflix: 1. Select "English" subtitles, NOT "English CC" because the 2nd one is incorrect, used for dubbed episodes. 2. Koreans like Hungarians use their last name/ family name first, and then their first name. For example, here in the states, we say, "David Johnson". In Korea because they use the last name first, they would say, "Johnson, David. So Young Woo's name, here in the states is," YoungWoo Woo." Wished she had a different last name so it would be less confusing but oh well... Keep up the great work and keep these reactions coming cuz sleep can wait~! LOL 😉✌️🙏
If you're looking for another korean drama to react to after this, i highly recommend Money Heist Korea. So far, they have released 6 episodes and the next 6 will most likely be out by the end of this year. It's definitly one of my favorite shows i've watched this year.
I want it too but i dont think is a good idea because the original money heist they watched already . So remake gonna desappoint them but i love korean money heist too.

Yes, the "khoong cak cak" you guys hear is a Korean way to imitate waltz tempo. That's also why we hear some kind of waltz for the background music

In Korean, many friends say certain things that sound mean or harsh in English- like "Do you wanna die. I'll kill you." and "Are you stupid?" It doesn't actually mean they will kill or it doesn't really mean they think they're stupid or calling them stupid. It is used more like "I know you're not stupid so make better choices!" I hope that makes sense. Because Choi Su-yeon is actually a good person who looks out and helps Woo Young-woo (as she said she did in college.)

I just finished this series yesterday, and it was really good. South Korea has so many good series to watch and quite a few are on Netflix. Junho isn't saying one, two, three. One, two, three can be said in two ways in Korean: 하나 (hana), 둘 (dul), 셋 (set), or Sino-Korean 일 (il), 이 (ee), 삼 (sam).
You’re right, he was mimicking the sounds of the door so that Youngwoo can time it correctly. He was saying 쿵 짝짝. As you said if he was counting it’d be 하나 둘 셋/일 이 삼! 잘했다! ㅋ

I started this show because I wanted something low effort to sleep to, and I thought the trailers were like a quirky Hallmark type show. I was so surprised the level of respect and care they show for autism, and on top of that actually wove some interesting, edge-of-your-seat plots. I was pleasantly surprised! No way I could fall asleep while this is on until I inevitably finish it and start the reruns, lol. Glad you guys love it too

Woo's girlfriend in this when they do their greeting Woo's name is the same front to back and her friends name is Circle so their whole chic hand movements thing is like they are round. Also there is going to be a season 2.

I'm 71 years old with bipolar disorder. The woo character was magnificently portrayed by Park Eun Bin, that she won the prestigious Baeksang Best Actress Award 4 her amazing versatility. She is a gifted woman, actress, singer, and dancer who can play the violin, drums, guitar n piano. I love ur reaction on Woo Young Woo. U guys were totally invested n absolute empathy 4 disabled people like me. I look forward 2 ur reaction on another Kdrama. Unfortunately, I only prefer the ones with Park Eun Bin. I don't think anyone talking about the whales here - autistic people has a fixation, something they are obsessed with. It's a key ASD trait. For YW its whales. Whales have another significance in the show. The company she joined Hanbada the name means Oceans. The competitor company Taesan means Mountans. Both powerful names but YW definitely belong in the sea with her whales.
I think the show is good to help people better understand how to treat others with differences. Also that just because the way someone acts doesn’t fit into societal “ norms” doesn’t mean they are less than. It’s a good show with a lot of value and life lessons. Also it helps us to better understand autism and how loud noises and touching can be too much stimulation. It’s always good to get consent before touching someone especially if you don’t know their boundaries or what’s comfortable for them.
Im autistic and this show is one of my absolute favourites! Its so well done!!

I also have Autism as well and can affirm that childhood silence is indeed a typical symptom of the disorder. I do not like the fact that people have started not referring to it as such due to the fact that we *(people with Autism) are not normal and while we all do not share the exact same symptoms there are several similarities amongst all of us. Childhood silence is just one, but some others are no to little empathy *(although some, like me, are empathic. It's just rare), do not like to be touched except by people we love & trust **(mostly immediate family members, think mom & dad and/or lover/spouse) and make harsh snapping judgements at others when we feel cornered, embarrassed and/or confused. These are just a few similarities that almost all autistic people share.

Just keep 2 things in mind when watching K-dramas from Netflix:
1. Select "English" subtitles, NOT
"English CC" because the 2nd one is incorrect, used for dubbed episodes.
2. Koreans like Hungarians use their last name/ family name first, and then their first name. For example, here in the states, we say, "David Johnson". In Korea because they use the last name first, they would say, "Johnson, David.
So Young Woo's name, here in the states is," YoungWoo Woo." Wished she had a different last name so it would be less confusing but oh well...

If you're looking for another korean drama to react to after this, i highly recommend Money Heist Korea. So far, they have released 6 episodes and the next 6 will most likely be out by the end of this year. It's definitly one of my favorite shows i've watched this year.
I want it too but i dont think is a good idea because the original money heist they watched already . So remake gonna desappoint them but i love korean money heist too.
