Tony either has an anniversary dinner tonight, or a well paying gig. Anyway, I appreciate the sharp appearance. His teachings are always sharp, so I have no comment there. The man is a jazz icon.
So glad you demonstrated the simple but essential interpretation of swing in the rhythm...,yes it's not straight time, it's swung..,triplet feel - count it any way you wish, it's three in the time of a quarter note in 4/4...,I'm sure most of your subscribers know this, but music publishers don't always tell you that a tune is in swing time. Lecture over...,
@@TonyWinston Hello sir, I wanted to have a closer look at your chorus of improvisation and I have transcribed the right hand. At that speed, it is a good solo ! I think it is worth looking at... I can email the chart if you will.
Hellow, master! It's aways a pleasant jorney to follow the several nuances of jazz, when you show us some diferent options to make way inside of scales. God bless you' 👏😎🇧🇷
Always enjoy your perspective and analysis of the music Tony. What type of tablet are you using? Any particular apps you like? Thx so much for your clear and concise videos. You make it all look easy for the novices like myself.
I had to use the playback speed option to slow this down, but still way too fast for me! But, I'm new to this, so it's to be expected. I ordered both of that author's books. The reviews said that reading the first one helps to understand when you start reading the second one. See my piano lessons (Dan Brown, Country Piano) on how to play country piano. It's very simple compared to this! I've been trying to learn how to play swing my whole life, and now it's time to make it happen! Thanks for all you do! I really like your easy-going style! I just discovered your channel, and I'm gonna start with the easy stuff, like ALL OF ME, or TAKE THE A TRAIN. I think you did lessons on both of those! I would also like to join your weekly, live presentations on Sundays!
@@TonyWinston Yes, good! I have some videos called RAIN. They are not country, but they are designed to get people playing simple chord progressions quickly! Hey, I did your lesson on Yardbird Suite this morning! What was super helpful for me was your explanation of the rootless chords on the left hand, and how you can use the 9s to get different colors! I know how to play those. What is hurting me is the right hand improvisation, but I just need to do it more, and as you said, start with easy half steps into proper chord tones! I’m adopting you as my new teacher! Thanks for sharing your gift with the world 🌎!
@@TonyWinston I’m looking forward to that one, on the enclosures! Also, for me, I see Duke Ellington as the gateway to jazz. I’m working pretty exclusively on his music, as I can play a lot of it except for the solos.
Looking sharp, Brother. Congratulations on 100K. Man,you sure can play. One of Bird's most beautiful melodies. You might enjoy Carmen McCrae's vocal version from the late 50's or early 60's. Singer/Pianist like Maestro Tony. LOVE THE CONTENT!!! ⭐🌹⭐

Fantastic playing! I always learn from every video of yours… love to hear your creativity, so very enjoyable!
Love the lines in your opening solo !!!!
Thanks - I like the notes but my rhythm is a little suspect in spots. Eighth notes are too even - not enough swing in my opinion
