    Coach Be is my favourite HMB guest, and you guys have a STACKED guest list for your videos. Learn so much every time she’s on. Had several lightbulb moments with this one 💡 My feet have a tendency to tip inwards, I often need to think about not tilting my pelvis and I think I need to strengthen my traps to be able to activate my shoulders properly. Thank you for this video 🙏🏻 I hope Coach Be comes back for another video soon! 🤞🏻

    It's so interesting how much of a crossover I'm finding with some weightlifting or calisthenics content (esp squat university) in terms of mind-body connection.
    For instance:
    - pushing out the knees in squatting (banded exercises can help with reminding you to do this)
    - much of the glute/hip stuff reminds me of good deadlift technique
    - scap retraction before pulling movements is a must

    This is honestly one of the most useful climbing video's I have ever watched! Thank you so much for making it! I'm gonna try out these tips and I'm sure it's gonna help me a lot. I think in certain positions if comes naturally to engage properly, but in others it just doesnt and I end up wondering why I'm so unstable and can't do those types of moves. Like, for me dropknees come naturally, but any dynamic move I just lose all engagement, mainly in the glutes I think 😅

    The only thing I don't like about this video is that I live in a different country and can't book a coaching session with Be (well, unless I happen to travel to England, but no plans so far!), but this video just highlights how great of a coach she is. Amazing advice that nails the holistic perspective without lacking detail or focus, and highlighting things that often get hidden behind "improving your technique" or similar vague terms. I came home from a long lead + bouldering session two hours ago, and now I just want to go back and run through some of these drills 😂 I really feel like I learned a bunch just from watching this.

    Brilliant. I am new to climbing (literally been to the climbing wall once, partly inspired by this channel to be fair... its your fault Hannah ;) ) and am sure all these great tips are gonna help me train good movement patterns from the start. I have also been wearing barefoot shoes for a while now. So, I have a question about climbing shoes. Does the climbing industry need to catch up to the idea of more functional climbing shoes, or are we all doomed to squish toes (especially my big toe inwards) into climbing shoes built for the climb rather than the feet. Feels counter intuitive to push our feet into a weakened position when, as Be says, the feet are our foundation. I am tempt to try out the Eliot - Barefoot climbing shoes, but fear the dreaded mocking of the noob from those in the know and that at the end of the day, squished feet are in my future.
    Perhaps a follow up from your rental shoe video, barefoot climbing shoes versus traditional climbing shoes. ;)

    • @hannahmorrisbouldering
      @hannahmorrisbouldering  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I use them for everyday wear, and I wear my Mad Rock Drones for climbing! I don’t think there’s many barefoot climbing shoe options, and I find I still need / prefer a traditional climbing shoe for climbing performance. For me the idea with switching to Vivo’s for everyday is to build better strength and mobility in my feet / legs off the wall, which I can then make use of on the wall in regular climbing shoes.

    I started wearing barefoot shoes over a year ago. My toes are stronger, my back feels better, my posture is better. The one thing that annoys me is when I go climbing I have cram my toes into the exact opposite of a barefoot shoe and now it is starting to get really painful to go from a wide natural toe splay into tight pointed climbing shoes. Are there any options that bridge this gap?

    • @hannahmorrisbouldering
      @hannahmorrisbouldering  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not that I know of, unless you purposefully wore your shoes too big, but that’s not ideal! I’ve been seeing barefoot shoes as offsetting performance shoes, and getting those training gains in for my feet when I’m not on the wall! 🦵

    • @Blue-pb7kz
      @Blue-pb7kz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've been wearing barefoot shoes for years but I'm not really convinced by people climbing in those five finger shoes (though I've seen it done). Looking for climbing shoes with a wide toebox helps though - I really enjoy the scarpa veloce! Maybe having a pair of soft wide shoes and another tighter pair for (certain types of) performance? The veloce are great for indoor bouldering especially with volumes, but occasionally I do think I'd go with something else if it's like... An outside edge on a tiny hold. But otherwise I guess there's a bit of a compromise to make.

    I think Nathan would get much lower on the squat if not all the way down if he just took a wider stance and pointed his toes out like Hannah did (but even wider because he’s tall) you can’t maintain balance in narrow pointed forward squat as you eventually hit a hip restriction.

      Hey! We asked Vivo, and I’m afraid the code should work internationally except for Switzerland, Austria and Czech Republic - because these websites are not centrally managed. However - Austria may be changing soon so the discount may be able to work in the near future :)

    Very “interesting” episode…I don’t believe I’ve heard bum or butt ever mentioned more in a climbing video.

    Awesome tutorial, thanks a lot! Is there a reason, why there's no link to her channel in the description? Ah ok, she doesn't really upload a whole lot.. Would be awesome though 🙏 www.youtube.com/@beclimbing-befuller33

    hate it when physios and coaches shame ppl for having a bad squat when so much of it comes down to your anatomy. Basic biomechanics could tell you that that guy would have a harder time squatting than Hannah just based on his femur length alone..same with ankle mobility. For some ppl no amount of stretching will ever improve ankle mobility.
