The art style of the animated portion of the spot looks similar to Inaba the Dreammaker and the Final Chapter movie. The 8-bit version of Lum no Love Song is cute as well, although apparently the chorus is only heard over the game's opening screen (otherwise the music, from what I've seen, is a continuous loop of the verse, and gets old VERY QUICK).
I didn't know Urusei Yatsura have many games, the art style is great, I've always loved the 80s animation and this is not an exception! Love that in the new opening from the reboot they put references to this games
Indeed, I was very tickled with the game references in the new opening, it's been a great fresh look at the stories, I've been thrilled with the quality. and revisiting of the series.
