This was that magical moment between Wheelchair Jimmy and Young Money Drake. It was like a 3 year window where Drake did his best stuff and most of the kiddies don't even know.
@@OnToBetterThings1987 I believe he wrote this one verse himself. BUT it's obvious as fuck who his whole O.G. style if formed from (phonte) funny people know Phonte himself, but not the group.
drake has rake in his name, and in the picture there are leaves everywhere. I think it's a subliminal message. Drake wants us to rake our lawns people. Look how pissed he looks about how serious this problem is.
Man....This Drake. I miss this Drake so much, before he made it big. Im still a fan but these 06-09 Drake tracks are timeless. The flow, the instrumentals, the beat, the calmness of "this era of Drake", nothing else musically can compare 💯 frfr
Mannn… nobody and I mean NOBODY will ever give me the same feeling that old Drake used to give me. The sample, the nostalgia, the smoothness, it still sounds so fresh. When the old Drake first came into the game he had the whole underground watching real close. These songs made him a underground legend fr
Drake's gonna "Shut It Down." He's "Unforgettable" and "Successful" for sure. "The Best I Ever Had." He "Lights Up" my iPod and stereo anyday of the week. I stay "Up All Night" listening to him. His music is like "Fireworks" in my skull. Everytime I listen, I sing along like its "Karaoke." If he stops singing, the music biz might as well be "Over." When I wasnt a great fan of hip hop. he "Showed Me A Good Time" and made me "Find My Love." I think I'll take some time to "Thank Him Now."-
This mixtape was the reason I became a Drake fan. The music he puts out now is why I still consider him to be my favorite artist. All that "he don't write his own shit" nonsense is what makes him a super power in the music industry. This earlier version of Drake, he wrote ALL of his shit, and wrote for others as well and still does to this day. With age and maturity comes evolution. And that's what he did to become the phenomenon he is today. Some of the greatest artists didn't write all of their own lyrics (Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Madonna, etc.) and they are absolute superstars and will still shine even after death. As long as he keeps making great music that I know I don't have to skip over half of an album just to get to a song that I like, then I will always be a fan of Drake, old or new shit.
Actually, Nickelus F wrote a few of his earlier tracks, like the ones he collabed with Nick on and "Best I Ever Had." But point taken. Not every verse has to be written 100% without any help. Sometimes you need perspective from outside of yourself.
Oct. 3,2023 and this song still bumps. Heard this song in highschool maybe even middle school and now im almost 30 and I’m playing this for my daughter born 2 months ago.
9th wonder sampling Anita had me hooked from the first day I heard this. I had downloaded a bunch of random drake songs from bearshare (same as limewire) and this one and slow it down were my absolute fav from his mixtape songs.
School has just begun and this is the first Saturday night - a perfect night to listen to the old Drizzy. #Fallseason #ComebackSeason #October'sVeryOwn
Anita Baker sample sweet love😘💯🔥I heard this like decades ago sounds like 👫🔥💯😎best track From Drake and lil brother top ten best collaboration and underated asf
My first time hearing this and I cannot stop playing it! I wish he would of just stayed like this drake! 9th wonder is so fucking dope for this track!!
he changed a lot in my opinion, he became a trapper, this is a super annoying form of music that would be better if it never existed cuz only a few can do good with trap music
i remeber the first time i played this tape man.....damn what happened drake i still fuck wit you but damn son can we real loyal drizzy fans still get some of this back smh
In the song Fear he said; "But it's funny having fans Who find you before anyone ever has the chance And build you up so you can be the biggest in the game And realize when you're there sometimes the shit don't fell the same" So true!!

People are really afraid to admit that Drake is really the goat
His old songs are nostalgic
I used to keep this on repeat. It's funny how our taste changes over time, however I can still listen to this classic Drake gem.
Still slaps in 2024. Taste didn’t change. The person sure. Music doesn’t. Like R Kelly.
This song is a clsssic! I’m here in 2023 ❤

Yeah but from a rap perspective, to be considered as a good mc you have to write your own lyrics. But yeah he still makes good music for sure

@Darth Troller he didn’t change, he just adapted. You can hear his own style even in this song, 13 years ago.
He did change but for the better. There’s a different sense of wisdom nowadays when he raps
