beriukay No, but he did say that the purpose for marriage is to birth children in the name of God. However, you don't hear anyone bringing that verse up because it's a double-edged sword. It hurts gays because they can't produce children, but it also counters couples who marry out of love or wanting to have a childless relationship.
RCDeschene Or those who are infertile. If people oppose marriage-equality because there would be some who simply cannot have children due to biological incompatibility (male-male, female-female), then they must also be opposed to marriages where one or both have fertility issues. Whether they are castrated, had their tubes tied, or a complete absence of sexual/reproductive function: erectile dysfunction in men, menopause in women.
I know checking the fertility status of the brides/grooms would be invasive, but, if the only purpose of marriage is for the creation of legitimate children (not born outside of wedlock), then something like this must be done, otherwise, everyone who holds this double standard is a hypocrite, and deserves to be called out on it.

As a Christian I applaud her GREATLY, and also him a bit for, "He who hates correction is stupid" (proverbs 12:1) so I can't say he's stupid/wrong anymore.
She basically quoted what Jesus said to those that were putting a woman to death under Judaic law. I wonder if he knew that and decided to follow the word of Jesus. Or maybe he just got called out on it and did it for face.

There is no telling what is in any man's heart and frankly who cares, you'll never truly know and you're wasting time by dwelling on it if you really want to change a man/woman's heart. Preach the truth as best you can in everything you do and sometimes use your words.
Andy Christ Actually, that story is known to have been invented. It suddenly appears far into the copying tree of the New testament. This isn't even controversial actually and if you have a good bible, it will include a footnote about that.

Thing is, everyone is a sinner. If you hate someone for a sin, you should start with hating yourself.
I'd say her argument against hatred for the LGBT community was strong and one should support that cause, but it was theologically flawed. What she quoted was a law given to jews(and those are laws entirely based on the idea "without bloodshed there can be no forgiveness"), not christians, and the qoutes from the new testament frequently given in this context adress people who chose to become christian. Therefore they should have accepted to hand over the control over their entire life to god, including their sexuality. What is pointed out in those contexts is "if you say you've handed over your life to god but actually keep some parts for yourself, you're living a lie".

Jesus upholds the laws set down in the Old Testament. Not one jot of those laws is to be ignored. You have it backwards.

I've used that quote with people and they hate it as that's one of the parts of the Bible that is just not 'convenient'. Some people need to blame their crappy lives on other people. That's what it boils down to. Politicians know this and exploit it. I don't think this politician deserves any plaudits for withdrawing the legislation. He thought he'd found a section of society that wouldn't fight back. This woman fought back and he backed down. It's just the 'knee jerk reaction' of the bully, nothing more.

Exactly, that was Jesus regulating on the hypocrites claiming to just be doing the work of God. Why do you say "xtians", by the way? I'm not Christian myself but that always comes across as needlessly disrespectful in an obnoxious sort of way. Typing Christ doesn't mean you believe Jesus was a divine saviour, it's just calling it what it's called; I don't like Nazi Germany or Adolf Hitler but I still capitalise where appropriate because the word call for it. Many people have done bad things under the guise of Islam but to say Isl*m or M*slims would come across as kind of hateful to any and all rather than just insulting people who have earned insults.

The bible permits the stoning of homosexuals because homosexuality is considered a sin. She provided him with a stone and permitted him to stone her for being a sinner, in case he's actually not using the bible verse as a cover for his personal prejudice against homosexuals.
Basically in the bible it says that if you're gay then you have to be stoned. So she brought in a stone and told the guy to stone her since she was lesbian.

To be fair, we don't know that she's a lesbian, only that she was born male. The majority of the male-to-female transgender women I've known are heterosexual; I only know one who is male-to-female transgender (pre-op; that surgery is expensive and insurance generally won't cover it) and she's homosexual (only interested in women). Admittedly anecdotal evidence isn't evidence at all, but this has been my experience and in any case there's nothing in the story to indicate her sexuality.
***** Also to add onto this, what she said also referenced the verse "Let he who has no sin cast the first stone". She seemed to be playing on both that line and the fact that in the past, lawbreakers were often stoned (and homosexuality was illegal).

Lin Wolfowitz No Lin, she is a transgendered woman, she might or might not have male anatomy depending on whatever or not she is have had operations, but her mind and soul are female, she is a woman.
Now someone in drag is a person who dress like the opposite gender, sometimes someone who do drag have some sort of difference in gender identity but sometime they just do it for fun or lie one I know who are a straight male who lie to dress in women's clothing every now and again since women's clothes are more beautiful, in either case someone in drag is dressing like the other gender, someone who is transgendered identify as another gender than what they where born as. Let me see if I can explain this to you, it would be the difference between dressing like a witch for whatever reason, either because it was Halloween or because it made you feel good to express yourself like that, and identifying as Wiccan no matter what you dress like. One of my friends, a transgendered woman dress completely gender neutral, jeans and a tshirt.
