J-metal, or heavy metal from Japan. The song came out last year in June , and is included on the 2nd album ,Seize the Fate, released last December.
Tamu Murata is the drummer you are so impressed by. Yes, 2 guitars, Saki and Hazuki,can shred with anyone. Mayu on vocals ,love her screams, cleans are great too. Hariguchi-san with the killer bass.
N-e-m-o-p-h-i-l-a (Ne-mo- feel -a) is a flower. They named the band after a flower because they are all female.
Next for them? Try the official lives for either Oiran, Seize the Fate, and Change the World , that have recently been released.
You can never go wrong by calling it Heavy Metal.
Nemophila is an amazing band. They are perfect.
And "Adabana" is my favourite their song.

Nemophila is a blue 5 petal flower
Little late but, Nemophila is technically considered J-Rock/J-Metal. Like BabyMetal, they mash genres together or one song could be more like Metalcore and the next song could be a ballad and the next could be Punk. It's something I always loved with this band since Revive (the album) came out in December of 2021, you don't really know what to expect what the next song is going to be. Tamu (the drummer) is very talented and has earned the My Goddess award in Japan twice for drums in 2015 and 2017, marking her place in history. Saki (the guitarist with the black guitar) has won the same award in 2015 for the guitar category. Hazuki (the guitarist who did the 8 finger tap solo) is a very technical player and this song was the first time she ever used the technique. With the past two songs you heard from them before, Mayu's cleans get to shine more than normal in this song, but, if you really want to hear her cleans shine even more, I'd suggest "Life" or "Now I Here" Hara-chan (the bass player) is a very talented and possibly underrated. She uses all three common styles of bass play throughout Nemo's log, with "Rollin' Rollin'" really showing that off. Happy to see another Nemo song here and can't wait fore more and more!

All are next level musicians, just happens that Tamu (one of the best drummers on the planet) is featured during this song..In others it may be Saki, or Hazuki( world class guitarists) or Mayu,(vocalist) that can sing like a bird, then rip your face off 1 second later.. Haraguchi-san(bass, also one of the absolute best) always providing the backbone and drive to every song...
Band maid prob wins in a vs just because they have a more popular fan base but talent wise I'm picking Nemophila!

I pick Band-Maid because they're different. Hanabie, Nemophila and Maximum the Hormone have similar style/vibe imo.

Nemophila would probably fall under Metalcore, especially with their heavier sruff.
EDIT: To get back up what Hollywood was saying, Tamu (the drummer) is one of the most respected drummers in Japan. She also plays tons of instruments. What I always liked about her playing is she approaches lots of things differently than your typical metal drummer. Mostly because she's not a metal drummer. She's a talented drummer that hangs her hat in a metal band.

Kawaii metal is Babymetal type things. Not this. This is amazing music from a really talented band.
Loudest concert I have ever been to, and one of the best. It was so loud I had to keep chasing my beer as it headed off the table due to the bass. If you want to see them do some kawaii watch the video for the song 'Night Flight'. Peace
man all these japanese female metal bands have insanely talented drummers!
I would definitely just put nemophila in the metal category. the have some hard rock songs, some more nu metal-ish ones, at least one that sounds like early 2000s US pop-punk but most of their songs fit into one of the many metal sub-genres.
and for what next.. I think you should do some live stuff or some covers of songs you know. they have a ton of covers on their youtube channel and a good amount of official live videos too.
That is why there is hardly anyone around currently who can hold a candle to these ladies. Metal at its best, and I don't just mean from Japan but in general. 🔥
To have Nemophila compete against Band-Maid would be unfair, two different worlds, but to see both TOGETHER on stage would be a dream come true. 🤘🏻

You need to do a deep dive on Nemophila they have many different styles and sounds , they also do awesome cover songs as well
If I’m not mistaken rock and metal is more popular in Japan than majority of the world. I believe I heard that more people in Japan listen to rock or metal than us pop or world pop which would be considered popular in Japan

Band-Maid and Nemophila are completely different bands, with entirely different genres at their core. Of course, they both drift in and out between genres, but Nemophila is decidedly a metal band at their core, with elements of thrash and hardcore. Band-Maid is a hard rock band at their core, with elements of punk, classic rock, pop, and heavy metal.
It’s not really fair to compare them, since they are both excellent in their own ways, and do things the other band won’t or can’t do. If you want to make comparisons, Nemophila is better compared to bands like Lovebites (power metal), Unlucky Morpheus (symphonic speed metal), Asterism (math metal), Galneryus (power metal), Light Bringer (melodic power metal), X Japan (speed metal), Dir en Grey (prog metal), Aldious (prog metal), and the absolutely insane Maximum the Hormone (groove and thrash metal, but honestly every genre).
The j-music scene is absolutely fucking huge, 2nd largest in the world after the US, and with music education compulsory in Japan, there are a lot of extremely talented musicians playing every genre you can imagine. I only listed a few metal centric bands, but that’s not counting all the punk, jazz, blues, indie, soul, and funk bands out there, not to mention the huge breadth of the pop scene, as well as the growing hip hop/rap scene.
I know it’s tempting to lump all the Japanese music acts together, but that’s like comparing all rap artists together, ignoring the regionality and sub genres in hip hop, like boom bap, crunk, g-funk, chopper, trap, drill, hyphy, etc, not to mention eras and the evolution of sound from the 70s origins, the rise in the 80s, the explosion in the 90s, and the diversity of the 2000’s and beyond.
More Nemophila, such an amazing band. Definitely recommend you check out the song “style” think you guys will enjoy that. Also check out their cover of Baby Metal’s “ Megitsune”
FYI, in a 2023 interview Moa said she plays the guitar. So she must be practicing, Keeping up.

Tamu Murata is the drummer and the oldest at 31. She’s a classically trained musician that plays quite a few instruments but drums are her main thing. Nemophila vs band maid is a joke. Band maid suck and are a gimmick.

Nemophila are pure 🔥🔥🔥. Adabana is a masterpiece. Tamu is one of the best and most well respected drummers in Japan. World class in every way.
Not a fan of pitting fan groups against each other but since you asked: Band Maid is very talented and infuse many creative elements into their songs. They are a more established band with a much larger and vocal fan base. That said Nemophila are better musicians at each instrument. Saki and Hazuki are technically superior guitarists and much better shredders. Tamu is an astounding drummer. She can play metal, progressive, rock, and jazz. Mayu is a more versatile vocalist. Band Maid fans will argue that Band Maid writes better songs. I don’t agree but it’s subjective. Band Maid is hard rock while Nemophila is metal.
I wouldn't say that's a fair comparison. Akane = Tamu, MISA > Haraguchi, Kanami =/> Saki/Hazuki. Mainly due to the fact she is a multi instrumentalist and she is a much better composer. Hazuki > Miku. And for vocals...It's all based on song style. Saiki cannot do the extreme/distorted vocals. But she can deliver fast paced rap like lyrical cadences on top of her standard vocal lines. While Mayu has her screams and distorted vocals. Even though BandMaid creeps up into the metal sphere from time to time. They stay in their genre more times than not, so it would be like comparing apples to oranges. Both bands have great music.

To be considered Kawaii Metal there needs to be some sort of Kawaii aesthetic. It's just J-Metal. This was not Kawaii at all. It was badass though 🔥🤘🏼 I'm pretty sure they would be popular in the Harajuku district of Tokyo.
Also, I don't like Band-Maid at all so I'd vote for this band, but they will still probably lose in a competition if fans were the judges because Band-Maid is more popular. However, this band is 726363366383 times more talented.
You got to do Style by Nemophila Rap its in it Mayu can rap like the best of them .And yes there Metal but fans kind of call it happy metal .Adabana is up there as one of there best but Style well you have to do it .

Hello rappers. The three best rock bands on the planet are Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila. Deal with it. None of the above have any serious competition this century. Word.
It's weird to say but its an insult to say this band is "Baby metal".. Its not that Baby metal are at all bad (They're amazing) but these women fucking dominate. Years ago we had "Kittie" an all female metal group. But Japan has an entire generation of female metal bands, and imo this band could be at the top of that list.. I played guitar for well over a decade, and these chicks have skills far beyond me.. Usually in bands you see women and you give them a "bonus" that they're not men.. But they play so extremely well live.. You can hear the Paul Gilbery/Marty Friendmen influence.. Imo the Japanese metal scene is very much on par with Australia.. Two countries you wouldn't expect, but have the best metal bands over the past 10-20 years.

The slow-motion video, over-handed tapping, and drumming with platform boots are all examples of things that look cool, but contribute nothing to the music they are creating.

The maid uniforms and short white dresses of other bands don't contribute anything to their music either. They do provide visuals, which are part of entertainment. Looking cool is part of the act.
Nempohila is more talented than BandMaid, period... but they are still a level down from LOVEBITES.
