i think the thing you're supposed to do is enlist the help of your village/tribe to help in raising the baby since it's a shift activity which cannot reasonably done by just one or two people. but we don't really do that anymore cause we're "civilized" so we just suffer now :)
Yes!! I was fortunate to have my mum stay for a few weeks recently. For a lot of 70-year-olds 6 hours of fragmented sleep is the norm, so she was more than happy to do a night shift 🙃
"It can make people feel bad." Can confirm, last month my manic brain didn't let me sleep for 3 weeks straight. I was hearing music coming out of my air conditioner by day 7... by day ten I heard my dead grandparents having conversations I couldn't discern coming from the kitchen, at two weeks I checked into a hospital, the meds they gave me made my insomnia worse, and the facility was run like a prison. I lied to the staff and told them I was doing better just so they would let me out. Went off all meds, slept like a baby.
Concrats on your mini-you❤. The last couple of months my sleep was very bad. But recently I took on the responsibility of taking care of a dog every other week, which has resulted in a steady day rhythm when the dog is with me, causing me to sleep better in those weeks. The other weeks I'm procrastinating my sleep by watching videos about sleep until 23:32😂
Congratulations on your tiny human. The best advice I got was to put them to bed when you go to bed not earlier. Within 3 weeks mine was falling asleep earlier and only waking once for a feed. By three months he was sleeping through till 6 am
Congratulations. Welcome to the life. My second is now in its terrible 2s and it's really terrible. Even with all the long nights and tantrums, I wouldn't change parenthood for anything in the world. Seeing them grow is just the best.
Sleep is for the weak. lol Seriously, I can't sleep more than 6 hours and napping is near impossible. 8 hours makes me groggier than if I haven't slept at all.
I'd focus more on how you feel during the day rather than how many hours you're getting. If you're not super tired (falling asleep at your desk, for example), or super irritated, it's possible that 6 hours is your individual sleep need and you're doing fine. Lots of talk around "needing" 8 hours, but 7 is the recommended amount and for certain ages or individuals 6 is just fine.
Oh Alarms for everything othwerwise youll forget to do things Alarms to wake up Alarms to go to work alarms to eat din Alarms to take shower Alarms to go to bed Alarms to drink water its important I highly recommend an Alexa or Phone or even computer alarms ... Scheduling is Key to feeling like you have control over your day Bullet Journaling and scheduling your day future days and week are so important... Also give yourself time to get to appointments so you can sit and relax for a moment before going to work, Especially if you have to see a doctor cause they show that just resting for 5 minutes before having your blood pressure taken can lower your blood pressure by 5 points which is amazing :)
Hmmm. On napping and timed eating, from what I've seen over the years it seems there's two types for each; one that benefits and one that doesn't. I'm a no napper and I do better grazing all day and having a high fiber, protein & fat snack right before bed. I wonder if this is true across the board. It'd make sense as it's difficult to graze and fit in a nap. Glad to see research is finally being done on what we can do realistically to improve our sleep health.
I wake up at 9am I drink a glass of water immediatly when I wake up. then I eat din at 4pm and I dont eat or drink anything except a glass of water with my sleep meds then watch Online " tv" to let my brain relax before crawling to bed ... NONA scary movies NoNa DUNT ! NONA ...soothing funny scifi tv before bed
(As I work with Samsung, I objectively don't have an unbiased answer to this). I like the ring because it's very much "set and forget" if you just want to track your health data and get insights on that. You don't get notifications, it can go a week without charging, I can wear a normal watch or no watch with it so it's a bit more fashionable. Note that it only works with Android. If any of these reasons are appealing to you, it's a good product either without or in addition to the watch. Otherwise the data they collect is the same. Hope that helps!
I'm really sorry if you felt that it was misleading! There are a few disclosures at the beginning (on screen and the TH-cam sponsored disclosure that pops up) and I did mention it early on in the video. I'm not intending to be defensive, just pointing out that I did what I thought was enough. I'll keep this in mind and try to be more transparent next time.
They're called sponsorships. They help creators earn money so that you can watch for free. You are always welcome to pay a TH-camrs salary so that they can make videos without ads...
Sleep science is so cool, but please do just say the video is an ad if you don't mind - I'm usually working whilst I listen to your videos so it's not always so clear if you say "thanks to xyz" cause it could be a small segment or a whole vid sponsorship :) Good luck with the baby 🙌 skincare is top class btw 🫡

We need to implement work place nap time
100% agree (George Costanza was onto something)
me either

Eyyyyyy wonderful to see you back, sleep deprived and delirious or otherwise xx
Thank you! Hoping to make more normal videos soon
Me: It’s definitely time for bed.
Also me: oooh, this video looks interesting!
Sorry that I'm facilitating your bedtime procrastination 🥲

What is the definition of a nap?
completely falling asleep?
Congratulations! As the parent of 2 under 2, I feel your pain. Just wait until your baby starts giggling and cooing. Nothing sweeter in the world!

\*first few seconds of video\*
Congratulations!
\*Tries to focus on actual video topic/content now\*
it's funny how a sleep researcher made the most detrimental choice when it comes to sleep 😅
But the best choice for the family ❤!
I love your circadian diagrams, and that thesis flex was INCREDIBLE 🙌
Aww thank you! I bought a display stand for it lolol
Ok but these are doable things? I am going to try these to not feel so tired all the time 🤯

Thank you 🙏

Aw thank you!
Good luck. Our second is 6 months now and we’ve been granted 2 kids that sleep very well! Hope yours will as well.
I always feel tired and the worst of it is that caffeine doesn't affect me so having coffee doesn't help
Aw I'm sorry to hear that - hoping you can find something that works for you!

Who's filming ? Iheard a voice^^
You remind me of dianna.
she is Dianna but Aussie her content has helped me with a lot of brain stuff
We love Dianna ❤️
This is POTENTIALLY a great approach to this topic. 😂
Absolutely loved the video memes😅
Aww thanks, glad you enjoyed it!!
Is it worth it to buy the Galaxy ring (without the watch)?

Weird ad
I really like you, but say the video is an ad from the start

Super don't like these "videos" that turns out to be a total ad...
C'mon she just had a baby, girl deserves to get paid for her work!

People have a right to earn a living
“I didn’t want to make this sleep deprivation video, but Samsung paid me loads of money, so I did.”
Babies bad
This baby good
Babies good, actually.
Congratulations. Good luck with getting a decent amount of sleep soon!
Thank you, I'm looking forward to it 😅

Noted on that - thank you for the feedback and I will be clearer next time!
