I was in the Navy & I skate. Preparing to reenlist now.
Stated skating in like 2002. Omar is a legend.
Calm yourselves, groms. It’s all good.
There are even some Navy SEALs out there who skate.
Omar the reason I ride big boards. He gave me his used massive black label board back in ‘04 at the vans orange park.
I have ridden for 35 + years vert and Street and I've always ridden a full size board with real man wheels all that gimmick crap that started with the industry's trying to keep it self relevant ,small board small wheels is a joke and the demise of real man skating....look at the speed that kids ride today it's half the speed of 25 years ago even though they do little technical tricks they can't ride like a real man like this...

Nah the small wheel pushed to its extreme 90's level (we talking 40mm out of the box) was definetly a gimmick, but boards below 8.5 are just what some technical skaters prefer over 8.5/9 + boards! It just makes sense, in terms of maniability, weight and stuff... Time to plug your brain

We have been working on the book for many years now.....it will cover what I know absolutely everything about from skateboarding 1974 to current times....I didn't mean the whole world was feeble and riding slow I understand where you're coming from but you got to think of the amount of people in the early nineties that fell for that gimmick crap... 40 mm wheels and bearing covers anything under 55mm was and is a gimmick.....skateboarding used to be aggressive and rad and it's lost its ass ,if I can walk faster than you ride it's not real skateboarding....you'll smarten up soon enough as soon as I reveal exactly what happened to the skateboarding industry and why it did what it did to keep it self relevant.... Ride faster than I walk and skate like a man....
Skateboarding has evolved into so many beautiful things and big rails and super technical stuff but there is something absolutely primal about a video part that is just people thrashing pool and parks. This is brilliant and poetic

I remember seeing Omar show up un-announced at a vert ramp in pascagoula MS, somewhere back in the early 90's. first time I ever saw someone do a mctwist live and he was also doing madonna's where his foot that comes off the board was over head high.
That ramp was awesome and scary at the same time, was metal covered. Same ramp where I busted out half a tooth tring doing a tail slide, ah memories, lol

Have never been a big fan of Omar, but coming to my 45, i realise that's over 30 years now, am watching footage of him. I can say he is part of family, today, and certainly has got influence on my way of skate & life ( I also feel stupid, beeing the only one in here, wondering who the hell Larry is )
