My father served for 3.5 years in the US Navy during WW2, and we sang this at his funeral. I couldn't keep from choking up as I stood next to my mother. She was so proud of him and I missed him terribly that day. I still get teary eyed when I hear this. It's majestic. Thank You so much, for my father and for my family.
Simply superb! This hymn has always touched me since my childhood when I heard it in the movie Titanic :)) A wonderful tune played by a wonderful player. God bless you as you bless us with your musical gift.
Hi Rob! Ive been listening for 1 year now! I think all of those pieces you played are so beautiful! And im very grateful to be able to listen to them! Blessed be!
I haven't been around for a wild as I had a heartbeat stroke can't talk very well but I still remember the song that was played on the Titanic in 1912 all the Sunday morning top 4 the Titanic went down thanks for putting on my phone again you're a very good player organ happy think you put down comes out nicely keep on playing audience sign Kevin wood old New Zealand
This is lovely when I’ve lernt piano il play it on me piano on the cherch organ feature on remberance day and the day titanic sank to pay respect to all the people who died
Hello Rob and thank you for another wonderful recording. Having only been to your side of the Atlantic twice, I'm curious to know if the tempo of the hymn you're playing here is as they sing it in the churches where you are Organist. States-side, we tend to sing it just a tad slower with much reverence and strong feeling. By the way: the Mixture in your Great division is WONDERFUL!!!
@@RobCharles1981 - I hope I didn't offend you, Rob. You have inspired me for many years with your many hymn recordings and I appreciate your musical skills and intent to keep alive the wonderful hymns.
@@RobCharles1981 I might have guessed. But I've seen these little clocks on many organs. (Except the one at the Church I attend). I used to use a wall clock when I was taking piano lessons as a boy, so I'd know when it was someone else's turn to use the piano.
Hey rob u should do the same vidio in April and dedicate it to everyone on titanic on the day it sang of pay and respect I think that would be fantastic and play the organ slow at first then get liouder and deeper tone. And faster tiny bit

You know you’re from a Navy family when this song either gets you pumped or makes you really freaking emotional.
That's very true.
My dad was in the Navy he was honor Guard for JFKs Funeral
It does both to me, and i'm not from a Navy family at all! God bless all our troops!
I love this hymn, especially when expertly played on an organ.
Thanks!
The grandeur of your playing is never for grandeur's sake, but always for a higher purpose: that is what makes you a truly fine artist, Mr. Charles.
Thanks!

Why do so many organ keyboards have a little clock near where the music sheets are placed?
So one can tell the time!
@@RobCharles1981 I might have guessed. But I've seen these little clocks on many organs. (Except the one at the Church I attend). I used to use a wall clock when I was taking piano lessons as a boy, so I'd know when it was someone else's turn to use the piano.
Ahh right.
When churches first regularly had organs very few people could afford a watch, hence public clocks, clocks in offices and clocks on organs.
@@Musician-Lee I must ask the organist at the church I attend. It looks too small to be used by the congregation.
I makes me emotional
Thanks!
Many thanks! :o)
What make / model is the organ? It has an awesome sound! Is it a pipe organ?
see oystermouthparish.com in the music section.
