Thanks for the review. I’ve had a pair of 300’s hooked up as surrounds with my arc and sub. Some Atmos tracks give me goosebumps. My favorite track is Better Days by Dermont Kennedy. You should give it a listen.
Same setup here - also amazing for movies that support Atmos. If I could, I'd add a second sub - but my wife would freak out having 2 large square boxes in the TV room - as it was she wasn't happy with the 2 300's mounted high on the back wall.
Great review, covering some important details like limited support in Atmos and non-Atmos music sound quality. This kind of info is never written in Sonos website.
Thanks of the review! As a music junkie I really wanted the atmos experience but scrolling through my apple music library and noticing tracks even today aren’t always atmos supported. I guess its too early to focus on that immersive experience. Wish they played stereo tracks out the front instead.
These speakers sound amazing. Some of the best audio quality I’ve heard and the spacial audio feature is pleasing to the ear. Dare I say almost audiophile quality. It gives you the illusion of sounds coming from areas where hardware is not present. My only knocks on the product are that it is a tad bit overpriced for what they are and also that Sonos routes their user experience through their proprietary mobile app which is a bit clunky and counterintuitive in some ways. Another concern when buying a product of this nature is how long the company will continue pushing firmware updates to it.
Oh man, it makes me so sad to see one lonely Era 300 sitting on the table there 😢 I'm not rich or anything but when I heard these as a stereo pair I had to go and buy two. The Sonos Era 300 as a stereo pair is 10 times better than having just one. I have no problem with ordinary stereo on these either. Atmos or 2 ch. stereo, both sound absolutely fantastic. Even if Atmos just turns out to be a passing fad (which I think sadly it will, unless Apple stops charging artists $200 _per track_ to upload Atmos versions) it'll still be a great investment.
@@johnleemarshall7825 Meanwhile i purchased Era 100... in my research i understood that Era 300 works to its full potential with Arc and not Beam .... so u can go with Era 100 and you wont be disappointed...
always love your videos man from PH ! i have already Sonos One Gen 2, planning to add ERA 300. great insights ! well my wife is working in SONOS. so she is the one who introduce me to that specially when the ERA came out in the market. and we are excited to have one !
Another good and thoughtful review👍 As an Android user I wouldn't buy any Sonos products unless they incorporated Chromecast, Google Assistant and local library playback of my TB of HiRes music files....or at 2 of this features.
Yes, but you have to use a USB dongle. Seriously though, if you want to use these for a TV and you aren't using a Sonos sound bar, not sure what you are trying to achieve.
The biggest thing that sucks about Sonos speakers is that you can’t have different speaker configurations for different scenarios Eg: Music vs Home Theatre… Thanks for sharing!
I have an extra large open great room floor plan. Decided to go with Fives instead of Era 300s for my rears with my dual Gen 3 subs and Arc Ultra (upgraded recently from v1 Arc). Worried about the Era 300 wouldn't sound as good because of limited walls/ceilings to bounce Atmos. Current set up sounds fantastic because +/- 80% of what I watch to isn't in Atmos format (zero spatial audio). I would upgrade to Era 500 if they ever come out (with front speaker active).
Although it sounds great it drives me crazy, it looses the wireless connection so often and it is so difficult to reconnect it back to WiFi. If I could return it back I would!
I understand that there aren't many speakers to compare the Sonos Era 300 with, so I'm contemplating a soundbar like the Samsung Q800C. It supports Dolby Atmos for both music and movies, and it's attractively priced just under 400€, with an additional 100€ cashback offer in Spain. In light of this, would you still recommend the Sonos Era 300 priced at 499€ over a soundbar?
I don’t think that would work because as soon as you tell it to play a song from Spotify it’s gonna go through Spotify’s service to grab the song and they still don’t have Atmos. - Josh
Hello, thanks for the information, I have a question, can't I put the era 300 speakers into the Sonos app together with the Sonos arc? why when I turn the volume up or down from the Tv remote Sonos era 300 does not change its volume only Sonos arc changes the volume, thank you!
I’m getting weird static from mine any help with this? It’s like when you play an old radio to loud and it can’t handle it. It’s not every song and it even happens from atmos songs through the somos app.
Listening to Atmos mixes is the exception rather than the rule, at least for the songs that I listen to... Tbh is sounds like Homepods would be a better purchase.
His reviews are legit... I fell in love with my Era 300 all over when I played me some acapella music. th-cam.com/users/shorts7UVpe5kgAvs My review on the Era 300: th-cam.com/video/dmT_V0c2Emo/w-d-xo.html But yeah.... just to Atmos his comments..... this is a very worth while purchase... I'm looking forward to getting a second to make it a pair but my living space is restricting it at the moment...
No Google Assistant is a simple no-go for me. It's a no brainer if you're on the goog ecosystem. Thanks for the heads up! Great work and great channel!
LOL, if you have to have extension cords draped around the room for these, and can't afford at least a pair - you are not in the demographic for these.
Atmos tracks are like Stereo when first introduced. It is gonna take a lots of years for atmos music to be standard. CES 2023 last year first introduced a car with atmos. For this reason I am out because of limited tracks. Yes I have sonos theater in same room as Fives which I listen to music on. Rear speaker setup in theater just makes it crappy for really listening for music, sitting on couch and conversation.
Unable to play Dolby Atmos from Apple Music is a deal breaker. I still think HomePods 2nd gen is a better option, especially if you’re in the Apple eco system
I've heard plenty of good thoughts on these speakers, but as an Android phone, Google Assistant, Spotify user, too many things are left off or don't work so I won't be buying these.
If you have a Google Home setup you can still control the speaker through Google - just no direct control. Personally for me as a huge Google/Nest user, it's not been a problem - and the sound quality is far and beyond better than any other smart speaker.
Do not agree that Atmos mix that lead vocal drowns with Lizzo, about damn time. In fact I really like the mix. Maybe on the ERA300, but not on a true Atmos system. I do find Sonos Atmos speakers systems (like ARC) not direct enough in comparison with a dedicated center speaker, which can cause drowning of the vocals
Sonos.... great engineers..... Greedy people.... Useless buy. 1000 euros for a stereo system that you cannot control the way you want, you can't use its full potential unless you follow the Sonos way..... and you can't connect to your tv....
Why can't you connect it to your TV? Of course your TV either has to have Bluetooth, or you have to have a Sonos soundbar, or you have to have a USB dongle for the speaker - but all these things allow you to connect to a TV - so your comment makes no sense.

I finally pulled the trigger, Sonos sent me a 20% discount and got a pair of Era 300s for $771 shipped 🔥
How did you get the 20% coupon? Did you sign up or just randomly? I’m trying to get a pair too:)
How did you get the discount??
Ditto
just got 30% off ?
Hi friend😂 how did you get it
Good vid! I love my era 300’s as surrounds! And btw, you look a lot like Mark Paul Gosselaar!!

Fantastic speaker imo. Worth the investment!
Great review! Very informative.
Great video sir
Is it better to have Era 300 as surrounds for beam gen 2 ? or should i settle with Era 100 for surrounds ?
I am wondering exactly the same. I have the Beam Gen 2 with Sub Mini

Ok, you’ve convinced me! Gonna get one next pay day
can you technically use the line in for tv output with the tv video in sync with the audio?
Yes, but you have to use a USB dongle. Seriously though, if you want to use these for a TV and you aren't using a Sonos sound bar, not sure what you are trying to achieve.
The biggest thing that sucks about Sonos speakers is that you can’t have different speaker configurations for different scenarios Eg: Music vs Home Theatre… Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, not true, you can configure the Era 300's as "Full" mode for music. Makes a huge difference in a home theatre setup.
If you want more audio clarity you should get the eras first instead of the sub ?
Do you actually use the products for 6 months before doing the review?
Compared to Beolit 20 and its amazing soundstage, which speaker is better?
I have Beolit 20 as well, it's a beast. I would compare it to Five or Move 2
I have an extra large open great room floor plan. Decided to go with Fives instead of Era 300s for my rears with my dual Gen 3 subs and Arc Ultra (upgraded recently from v1 Arc). Did you change the treble or bass settings on the equalizer... a little underwhelmed by the bass with Default settings?
I have two SL ones connected to my arc and sub. Is it worth upgrading to these? Thanks
Is it better than any atmos soundbar?

How about if you played the songs from their app but set the music library from spotify will it then be a Dolby Atmos version?
I don’t think that would work because as soon as you tell it to play a song from Spotify it’s gonna go through Spotify’s service to grab the song and they still don’t have Atmos. - Josh
I thought so too. So you would really need apple music then if you want to play Dolby.@@6MonthsLater
Thank you@@6MonthsLater
Any good?
You said you cant use a pair of sonos era 300 as a stereo pair with your tv ??? Why is that . Thats the exact reason i was considering buying them
You can, you will just need to dongle one of them. Really though, just add a Beam or even better an Arc - you'll get a much better result.
Does this speaker play on battery?
No, for that you should be looking at the Sonos Move Gen 2 or the Sonos Roam.
Hello, thanks for the information, I have a question, can't I put the era 300 speakers into the Sonos app together with the Sonos arc? why when I turn the volume up or down from the Tv remote Sonos era 300 does not change its volume only Sonos arc changes the volume, thank you!
I love my Era 100, but I miss full Stereo,,, sounds like Sonos really need to make an Era 200 that be a great stereo single speaker.
I’m getting weird static from mine any help with this? It’s like when you play an old radio to loud and it can’t handle it. It’s not every song and it even happens from atmos songs through the somos app.
Why can't you use two Era 300 speakers in front of the TV?
Hi. Thanks for this review. Does it sound in stereo or spacial sound on Spotify?
stereo, still no Atmos support for Spotify.
Very tempted not sure if pair of 300's or Pair of 5's.......
Pair of 300’s
Prob is most my content is Spotify and won’t make use of the spacial audio
pair of sonos 300 or 1 for now B&O Beosound Ballance . after watching this I'm pushing towards B&O
Listening to Atmos mixes is the exception rather than the rule, at least for the songs that I listen to... Tbh is sounds like Homepods would be a better purchase.
Well bro if you’re having that much fun listening to one 300 speaker, I have to try 2 😂
I use Era 300 as standalone speaker, the front speaker has no sound, is that even normal or I got a defective unit?
He says this repeatedly in the video. Stereo sound plays only out of the side tweeters.
Love sonos. Amazing product. ❤
Does the Era series connect to Samsung SmartThings flawlessly?
It works well here..
Arc in front of the tv and (2) Era 300 behind you or beside you. And then a Sub beside the tv. The best sound is fixed.
Even better with the new arc ultra .
