AMVR facial interface and Bobovr battery packs were a must for me. Battery life is not good enough for a long session without some kind of charger setup. Been really enjoying the Pico4 overall. With my 4090 rig I prefer it over the G2. It certainly has its drawbacks but the lenses alone make me love the thing. Being able to glance around with your eyes instead of your head is a game changer. the slight improvement in FOV is also nice. I simply feel much more immersed in the Pico and also get much more of a sense of speed.
Have a look at the Zyber Strap. It doesn't come with a battery and cost only £26. It's basically the bobo vr without the batteries. I would then recommend the amvr neck battery strap to prolong the battery life. The bobo vr adds additional weight to the back of your head. And I think distributing it to your neck makes more sense.

I just got an RTX4090 and are planning to buy my first VR headset. Seems like a no brainer to start with the Pico 4 since it doesn't need any base station from what I understand. But I think I need to upgrade my Wifi also.
Hi again Steve, hope you don't mind me posting more advise for people with a 3090 thinking they should avoid the Pico 4, but they really shouldn't, I'm running an i9-7900X, 32Gb RAM, MSFS on dedicated M.2 and one really important change I've made that worked for me is going from TAA to DLSS, gauges and cockpit details are still really clear but it's also really smoothed things out SVR set to 150% 3348x3348
Really enjoying my recently acquired Pico 4 and thanks for the tips in getting the best from it. I'm not so keen on the Bobovr M1 battery solution to extending the playtime for wireless VR with the Pico 4. I much prefer AMVRs 8000 mAh neck battery solution as I'd rather not have anything else stuck on my head and it's cheaper as well. The neck battery is a lot easier to use for other things on the go as well like phones or tablets if you need to as it's just a power bank after all. You really don't notice you are wearing it even if you're playing something strenuous like a fitness VR game.
I got the pico 4 but ended up returning it. The compression artifacts were too much for me, even in VD godlike 150mbps. The shimmering was insane. This really desirved a DisplayPort
Same for me, its even worse when trying to play a Sim Racing title, it really exposes the artifacts, its not so bad in slow games like MSFS or Halflife alyx
@@djradium2011 it is alot tweaking necessary, but yesterday I installed new beta streaming assistant and with that an open XR toolkit for the quality is way better than 2 months ago. When I plugged it in first time I was really disappointed too. But now it for me really impressive for the price and hardly see any artifacts in iracing.
Bought MSFS on Steam so settings are a tad complicated as steam VR is automatic which brings up a whole new bunch of settings; then there's MSFS reprojection and Virtual Desktop reprojection - which do we use?

Can you tell me how acceptable it is for you? Did you manage to set the rig in such a way where this is not a big thing anymore? You do NOT need a 4070 - I run my PICO 4 on a 3070 with everything on ultra, and its smooth as anything. I had a 2070 super before that and ran on high with no problems. What you NEED is a fast router - I have an ASUS gaming router, Wifi6, and its blisteringly fast, and makes the VR experience far better.
Fully agree with you, most of youtubers just make some ads for graphic cards.... I'm using a Pico 4 with Streaming assistant set at 200mbps...with a 1060 6Go OC.... ok i've only 15/20fps (LODs low, No hard Weather, no Ai control) So i guess that i don't need to buy RTX4090 in order to have this game playable....
I have the 4080 but my visuals on the ground are quite blurry. inside cockpit is great though. I am using link cable so was hoping if you could maybe do a tutorial on the best settings for this.
When you going to step up your flight simming with Vatsim, IFR flying with Departure, Enroute, Arrival and Approach plate tutorials. I've started learing IFR sim flying last week. It's alot of work.

What’s your setting???
Have any of these setting recommendations changed since improvements made to virtual desktop/pico 4? There is a beta version of virtual desktop too that is improved.
Hi, thanks for the vid, but i have issues with loading the sim on my pico. My PC specs: Ryzen 7900x 64gb (2x32gb) MSI 4090 ventus 3x Watercooler Everytime i go load the VR (using toggle vr) it'll go to steam vr, but just gets in a mess. Stutters, black squares when turning, MSFS loading sat on 'waiting'. On the rare occasion it does reach the sim, i get the same issue. Any advice? Thanks

I have a I7-10700 & 4080 with no issues using the PICO 4 and MSFS2020 VR using Virtual Desktop. I use a wired solution (i.e. usb c with ethernet adapter with power port for charging. The wireless is ok however I prefer the wired cable with charging.
I'm having trouble getting VR to work with the Pico. It starts up alright but it's in a cinema sort of environment so you're playing the Sim in the cinema. Clicking the VR option in the menu says it's not detected. Are you suppose to edit something like on a quest 2?
Looks like that joystick is working well for left-handed use. That has been a huge issue for me with my Thrustmaster Warthog and it really bugs me not being able to simulate the left-hand stick setup all these GA aircraft have :-) What model is that?
I tried pico in Akihabara. Not bad. I have my own blower attached to the pimax, I cut a hole in the USB part on the comfort pad and let the air blow through it. By the way, I always want to ask you, VR masters. When flying an A320, etc., how do you push and pull the SPD, HDG, and ALT knobs on the glare shield? I'm tired of the days of having a mouse just for this. Is it reckless to do it with OPENXRTOOLKIT and INDEX controller?
Excuse me, one more thing. Is there a way to display LittleNavmap on the VR screen with Openxrtoollit? SteamVR has a great tool called XSoverlay. However, steamVR doesn't allow me to fly modded Tokyo on my 1080ti. I was disappointed with the 3080ti, so maybe I should buy a 4090, but the dollar is too strong anyway.

@@AndyWhiteford when you are in Steam VR press the button left from the Pico menu button on the left controller. Then you get steam menu. There choose desktops. Start MSFS like normal. When you have set everything up before click fly press CTRL + TAB on the keyboard to switch to VR mode.
@@iracingchris thanks, yes I figured out the desktop bit and got that working. Issue now is after starting the flight, when I switch to VR, MSFS just hangs on the 2d view and I get no further. I've reinstalled SteamVR and will give it another try in the morning.

My bobovr battery died after a week. Plug it in and it beeps and flashes and then keeps flashing for a day and retains no charge. Very disappointing

Also look into wired solution for virtual desktop using USB c to Ethernet adapter if you want low latency for beat saber for example
You need to buy another Wi-Fi 6 router and have the pico 4 as the only connection to that in the same room for best performance with virtual desktop

Open XR Toolkit? Correct, I don't tend to use it with the Pico 4. However, some like to, so I've given you both options to have a play with.

Cool….That’s great to hear as I have the same CPU too. Is the 4080 card powerful enough that video compression isn’t noticeable?

I use a Gladiator NXT, they have right and left handed options.
