Spike is a legend and a powerhouse, and I noticed he would ‘sometimes’ talk over Bradley, not in a way that was disrespectful or rude but in a way of passion and wanting to know Bradley’s process out of excitement with this film (especially since he’s seen it so many times), like he was pulling it out of him for his curiosity getting to pick Bradley’s brain and what he knew. It's the 21st century, no one gets raises anymore, in fact if you make good art or an exceptional product, you get fired so that the line can go up just slightly. We've shed the veneer of Capitalism and entered a fledgling Techno-Feudalism.
Two minutes in and I'm already so engrossed in this conversation.
Spike, who is one of the greatest ever, praising Bradley Cooper at the end gave me chills.
Good for Cooper. He is a great actor and now Director. Congrats to him.
Spike Lee has a movie that's his dream project he's always wanted to do, which is a biographical film on the joe Louis max schmelling fight. I hope he makes it someday.
My goodness this conversation was just gem after gem. Watched to the very end. Impressed with Bradley, and just deepened my longtime love for Spike.
One Man sharing with another Man their love for their craft and what they do. These gentlemen's artistic works speak for themselves. Enjoyed the Conversation.
Two f***ing LEGENDS.
Great conversation. Whoever is responsible for putting these two together deserves a raise!
The joy shared in this is so special. Wow. I have watched so many of these but they were both students and teachers and friends and critics, and bestfriends. I love the reminiscing. I love the humility and confidence. This was a gift.
Mr. Cooper is tremendous in every way. NO EGO. So humble, kind and respectful. Absolutely love the way he takes spikes compliment in w/ that large pause sitting in the space taking in the moment. I know Lee was trying to be kind by filling in the silence but I wish he would have let him take in in and responded. And look at the way brads dressed!!!!!!!! so fkn humble. Pass for an everyday human. Under those loose black boring clothes he's probably ripped to shreds in shape too.
spike is also wearing the most random stranger back of the closet clothes I've ever seen
i thought there exchange was just fine.. i know Brad isnt offended.. you want Spike engaged on that level.. its like an Og pass you give certain people because you know you can learn so much more listening than actually dominating the convo..
This is the first one i truly enjoyed, no gigantic egos and fake flattering one another , loved it ! thank you ❤
OH WE EATING GOOD THIS SEASON!
I love Bradley shouting out Hurts and Kelce 💚💚 Also Spike is just one of my top favorite directors ❤
THIS IS LOVE. I AM HAPPY TO WITNESS THIS WONDERFUL CONVERSATION WITH BRADLEY AND SPIKE.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
spike: "the composer has to be..."? is everyone else getting that gitch at 9:26 mark?
We gotta teach Bradley how to dab up lolol
That was horrific
He was getting it. He's getting there. 😂😂
Think he’s just nervous, fair enough
I was wondering who else peeped it 😭
Bradley is very passionate about everything he puts his energy to
He has a beautiful sole .❤
I love that Spike is taking notes! This was such a great conversation
Great interview and Bradley Cooper seems to be a pretty awesome guy all around, great actor, and great director but it sure would've been great if the two directors talked about more than the 'Maestro' movie and maybe more about the gazillion incredible films Spike Lee has written, produced, and directed as well. Maybe there's more interview content coming. I hope so.
I love film WAY more then digital, it just has a special effect and it’s to me it’s more pure and of course digital has its benefits but I have totally learned over the years why so many of my hero directors have that love for film
A living Legend in conversation with an emerging Legend…. What more, what greater blessing, what grander a Christmas gift could someone ask for? Thank you‼️🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
I like the new set. It feels more comfortable
Happy black history month sweetheart Bradley....
They managed to make me push that subscribe button finally after all these great interviews
I need these two to make a movie soon.
Yep. Thought about that immediately
Thank you so much for continuing the directors series. Please get fincher with Tarantino!
So many stories I've heard before about other actors being influenced by Christian Bale I was surprised to learn he's one of them
This was incredible!! Spike Lee the master and Bradley Cooper the up and coming student. Brilliant
Brad & Lee make a wonderful pair. First time in a long time. Maybe ever. That we're getting a REAL conversation between two interested in each other parties for once. Every other variety interview seems to be a cheesy cringy mutual admiration society jacking each other off about how great they are bla bla bla. This was wildly refreshing. Love brads ability to truly be present.
This was fantastic! Now I have to go watch all of these directors on directors segments. Found myself shouting “Amen!” “Yes!” So great to see that Spike feels the same about this wonderful accomplishment (Maestro) in filmmaking. Also love hearing Spike be Spike: A New Yorker - down brotha! Thanks for this Variety.
Spike Lee is one of America's great directors, but he is also such an interesting raconteur.
Now I need Bradley in a Spike Lee Joint playing a detective after Denzel playing the villain
Anyone here like the movie 25th hour? It’s one of my favorites.
