- There are my first impressions of Yogyakarta. A city that the locals also call JOGJA, geographically located in Central Java, Indonesia. Even though I was staying a bit longer in Jogja, I had never visited the famous tourist attractions like Kraton (Keraton Sultan's Palace) or Taman Sari (Water Temple of the Sultan). You will also see me walking around the infamous Malioboro Street (Jalan Malioboro).

I ever lived in Yogya for 13 years. Unlike now, during period 80s to 90s many foreigners lived in Yogya for along time, not only as tourists but many lived in Yogya as students. This was a very exiting period for me that probably will not be repeat again
As someone who has some friends from Russia, Japan, Korea, Germany, France and Canada, I can share a fun fact with you: tourists often visit places like Jogja, East Java, Banyuwangi, Lombok, Sumba, etc., for just 1 or 2 days, but they end up staying in Bali for weeks or even longer. What does that mean? Many people here probably already know the answer.
Bali has more establishments that you wanna visit, more ppl speak English, you can connect with more foreigners and it's definitely more quiet than Java ☺️

There was once a large man made lake around the castle. Now becomes kampongs that surrounds the castle. A labyrinth like kampongs with small alleys that confused you. 😊

Sorry, but I found it both funny and uneasy to see Carlos looking for the entrance to Taman Sari. Because I lived in Jogja long enough. While watching I said "The entrance is there, you are now on the back road that used to get out of Taman Sari." 🤣😅

The Palace needs to be given a new coat of paint since they charge admission tickets !!! There's quite a bit of green fungus here and there on the walls ... So a new coat of paint will really make it more beautiful!!!

1:00:14 actually the single barrier put in the middle of the road is the sign. This usually use for special event like that day. It call "pengalihan arus lalu lintas". Just for particular moment only.
And without that special day event there will be no barrier = no sign? Furthermore the traffic coming FROM the one-way-street wanting to turn right also see this barrier on the street. Sorry, but to me that totally doesn't make sense

The name of the chicken is ayam alas ijem ( ayam hutan hijau ) , and it likes to crossbreed with local chickens. The chicks become Bekisar chickens. My uncle is a Bekisar chicken breeder in Muntilan village.
Oh so you use that color chicken to cross it with local chickens then? And what's the purpose of the coloured chickens? Only for 'decoration'?

Yeah I know that usually they try to overcharge you. Before I met the first batik seller in Jl Malioboro I even said that there are some scams going on in around here. But I decided to delete this sequence from the final vlog, cause 1. I haven't seen it by myself (only in some other youtube videos) and I don't wanna insult honest batik sellers ✌️
