  • We've been getting lots of emails asking for Desert X parts updates. We're getting close! The Gut Guards is coming along really well, so is the High Fender Kit. We want to make sure everything is just right before we release things into the wild.

    Just ordered the wrench. Thx. Waiting for the bash plate and maybe the fender kit as well.

    That kind of Axle wrench with chain tensioner check would be awesome for Tenere! :)

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  ปีที่แล้ว

      It'd be a bit more involved because of the external hex/Allen and the rear axle needs shallow socket because it's inset into the swing arm.

      @@CamelADV True. I just looked around and it appears that Rally Raid are making tool like that, minus chain adjustment. Crazy that there is no tool at all that comes from factory with bike to remove tires/wheels.

    Just purchased the axel wrench. Very nice and well constructed. The only thing I realized is that I don’t have a ratchet that fits the square opening to connect into. I’ll get that one of course since the wrench is a great tool to avoid heavy parts dragging around with you…

    Ducati spec for that rear axle nut is 180Nm! I assume far less torque needed to keep that wheel secure🤔. Your axle wrench is ingenious and impressive

    • @Rust_valley_adventures
      @Rust_valley_adventures ปีที่แล้ว

      I think 180lbs is too much as I've seen pics of crushed wheel spacers

      @@Rust_valley_adventuresit’s newt meters not ft lbs. 180nm is 133ftlbs.

    The wrench is awesome, plan on buying one but don't want to pay shipping just for the one item. Waiting till I can get more at one time. Hopefully the high fender will work with the factory bars.

    Awesome, how is your skidplate for protecting the aluminum frame piece that supports the sidestand? I understand a few Desert Xs have broken engine cases because this piece sticks out and is vulnerable to even slight impacts.

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The production version protects the side stand mount. The skid plate in the video is a few versions old.

  • @Rust_valley_adventures
    @Rust_valley_adventures ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple things I noticed, fender looks exactly like a Polisport sm line front fender, secondly the crash bars are bolted at the front cylinder head ? And last but not least that swing arm axel spanner is a nice touch but should be thicker and a half inch drive fitment for bigger torque pressure

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fender is a Polisport SM. The Hepco Becker crash bars do not bolt to the cylinder head. Most people don't carry a 1/2" drive ratchet in their trail tools so we used 3/8".

    • @Rust_valley_adventures
      @Rust_valley_adventures ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CamelADV how you supposed to torque 180lbs of torque with a 3/8 ratchet ? Half inch breaker bar with a couple of extensions is possible but a 3/8 is the incorrect size for that amount of force, not knocking the product but it's undersized for the job

    • @BillyD851
      @BillyD851 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rust_valley_adventures the spec is 180 N-M (130 ft-lbs). Still too much to apply trailside. Retorque once you get back to the shop.

    Is it the general consensus that you do not need to run the rear axle nut to spec torque? Just as tight as you can get it with the setup shown?
