wow that is a gorgeous color. I have a 2010 that I just picked up in November 2023 that had been sitting in a garage not ridden since 2015 or so by the original owner. I bought it with 7500 miles on it, and I had some problems with it. It quit on me 40 miles from home. Also, they have a problem that’s common to them. The problem is the spark plug caps. They develop a voltage leak because they get baked in that hot environment, and the symptoms of old, leaky, spark plug caps is, stalling occasionally, when pulling away from a stop sign, and hesitation when you’re doing throttle position changes. Honda was going to do a worldwide recall to replace all the spark plug cabs. But they decided to just put new caps on every bite that comes into every dealership at no cost when they come in for service such as oil changes or tires or anything. The problem that caused me to break down 40 miles from home and I had to abandon the bike and go home and get my truck and trailer. It turned out to be the fuel filter inside. The gas tank was plugged. It looked like sand. I called the original owner who bought the bike new in 2010 and asked him if he had ever put anything in the gas. He said no, just stabilizer. I have a few videos on my TH-cam channel showing what I had to deal with inside that gas tank and how I got it out. I was able to get my whole arm inside the gas tank from the port that the fuel pump goes into the bottom of the gas tank. That’s quite a large hole. I was able to pull out that whole assembly with the fuel pump and the float gauge and the two filters wrapped around the fuel pump intake. I have videos showing what I got out of that fuel filter. It was just like chalk or talc powder. but now that I have everything sorted on the machine, my happiness curve is all the way up to the top. I really like the color of yours, mine is the candy apple red as you can see in my videos. i’ve done a few upgrades, like, I installed aftermarket replicas of gold wing foot pegs on eBay. They were $17.50 free shipping. They are wider and longer than the stock foot pegs. They are about the same size as the Honda pacific coast foot pegs. I had two Honda pacific coasts, my first one got totaled from behind with me sitting on it at a stop sign on my commute to work. It was the most profitable paid nine month vacation of my life. The second one that I replaced the first one with I commuted on for 24 years. I never even had to replace a burned out bulb on that machine… The Pacific coast and these machines are kind of very similar except in the horsepower. The Pacific coast had 48 hp, two spark plugs per cylinder. The smaller engine NT 650 and NT 700 make 71 claimed horsepower. To tell you the truth, I can’t feel the difference but, my Pacific Coast did not start to protest after 75 miles an hour on The interstates the way, my NT $700. It just does not like anything above 75 miles an hour or it starts to get into a harmonic vibration the way the 650 G tees did. There was a guy that one of the magazines here in the US was covering the guys conversion to a road racer of the hawk GT 650. He kept blowing crankshaft, and they narrowed it down to what they called harmonics. It just was not designed to spin at that RPM that they have one race tracks.. I really love the color of your machine. I’ll be checking out your videos. In the UK and Europe, these bikes are still a favorite. There’s one guy on TH-cam that has over 200,000 K miles on his with no problems… I would have liked soph adjusting valves the way the Honda pacific coast had. I did check the valves on my machine, it’s really not that big of a deal getting all that plastic off and back on. Just have to sit there and look at it there you can see a lot just by lookin.. Great seat, aftermarket windshield that came on my machine seems to have a nice still air pocket, I like the adjustable windshield that I can have it set to look just over it. I would not mind if this machine head carburetors because one thing about carburetors. They always get you home. If you have a dead battery with a machine with carburetors, you can pop it into gear and get it to start. but if you have a dead battery in a machine with fuel injection, you could push it until the tires were out and it is not gonna start because the fuel pump, the computer, the fuel injection system needs 12 V of strong pressure to operate. That’s why I make up jumper cables for my fuel injected bikes, and I carry them with me at all times. I just cut the power cords off of someone’s discarded dishwasher or their electric dryer. They make perfect. jumper cables.. I actually made a video on making jumper cables out of power cords for motorcycles on my TH-cam channel. I’m looking forward to watching your videos

One of my biggest regrets is not buying a pristine Deauville a few years ago for a bargain. It had a perfectly good engine with more power than I would ever need but I passed it over for a more modern machine that in the end did not suit me. There is a lot to be said for a motorcycle that you can stuff all your gear into without needing extra bags. Even at the time the Deauville was well "out of date" but who cares. It was /is a great motorcycle. Lovely trip you had there.
The Daddy of the entire range of midweight Honda V twins was the VT500E, a six speed machine which was more like a 5 speed with overdrive, downsides were the silly air forks and even sillier inboard ventilated front disc brake, other than that a great machine to own and ride.

My favorite of the family is the NT650GT Hawk / Bros. It’s a pity to lose the shaft drive as such but together with the aluminum frame it makes the bike a little 170 kg squirter without losing too much of its every day practicality. Except the much too small 10 l tank, that is! 😉😁
Hi, good question. The 700 has fuel injection and a little more power, 2 less spark plugs, it is an evolution of the 650 and certainly looks more angular, sitting on the 700 I found myself a little more upright and more on the bike than in the bike if you see what I mean ?. 700 has a wider seat and more modern looking clocks, In reality apart from updates to the engine a bit more power and a more modern look on the 700 they offer more or less the same experience to ride, both are reasonable powered v twins with shaft drive, upright riding positions and built in luggage. Both handle well and are agile. There are owners who prefer one over the other, but in my humble opinion ‘there is a horse for every cowboy’ and more importantly many owners of both the 650 and 700 are very complimentary about their Deauvilles and rate them highly as all round bikes. On the Internet forums for Deauvilles you will see that both 650 and 700s have their followers and admirers. Oh and my 650 is very reliable given that it is maintained appropriately, I have no reason to think the 700 is any different in the reliability department. Hope this helps and maybe some other 650 or 700 owners will add their views and opinions.

Yes the Deauvilles are often passed by, lwe found a very good one, bought unseen from internet so we were lucky
