It still give me chills all these years on..............................................a time when life was beautiful and dreams were there for the taking.
I was a teenager in the 1950's in England and to me the music of that era is as fresh and melodic as it was then. I regret that I have only recently become aware of The Castells and consider their close-harmony to be superb. Why were they not popular in UK? I have downloaded "The Very Best of The Castells" and listening to the CD am transported back to the Golden Years of popular music. Joe Kelly - thank you.
If anyone is from Pgh, PA, and is class of 65, 6, 7, 8, there was a guy, Terry Lee. Radio. Music For Young Lovers. Played this song many times. Along with the best music like it. I knew Terry. RIP. Played my requests. Going out to my friend Bill in Houston. I'm from Pgh. Maybe it was OH My Angel or others. I loved that guy. Listening to him was exactly what was listened to by anyone who loved these sounds and there were 1000s. Unreal times and music. I have many, many 45s. Best music of our times. ❤❤❤
Chuck Girard does such a good job as lead singer. Music like this is so uplifting in these times. Thanks Chuck and to all the Castells for recording this and so manyh other fine songs.
I’m 80 years old and I just found my true love! This is the second time around for both of us and we’ll be married in three weeks. I only wish I had met him sooner so I could have loved him longer. Yes, this truly is Paradise!
yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless I miss her everyday. Mothers are the glue that holds everyone together.. seeing this makes me miss her even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia
The memories this brings back. We were so young, so innocent. Dancing with a girl who later became my wife of 37 years till she passed away 9 years ago. Can still feel her face on mine while we slow danced to this. Thank you.
So she gets in the car and there are 5 of us already in there and this song comes on right at that moment. I cant help but break into song as this is one of my all time favorites. She looks at me and I sing "So this is love". She blushes and her friend tells her "he is a singer. His songs are on the radio". She wasn't my date that night but we talked the whole night long. We have been married for 54 years and this was our wedding song. Great song? I think so.
Just sitting here reminiscing today is my father's birthday John Toliver moore quote from Jimmy Dean a big big man reminiscence listen to the Cascades thank you so much for your good music and making this Sunday happy tranquil impossible God bless you Cascades
Slow dancing with eyes close, smelling her perfume and in the innocence of the time hoping to steal a kiss at her front door............Best time of my life........
Dearest Joe Kelly, Well, how the hell are you? I can't believe that you have come into the technology world. good for you. It sure has been a long time since we spoke. This music of your and chuck's was the greatest vocals I had ever heard and I lived in Cal. when you and Chuck first began. Please keep this music on because I think more people need to be introduced to what real music and talent is!!!!!!!! Would love to hear from you. I have been a widow for eight years now, so this songs really mean a lot to me. Take care and write soon. Jo Ann
Such a Beautiful Song - They don’t make them like this anymore - The late 50’s and the entire 60’s gave us the Best Songs - and the 70’s too. Let Us Enjoy the Best Years Of Our Lives in these songs. Memorial are made of this - yes they are. Enjoy
All these songs from the 50's and early 60's allow me to close my eyes and almost feel the touch of my wife's hand on my cheek. As long as I can listen to these memories, she is never gone. Miss you kid on the 10th year of your passing.
Vince this is Joe(joseph) kelly of the Castells You found the blessing of So This Is Love and that love will continue forever. I am so sorry for your loss.
Vincent Louis Vince Other songs that we did that I felt that told true love were My Miracle, The vision of You ( Chuck Girard wrote when he was sixteen) a song called I Thought You Would Like That and Make Believe Wedding are just a couple of my favorites. They may help you
Summer, 1962. After 17 months in Japan (USAF) I'm back stateside in L.A. and wallowing in the joy of hearing good Top-40 radio again. One of the first songs I heard was the Castells "So This Is Love" and it sounded so good. Even better, about 3 months later, down in West Texas, I put on the earphones, opened the microphone, and became part of Top-40 radio, playing the hits every night. I give thanks every day that I was able to do that.
This is the gorgeous music I grew up to. I was in 10 grade, 2nd semester, spring of '62. --------------These 4 guys had beautiful harmony.-------The Vogues also did a great remake.,-------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
This has to be one of the prettiest love songs of all time. Man I would fall in love with any gal passing by. Just perfect. A small window in the day of real harmony and great lyrics. Their follow up Sacred was just as GREAT. Very rare and special. Thanks boys.
I work for Amazon CS and a customer called me I solve the problem and while speaking with him I realized he has this album in his orders so then he said that's my music you are speaking with Joseph (Joe) from The Castells so now I'm here enjoying his music.
I had not listened this song before, it was one of those I missed, when I was in my Junior Year in High School. It is a very good song which describes how we feel when we fall in love for the first time. I only used to listen Sacred by this same group, and liked it. Now I have listened it, I shall do so frequently.
You're absolutely right . The period of music from late 1950s to around 1963 was the most beautiful and melodic ever ! Research and you'll find more songs were recorded in those few years (all types) than any time before or since . We'll never see an era like that again .
I agree with you George. I hate to say it but, the Beatles kind of changed music - and not necessarily in a good way (although I do like some of their music).
I wish I was living in that era I'm 13 and I hate to say it but I'm getting tired of Lil Wayne and and Justin Bieber being of this like gay swag music sucks now and I would do anything to live in that time
I've always felt the music was best during the time you say. I never realised so many others fell the same. By the way, what a great song. It just gets to me.
the fact that this song is so loved and remembered more than 50 years later says a lot! Do you think anyone 50 years from now will remember singers like Li'l Wayne and Iggy Azalea?
Looking at the cover, this is how guys used to look and dress. A trip back in time. Just one beautiful song regardless of your style. I was fortunate to have grown up during the era.
I could hear this song over and over again...............................Great harmonizing - The lead is outstanding, background singing tremendous and the instrumental is as perfect as can be. Hats off to this group and to you Ken for bringing it forward.
This song was still heard on the radio when I returned to the U.S.A. after a 17 month tour with the USAF in Japan. What a wonderful summer that was in 1962. Before it was over, I had landed my first radio DJ gig at a station in Texas and for a 20 YO music lover, that was as good as I could get. Hearing this song brings back the joy of those days
This is such a pretty song to sing to the one you love with all your heart. I loved Johnny 56 years ago in 1963 he too loved me. It is the way love should be for those in deep love.
God’s love for us is the deepest and greatest because it doesn’t depend on who you are, what you look like, or how much money you have. He loves us so much that he had his only Son die for us. John 3:16 For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Trees Lounge brought me here …Brings me back to my youth music was everywhere around me in the late 50s and 60s …My uncle was in the jukebox business, and the garage in the back was a museum of 45s …Had 3 older female cousins and my uncle would set up a jukebox on the patio“😮So this is Love “ ..So thanks for the video of such a classic and beautiful song 🎵 I’m back in NY 1960 😊
FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER SHALL BELIEVETH UNTO HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE JOHN 3:16
Ahhh.... another one of my favorites from that era. Even though I was a 4yr old little boy in '62, my Mom had a lot of music from that time, she has since passed away from this life and into the Bosom of ABRAHAM she now rest. I WISHED I had told her just how much I APPRECIATED her for playing this type of music because I came to enjoy listening to it because it's TIMELESS......IT NEVER GETS OLD.
Montclair HS So Cal 1962. Graduated in 65. Drove around and listened to this song with my gal. Viet Nam war had started and I went in 66. Got to hear this song a lot on the armed forces radio I Also loved "To Sir With Love" and also Smokey Robinson "Second That Emotion".
I can stay indoors forever quarantine what's that long as I got my oldies the castells God bless you guys man you guys keep me going baby boomers listen to some oldies it feels good I'm right home thank you castiel's for all this lovely music you giving us God bless you
Ain't it something what a song can do? I'm a US Marine and grew up fighting in the streets but this song reduces me to tears thinking of my Dad and Mom and our home in the early 60's Los Angeles. They're both gone now but I knew how they loved this song. Takes me right back to our front porch back then.
Every once in a while a song will come to my mind out of nowhere, and this one did today. Haven't heard it for so long! What a treasure, and brings back the best memories of my life.
In the Fall of 1971, it was so plain to see we were really in love........real love......for her and for me.......Not long before, the sea, the stars and the moon was all I saw, but did dream of what I found........."so this is love"...........
I was a DJ on a radio station in Phila. Pa. WRDV FM for several years. At one time I had over 25,000 45 RPM records, and quite often people would say, Ron what is your favorite oldie ? I would answer usually the same, I can't narrow it down to one, but I can tell you this: So This Is love is definitely one of my TOP 10, so smooth and so beautiful, wow thanks for sharing this old time favorite-God Bless-Ron Cerelli
This group from Santa Rosa,California entered the recording business in 1961 and had their first hit with "Sacred" which became a national Hit. It was followed by "So this Love" in April 1962 and it also became a hit record and one of my favorites from an era where slow dancing was a special thing. The Castells had a few more recordings but they never became headliners even though the group had all of the ingredients to be more successful. Competition was tought! Ron--Highway Stars Magazine
Beautiful song and memory from my childhood. I hear this and I picture my dad in front of my childhood home washing his 1960 Chavey impala as me and my brothers would help him. What a wonderful time we had growing up in 1960's Los Angeles.
I vaguely remember this song and I just heard again while listening to the 1962 top 40 Survey on Sirius XM. It's such a beautiful song that I wanted to hear it again. This song ranks up there with my favorite love song "That Sunday,That Summer" by Nat King Cole
David: This is Joe Kelly of the Castells .It took over 50 yrs for our music to be appreciated Thank you for taking the time to listen. David I'm not sure where you are from but I am trying to locate a person who was the soundman at he Desert Inn Hotel In Las Vegas Nevada before Steve Wynn bought it and made it the WYNN. Just taking a shot you might be that David Nash. Thank you again for taking the time to listen to the Castells
Josephk Kelly Joe, I certainly remember back in '62 great song. I wistfully long for those days of innocence and wonder. Thanks for being a part of my youth.
I never heard this song before, I was looking for Sacred and I decided to listen to a few others by the castells, Love love love this song. Close my eyes and go back in time to a easier and happier time of my life. Beautiful Song,
I never heard this tune until a few months ago, I now play it over and over and over. Very much like the Cascades, Rhythm of the Rain, Shy Girl and The Last leaf 50's and 60's nothing like them
You know we were really blessed to have all these gifted entertainers to sing for us and give us all this good music man you know I feel so good when I listen to this music man it brings back so much good memories and I love you so much you know thank you so much Cascades forgiveness all this good music man thank you so much God bless you
yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20.
OH I LOVE THIS GROUPS TWO SONGS, this one and "Sacred." Its heartbreaking and magnificent at the same time..what memories. I lived each day of the 60s and these songs were always on the radio. Like April Black below, its true, anyone under 40 TODAY could/should sing this tune just because....bring something back to life from the days of REAL MUSIC...but its not going to happen... I wish a man loved me like this song.................just once. Oh Paul...
Ladies & Gents, we'll not hear the likes of this, ever again.----------We just have to be grateful we can remember what our world was like back then. ------------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
This song was the second, and last hit of the pop group The Castells, charting in early 1962 on the Era Records label. Chuck Girard got started with this group in 1961 at age 18. He went on to become the lead singer of the studio band The Hondells in 1964-66, on Mercury Records, and then he became a hippie musician in Laguna Beach in the late 1960s. In 1969, he and some of his friends became born again Christians, and became briefly a house band called Love Song at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, California, in Orange County. Love Song became one of the most popular Christian Country Rock bands of the 1970s. In 1974, Chuck Girard began his solo recording career as a Christian singer and artist, with his big hit in the Jesus Movement, "Sometimes Alleluia" that year. He is still going strong today as a Christian artist with many albums to his credit.
Great!! I first heard this song 10-12 years ago but only caught the last half and the title. Never could find it again for some reason til now, I think it was before youtube. Love this song and doowop. Thanks Ken
@tunesmith09: Right on, brother!.....the natural and seemingly pure look of the late '50's to mid '60's ladies was amazing....I knew a number of them, and of course wish I'd known more.....had cutouts of some on my bulkhead during my sailor years.....even as we speak, we imagine those ladies have never changed......the best kind of memories, and songs like this make all timeless.
Chuck Girard ...eventually became a christian and formed the group Love Song..the fore runners of Christian contemporary music...humble beginnings for a man that went astray by the hippie-drug movement ...and then eventually found the Lord...
I was a sophomore in high school when this one came out--& well, there was this girl --my 1st real crush--named Gayle --& this was to her, every time I heard it. Those WERE better times--I miss them. Wolfsky9
We all were so young and we all had “our song”. Now most of us are gone but we who are left are left with their memories and our own.
My husband and I are going on 77…this was our song in 1962…still is our song in 2022. We are truly blessed!!
Yes miss Sharon, you are both truly blessed, and continue to be for a long time.
This song is meant to be shared between 2 people who really love each other......God bless you........
born 9/6/1945 … oh YEHHH
LIKE YOUR EVERLASTING RELATIONSHIP,TIMELESS MUSIC ALWAYS STANDS THE TEST OF TIME.
It was mine and husband song he pass away
It's a bit like discovering gold when you run across a song you missed fifty years ago. This is one of those! Fantastic!
Agreed. Castells' other hit "Sacred" is equally something to behold.
It still give me chills all these years on..............................................a time when life was beautiful and dreams were there for the taking.
well said and poetically too
Beautifully said....
Folks, it just doesn't get any better than this outstanding love song. Truly the epitome of harmony. Provides timeless enjoyment.
I'm from the U.K. First heard Castells 38 years ago. Sacred - They have been my fave. group since then.

I'm 69, from nyc, and love this song, grew up in bed-sty and had a great time.
Such a beautiful song sung by a great group. But nothing today passes for music like this.
This has to be one of the best songs from the early 60's, and a fine band they were indeed.
This was the song my daughter pick for the father/daughter dance at her wedding! What a great song with wonderful memories.
If you could explain love to someone, help them to feel the truest sensation of it - this tune defines the deepest pleasure of life’s greatest gift.
Every once in a while a song will come to my mind out of nowhere, and this one did today. Haven't heard it for so long! What a treasure, and brings back the best memories of my life.
I remember how this song affected me the first time I heard it......such beautiful music.
Yeah its a chicks song
Hamilton Furburger Yep! Us chicks bought plenty of 45 rpm vinyl records : I believe they cost 49 cents in the early 60s. Lol.
very under appreciated group who made fantastic songs.
In the Fall of 1971, it was so plain to see we were really in love........real love......for her and for me.......Not long before, the sea, the stars and the moon was all I saw, but did dream of what I found........."so this is love"...........
"So This Is Love" first showed up on the Billboard Hot 100 April 14, 1962. It peaked at #21. Such a beautiful song!

I would answer usually the same, I can't narrow it down to one, but I can tell you this: So This Is love is definitely one of my TOP 10, so smooth and so beautiful, wow thanks for sharing this old time favorite-God Bless-Ron Cerelli
One of my favorite songs. Beautiful words, beautiful voices. Thanks for posting it. I could listen to this song over and over again.
GREAT SONG .... WHAT A FANTASTIC LOVE SONG.. FOR SURE

Josephk Kelly I am sorry but I am not that David Nash but I do love your songs and hope you are doing well.
Josephk Kelly Joe, I certainly remember back in '62 great song. I wistfully long for those days of innocence and wonder. Thanks for being a part of my youth.
jeffsor47 It was a great time to be a teenager and the music was so great.
Best music and time of life, i'd do anything to go back to that "sweetest time in life".
I never heard this song before, I was looking for Sacred and I decided to listen to a few others by the castells, Love love love this song. Close my eyes and go back in time to a easier and happier time of my life. Beautiful Song,
I never heard this tune until a few months ago, I now play it over and over and over. Very much like the Cascades, Rhythm of the Rain, Shy Girl and The Last leaf 50's and 60's nothing like them
The best of times to grow in the 50-early 60s! This group exemplifies the fabulous music we danced to and dreams were built on!
You know we were really blessed to have all these gifted entertainers to sing for us and give us all this good music man you know I feel so good when I listen to this music man it brings back so much good memories and I love you so much you know thank you so much Cascades forgiveness all this good music man thank you so much God bless you
Bonnie, these guys sound like angels, such beautiful harmonies, glad finally heard it.
I just don't think that music can get any better than this. Great !!
Absolutely beautiful. Brings back many memories from '62 & 3.
Beautiful song and era. Listening to Wolfman Jack on Saturday nights. Still play this song at least once a week.
One of my favorites and one of the best slow songs ever!
This song really makes me fall in love. Remember being parked in car and listening to all these beautiful love songs
yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20.
Best sound from the late fifties and early sixties, Great era ! Thanks.
Oh Paul...
+keri caye Funny but I use the exact same term to decribe rap here in Baltimore maryland, LOL!! Best regards
+Manos Petridis That's funny...Merry Christmas....
Heard this playing in Stop & Shop and I stopped dead in my tracks and started sing it out loud!
such wonderful music and memories of innocence........
Great song,,they had many,,thanks Ken Zedro

That wonderful warm feeling of young love for the ages past , present and in the future.
Upon thinking about it, these guys had talent a lot like the 4 Lads, so much in harmony with each other.
Sound much like the Lettermen--luv them both.
Yes, and also the 4 Freshmen and other quartets.
Great!! I first heard this song 10-12 years ago but only caught the last half and the title. Never could find it again for some reason til now, I think it was before youtube. Love this song and doowop. Thanks Ken
kids of today miss so much.
such a beautiful song from back when music was music thanks for posting
@tunesmith09: Right on, brother!.....the natural and seemingly pure look of the late '50's to mid '60's ladies was amazing....I knew a number of them, and of course wish I'd known more.....had cutouts of some on my bulkhead during my sailor years.....even as we speak, we imagine those ladies have never changed......the best kind of memories, and songs like this make all timeless.
Life In America Was Young. We will live it again in heaven.
George Grant ~ Lead singer passed away .....Always loved this song ...thank you for sharing
+Elisa Martin This is not that group. George sang with Castelles a Philadelphia that recorded in the early to mid 50's
Lake Washington High School Kirkland WA '63-'65, one of the best slow dance songs ever!
Beautiful. Awesome.
I'm still here in April 2022, and so is this song "...oh yea...."
Absolutely beautiful song. They don't play music like this anymore. Thank you Ken Zedro.
Wolfsky9
Had almost forgotten this sweet, smooth love song by the Castells. Thanks for sharing.
