Also who hasn't said something like 'it feels like a Sunday today' then checked their watch and realised it's Saturday? Also tachymeter isn't used just for timing racing. Back in the day they were also used for timing production. Also it's useful to have depth rating on dive watches. What happens if you lose the manual that came with the watch or the papers are lost when the watch changes owners?
