If you are in the USA, you probably know the music you hear is pretty much corporate driven. I think Aurora sings on topics that the moneymakers here don't want you to think too much about as there is no money to be made there. I also don't think the record companies she uses promote her as much as artists they can dictate content to. I think she has pretty much built her following on her own. I might also note as you were reading the number of views on some of her songs, they all looked to be from her most recent release from only recently. Runaway, an early song that really started her popularity currently has over 600 million views.

It's true. I think Aurora goes out of her way to not be a mainstream or "pop artist". Pop music is made to make people feel good without thinking too hard (and there is nothing wrong with that, sometimes), but pop music is also a "for profit" industry, and it goes against everything that Aurora stands for. Bjork was played on the radio in the 90's, but never hit real mainstream success after The Sugarcubes, yet she's still considered one of the greatest experimental musicians of our time.

She just won't become commercial. Lately she's even taken to dissing Coca-Cola and McDonalds. Plus she's a LBGTQ and climate change advocate. Her popularity is essentially talent driven. And she has so much talent it's hard to ignore once you find out about her.

I heard someone say that the problem is that she has not gone "mainstream." Why? I have no idea, but I think that possibly Aurora does not want to go mainstream. She once talked about her fans and how satisfied she is with those she has. Suggesting any changes people think she should make is out of the question. She will do what pleases her and pleases the fans she has. I don't think she wants to be a Taylor Swift, Adele, Rihanna, etc., but just wants to be Aurora, and to me, that is the way I prefer her to be. It is evident that she is maturing physically, mentally, her voice, in her songwriting, and her performances. She is an extremely intelligent human being, well read in many genres, and can converse about philosophers and great minds. I am 76 years old, and of all the singers and songwritersI have experienced, in my humble opinion Aurora is the greatest.

I.m 77 and came of age during the Golden Age of Music, and feel exactly the same. AURORA is a triple threat musical genius. Voice, performance, and compostion are all genius level. Who else comes even close to what she does?

She is VERY underrated! Her networth is less than 500k! I’m sure she turns down a lot of money bc she’s here for a much bigger and deeper reason. I’m glad to exist in the same timeline as her. And yes, flint Michigan has been dealing with their water crisis SINCE 2014! And they are still dealing with that problem.

500K? Dollars? She is a legend if she is only worth that much as that would mean she gives much of her wealth away and is not interested in getting mega rich. She is always touring so must be generating a lot of revenue.

Love this live performance so much, have you watched the live Vevo Some Type of Skin, it is the same day as this and it is also a fantastic performance. Yes, she is so underrated, so much better than all the popular American mainstream singers. Thanks.

One of my favorites from her new album, but this version is easily as good. They have some fun tools, and I can see Fredrik on the mandolin has some pedals. She's underrated, but so is a lot of quality music. She's quite satisfied with the amount of fans she has though, and doesn't really want to become gigantic. A bit sad more people don't know about her, but quite sure she's not commercial enough for the big companies, and she also refuses making the same album over and over again. COnstantly evolving. She did threaten to quit once upon a time when she was forced to back a song she wasn't that into.

Mandola, like a Mandolin, both forms of a Lute, a Medieval instrument.

One of her very best and that is saying something. As to your interpretation of the song, she would say you are correct. Then again she always says that about every one's interpretation. Genius. She constantly re interprets her songs, one of the reasons she is so good.
This is off her new album, very different from her previous ones but that is normal for her. As to her fringe, I prefer straight.

There are two versions. One remix done by Brian Eno that is naturally more ambient and indigenous sounding with loads of nature sounds. The original has a folky drum beat and the "scream" is less piercing. Otherwise pretty similar

  • @GhostlyEcheveria

Aurora is doing live looping, and controlling the voice effects in this performance, and she also gives us that beautiful little piano solo, and obviously, that primal scream. I love it. I don't think Aurora wants to be more famous than she is. I think she's very comfortable where she is. I agree, I think her career will follow a similar path to Bjork's career. Bjork still plays smaller intimate shows despite her level of fame. And I also agree with you about the government. I live in Michigan, and while things have gotten better in Flint, they aren't completely fixed. We are too busy funding extremists in Israel, and Ukraine to take care of our own people.

I don't think Aurora has spoken about the meaning of this song. However, she has made it clear what the album, "What Happened to the Heart" is about. It is about the loss of spiritual connection in the world. It was inspired by a letter written by Indigenous Activists, titled "We are the Earth", about the climate crisis, saying they are connected to the land, through the heart. It is quite likely, that when Aurora says, "if you know who I am, why won't you call my name", she is speaking from the perspective of Mother Earth. Verse 2, she sings "I know you feel me, Your heart unfulfilled, Like a world with no mother". So I think she is basically saying, you're so disconnected, that you've forgotten who I am.

    • @papa2bdj
      @papa2bdj 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

She has talked about how she does not understand why we humans put God, which she does not particularlly believe in) way up high, out of our reach, who we cannot see, cannot hear, or cannot touch. There have been, and are still, cultures which beleive God, or gods, are in everything, but most importantly, not up high, unreachable and untouchble. What I am about to say, I am sure some people will say that I am living in q fantasy world, or that I am crazy, maybe both, but a few times in the past I commented that none of us knows what God looks like, or even if male or female. Then there is Mother Nature who we don't know what she looks like, as is true of God. Perhaps God and Mother Nature are one an the same. In Infections of a Different Kind, Aurora questions the existence of God, and what he or she might do on how we are seen. "If there is a God, would he turn his head and walk away?" And then, "...may God be in the form of a girl and walk this world..." People who first hear her sing often ask the same questions. "Who is this girl? Where did she come from? How is this possible?" and other similar questions. Aurora has said that she knows why she has been put here, or why she was born. So, let me go off the deep end here. Wouldn't it be great if she turned out to be Mother Nature in the flesh, although Mother Nature has yet to reveal herself to Aurora? Yup! Crazy as a loon," Well...Aurora has often said that she is only human, not magical or mystical.
One of the things I like about her, as is often seen in concerts, is how she ineracts with the fans, or how when she forgets lyrics or makes other mistakes, makes fun of herself and continues on, and the fans love her for it.That is in abundance at the two London perfomances.

Yea she is underrated as she is very amazing Artist. But numbers dont show quality of music or talent. She does not do mainstream, she do a lot not typical and often slower music (or music that need a attention or subjective feeling emotions and music) and that is why in my opinion,.
And this stunning live performance is a variant of album version of the song but more strip down and not the same too. Album version is like folk, medieval tavern music (at last vibe) :). She has also remix of this song (which was first) and again it is different and with more ambient music. All 3 versions are worth to check it.
    Thx for a reaction!

In my opinion, this version of the song is better than the album version, it is very foreboding and dark rather than the album version which is very energetic, but still a fire track tho. Also if you want her screaming and yelling you should reqct to "Some Type of Skin" vevo version🔥

    Really great reaction👍
I absolutely love this song and performance😍
I prefer the remix featuring NATURE before the studio version, so I highly recommend reacting to this version instead of the studio. I’m very interested to know what you think of it😊
“I feel like our souls are lost, and I feel like our souls don’t know what to do. We haven’t given them any value, and we haven’t given them any [hold/home]. And I feel like we really need to prove to our soul that we’re its ruler - and we’d hear it and we will guide it by being just decent, [empathetic], good human beings. And I think about what’s happening in Palestine a lot when I sing this song because I don’t understand how in the modern time - in modern times like this - that we can disagree on whether something so heart-breaking is wrong or not. I don’t understand.” AURORA
