Been there. During these periods I go ruthlessly through my decks and divest of ones I know I am not using and will not use. I have had people tell me not to do that when I am in a down swing because I will regret it... nope. Being brutally honest about my Practice and acknowledging when I am being driven by Tarot influencers and acquisition attitudes, looking at what I have accumulated and admiting that much of it is dragging me down and keeping me stuck, that is when I have finally started to feel free of expectations and able to shift into a Practice that is cleaner and more reflective. I hope you find your peace. It was really wonderful of you to share so openly and honestly about where you are so that others don't feel so alone.

Take your break and enjoy it! Personally, I've only touched cards a handful of times this year, and it's been exactly what I've needed. Spaciousness between readings has been an enriching and beautiful experience for me this year, and has actually deepened my practice by allowing me to incorporate other aspects and try some new things.
Take care of you, and have a great rest of your summer. 💜

For me it’s not so much touching cards as it is naming every little thing I do with them and building something around that. But yeah, I also just gonna take a break. lol. Thank you!

I have been watching Tarotube for the last seven years and my deck and book collection has become so big it makes me anxious. I do have a lot of things to do: other parts of my life to be taken care of, tasks that are long postponed, it’s so overwhelming to think about them every day. It’s like the devil card: my passion has become very overwhelming. I am not even talking about financial side of this. Why are we doing this? All we need is one or maybe two decks. I also can’t believe the perfume collectors on TH-cam but I am not different from them.. the longer you use a perfume, the more it becomes yours. Some people use only one scent for all their lives and it’s like a part of them. I think tarot is similar. All we need is peace of mind and our passion. Not material things..
thank you for sharing your experience.

    Hi Marlene Theresa,
I think you hit a lot of issues people deal with regularly on all kinds of subjects. Maybe always feeling like we have to be productive to be valid is behind our burn out? I know it happens to me most whenever I study anything with intensity. The list making is another thing also... I think we forget inspiration. Not sure if this will help...but when I feel this overwhelm I try to balance it with a new hobby or something. For instance, spend one hour on tarot but three on gardening. Read a fiction book and a non fiction and trade off when it feels stale or uninspired. I find balancing how much focus helps...but I always take a three day "shut down" first. Just existing, sleeping, nice dinner, some light movie for three days makes me "reset" . Hope this helps? Love your videos, but please don't feel pressured by that!!! Just know you have more than earned your time to rest and hope to see you back and refreshed in the future!!! ❤

I'm certainly not as multitasking as you but I can offer this observation of myself. When I tried to do so many structured practices I would get caught up in the steps and tasks and I started losing the meditative contemplative part of pause and assess. I was getting the journal entries done but not the benefit of why I started it all. I have only 1 journal and I now take my time with stickers and colors and thinking it through. I print little meaningful pictures of my day to day and use that to apply the tarot message. And now my practice is whole again. Take a breather and come back simplified and with ease. Take care Marlene!!!

I have gone in and out of tarot overwhelm over the years. it's been a couple of stressful years, and i need a certain amount of brain activity to engage with tarot effectively. but I've never been able to fully step away, even if that's what i needed. A big part of it for me is FOMO, about the decks I’ll miss if I step away for a bit, yes, but more about the information id miss. Im such an information hoarder! lol I LOVE to use oracle decks while I'm in tarot burnout. i find them in general easier to use and more soothing. I hope you find this break to be refreshing and just what you need!

Sounds like your tired of all the paperwork ! I totally feel you on the burnout. I just came out of burnout energy myself. I post readings on YT and I just stopped for almost 4 months. I just could not bring myself to even make an "I'm taking a break video". I also went through a sort of existential crisis too. Not to mention all my duties and responsibilities in life...I was just tired. I eventually started to get the itch again - to read tarot, work magic and to make videos. I think it's just part of the road traveled. Sometimes we just need time to marinate or time to grow. Sometimes we just need some quiet. Look forward to seeing your "I'm back" video. Take care 💜💜

I actually did a three card reading the other day and the first time in 9/10 months since I picked up a deck. Between work schedule, starting some crafts, doing spellwork, reaaranging my space and getting ideas on how to decorate/having a look for our bedroom and livingroom. So the cards have been on the side for awhile, till recently.

  • @nicolecasavant2564
    @nicolecasavant2564 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

The other thing I changed up is that I was feeling like collecting decks and choosing a specific deck was becoming very calculated. So what I did was I told my son once every couple of days I want you to go into my shelves and all the places I stash decks pick a random deck and I'm not even specifying Tarot versus Oracle he brings it to me and I deal with the deck that he brings and sometimes it's a nice surprise but at least it's not as structured and intentional and that makes it fun

I hear ya, Hank. My own burnout this year wasn't so much with tarot but TarotTube, I'm so sad to say. My practice itself is pretty relaxed, but the channel, and watching others, was definitely making me feel more pressure to do all of the things, and it was like I couldn't sit to do a reading without thinking I should grab my camera and record it for a video. And no one was putting that pressure on me but myself, which I had the power to change as soon as NOW. So, shifted time to other things and went more with the flow just as you said. I'm so proud of you, Brother Knight, for recognizing what you need and creating the space for that. I hope it's a super healing and enriching time for you, buddy! 😚💕

Sometimes, it's necessary to take a break. I'd also like to add that sometimes, taking a break doesn't mean stopping completely, but changing how you're doing things. What came to mind is when you were talking about doing your note-taking/journaling. You could try just not writing it all down. You can continue with your practices, just don't worry about writing it all down for a while. You could trying taking a quick picture of a reading without writing, to be able to remind yourself but with less energy usage. Sometimes it means simplifying things for a while. Do whatever you need to do for you. 🥰
I used to record all my readings and study notes. But I deal with chronic health issues that seriously limit my energy. I realized, after years of constant note taking, that I basically NEVER looked back at what I wrote. Never. So for me, it was literally completely wasted energy that was already so limited for me. I realized I wanted to spend my limited energy on other things. So I quit writing down my readings. I rarely took notes on stuff I was studying. I haven't missed it and I haven't gone back to doing it. Now I've got that energy I'd been using to use for other things that actually benefit me more than all that note taking. But, it was HARD to stop, especially with what I now know to be an ADHD brain. 😊 But I truly don't miss it. I've got books I can refer back to if I want to find a fact or some info. If a reading feels especially meaningful, I snap a quick Pic with my phone. Though I haven't really ended up looking back at the pics either. But at least that took a few seconds and way less energy than writing out all the details of the readings.
With videos, you could take a break. Or, maybe do your videos differently. I simplified my setup and how I do my videos and it's made things SO much easier and less overwhelming. You could try doing shorter videos or even TH-cam Shorts for a bit if you really feel you want to create but aren't up to making long form content.
I've found that trying to have a regimented, structured practice just doesn't work for me personally. Trying to stick to the structure just overwhelmed me and tool way too much of my already limited energy.
One practice I find particularly supportive almost no matter when is to pull an Oracle card for a topic/message and then pull 1-3 Tarot cards for what else I need to know about that topic/message of the Oracle card. Simple but cam be deeply profound depending on what decks I'm using. I've found doing this to help during overwhelm/burn out as well as with anxiety/depression. Not a cure or anything, but supportive.
Sounds like you might be an extroverted introvert. When you're around people, you're kinda extroverted, but being actually an introvert, being around others feels draining and you need quiet and time alone to recover. I'm very much like that.

Hi, Marlene. I do think Tarot in the days of TH-cam and social media is very different than it was years ago before all of this. It can be a lot of inadvertent pressure. There are so many more decks than ever before. We're saturated. And additional pressures for having the exact right deck pairing or "practice." I don't think anyone is actively pressing people - - it's just the nature of navigating TarotTube and other platforms.
I do not record all of my readings. Just some. I do enjoy deck studies but once in a while. I have a regular practice but it isn't regimented.
If reading every day isn't serving you right now, it's definitely a good time for a break. You might feel differently after reducing your or eliminating Tarot time.
One of the things I enjoy doing to relax is cozy gaming. Pick your favorite platform (Steam/PC , Switch, Playstation, Xbox) and find a game or two to get lost in.
Wishing you renewal and rejuvenation, no matter what you choose. I hope you get back to a baseline that works for you when you are ready. ❤

Yes and yea and yes. All of that, dear one ❤ I was on year 2 of deep diving tarot decks and books each month, doing a 7 to 10 card reading for each card I pulled for the month in a year ahead spread, pulling 4 moon readings a month, pulling a plant/herb card and an animal card each week, pulling a general oracle card each week, and then doing anywhere from a 3 card to an 11 card reading several times a week..... oh did I also say I was trying to fit in learning runes and Lenormand? Yeah.... I crashed by the end of last year 😝🤯 looking back over my tarot journal for this year, I realized I have myself some grace and let it all go. It was extremely difficult for me. Tarot is also my safe place to land, question, sit with, hold space with. It is such an integral part of my spirituality and deep questioning. 😊 I did no year ahead spread, no recorded readings in January. I have 40 recorded readings for this year (drastically less than my norm). When I tried to overthink it, I just laid them down for awhile. I might do a Lenormand 5 card reading to last the whole week, or 2. I let myself forget and slow back to it naturally. Yeah, burnout is real! And recovery is real ❤
❤❤ restoration and rest to you, dear one 😊
