When we first saw it we thought 'oh that's not that steep' but then once we started climbing it was surprisingly really tough! The view was epic, can't beat it!

Alot of people don't know this but Southland isn't the southernmost part of the country, it's actually Stewart Island which is like 25 kilometers south of Invercargill.
Careful you don't slip off the bottom of NZ, you'll be swept off to the Antarctic! :-) Isn't there some kind of disagreement about the steepest road in the world being either the one you're on and the one in Wales? I haven't been to either, so I have no idea. I was watching a video of the Welsh one some months ago, it seems more windy than the NZ one.
Yes! For a while a road in Wales was classed as steeper, but then Baldwin St kicked off and studies were done to assess which one was actually steeper. Baldwin St emerged victorious!
