Watched video to get a gauge for the level of difficulty....ordered part...brought iPad to the garage and completed the repair of my 2001 Alero front driver's window in about 30 minutes. I don't know what the dealer would have charged, but I'm sure I saved hundreds. Thanks!
You sir are a lifesaver, I bought an 04 Alero a few years back and I've been able to fix just about everything its needed so far with help from your videos. you've certainly saved me Time and Money! Thank you
Replaced the window, regulator, and motor in my 2000 Alero. Was quoted ~$580 at the shop and was able to do it for less than $150 following the video. I bought the motor/regulator through 1A. Online chat was super helpful in showing me the correcft product, price was fair, shipping was fast. Thanks!!!
+Courtney Bolte Thank you for your order. If you would like to leave us a review on Google it would be greatly appreciated www.resellerratings.com/store/1A_Auto_Parts
i honestly want to say thank you for putting this video on youtube because i just fixed my alero 2001 replaced the regulator and now i saved about 300 dollars i appreciate it.
I absolutely love your videos! I replaced my regulator today thanks to this video! My cable didn't break but the white clips that go between the metal window holders and the regulator are what shattered all to pieces for some reason, so I replaced the whole thing. Seriously appreciate your videos so so much. Going to be replacing a power steering pump and doing the brakes on my truck next !
To roll down the window at this point you will have to cut the cables that are holding the bracket in place so you can lower the glass down to the point to reach the bolts. You will have to support the glass once the cable is cut.
Thank you so much for the video! I'm a 22 year old girl who knows nothing about cars! I was able to do it with the help of your video and with my dad's tools of course. :) But thanks again! :)
Thank you so much for helping me fix my window regulator! I watched your online tutorial and then ordered the part I needed from 1A Auto and my part was delivered with no hassles or problems. Great job! Thank you.
You could test the switch with a test light to see if it has power going to and from it. Also check the wire harness between the door and body of the vehicle to see if there are any broken or frayed wires that could be causing this issue.
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to replace these clips. We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair.
@albirtina washington We currently do not have access to one of these vehicles. We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future.
As easy as you made it look, even though I'm a mechanic of 35 years its on industrial forktrucks ( mostly electrical ) and not a auto mechanic. Thanks!
You may want to look for a loose or frayed wire in the door or in the wire harness that runs between the door and body of the car. If there's a frayed wire it could cause the issue that you are describing. If there aren't any broken or frayed wires you may also want to check the window motor to see if it could be damaged. Hope this helps you out 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for the video! I have my 2 door 2001 Alero driver window "propped up" with super glue for over a year now. It is on the weather stripping and edges of window. Should I replace weather stripping and if so, where do I purchase? Props to you and your dedication!

My son has a 2001 Alero, 4 doors. All of the windows work great except the driver side window. We were able to get it to go up and down if we beat against the door panel. Do you have any suggestions on why this would be and if it is something I can fix? Thank you so much.
um i got a question i have a 2004 4 door and the cable i know did snap because i have to push it back up so how would i replace it on the rear left side on the drivers side is there another regulator?

At this moment, the closest how-to video we have to your request is for this vehicle. The steps may not be 100% the same, but should contain an adequate amount of information necessary for accomplishing this task: +scotch stephens
Hi Mike: The regulator that I need to replace is my 2003 Olds Alero Rear Left door. The parts I ordered came as a combined motor and regulator. Do you have a video specifically for this job? Thank you. Mark W.

Thanks for the reply.. I was actually able to just unbolt & remove the motor from the regulator and then you can just push the window down with your hands.
I have an 02 Alero and I can't get my driver's side window to roll back up today. It's very cold outside so I think the weather had a play in this issue, but anyway I took off the door panel and noticed on the end of the regulator with the cable that has that spring around it that it'll move and straighten itself back and forth but the window still won't roll back up. I can't even try to move the window up with my hands, won't bulge at all. I want to say it's the cable but I'm not sure if it's the regulator too?... Any advice will help a lot, thank you!
I have a 2 door 2004 alero and my driver side window button broke and wont roll my window down Im pretty sure its the button its self but im not a 100 percent because the passenger button right next to it rolls it down no problem, so I'm wondering if its just a wire or the button because it stopped working for a couple days then started working again but now it wont work at all please help!!!
i actually had a question thats off topic. My 2000 alero 2door will not start wen the little light (on the left side of steering wheel, under ac vent) flashes. Ive tried searching it up...and cant seem to find what the problem is. Help?
If the window regulator cable has broke, you would need to replace the window regulator. We carry new window regulators on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
+Devin Banks Depending on the type of regulator you will have to cut the cable, or wind the motor. Any other viewers interested in these parts please click the link! www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Oldsmobile/Alero?TH-cam&CTA+Comment&Gpk
Can you replace a power window regulator with a manual one? I've had nothing but problems with my 01 Alero with all four windows. Living in the Midwest in the summer with no a/c and non-functional windows is a bear!
+13mypup You probably could, yes. But we don't really get into modifications so much as we do repairs themselves so short of getting the parts themselves to your door, we can't help you too much. Let us know how the job goes though. Sounds like an interesting project!
+Papito Swanson Sounds like you may have a mechanical failure with the regulator, itself. The first step is removing the interior door panel to get eyes on the problem. There could be a disconnected cable or a rivet may have become separated. Once you've determined root cause, 1A Auto will have the regulator you need to get the job done right and for less! For anyone else needing to repair the Olds Alero window regulator, 1A Auto carries them here: www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Oldsmobile/Alero?TH-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony
newzay50 If the window can't go up or down, then it certainly could be a problem with the regulator. You might also want to check the switch and the motor using a voltmeter, to make sure they're not the cause of the problem. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
Have to say... I know have 3 windows that do not work. Both back doors and now the passenger side. Which dropped down to where glass is not visible. The 2 back ones. I was going to let go for now as to $$$ spent on medical stuff, and have them blocked so they won't drop. Unfortunately can't drive with passenger window "open " . Just got done putting a lot of money into car... Runs great,,,then Bingo !!! Well have a question . Somewhat mechanical. Although noticed you possibly skipped a step. When is it safe to re-connect batter.. Or why disconnect in the first place. Notice you check regulator to make sure its working before putting everything back in place.. BUT then at the end to say to re-connect the battery. It would of had to be to check function . Not being picky ,,, just asking. As disconnection batter messes all your settings up (radio etc.) , and will cause puter memor to go through its "learning" phase...... Thanks .. from NJ
+CrabbieNJ Yeah, we disconnected and reconnected the battery multiple times during this procedure, and you'll likely do the same if you're testing the regulator/motor. It's important to disconnect the battery whenever you're working on or around the electrical components of your car. This ensures the safety of the equipment and yourself. Don't worry about the learning phase on the computer, that's very quick. Thank you for watching. Please let us know how the repair comes out! 1aauto.com?TH-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony 888-844-3393

would this be the same for the rear windows of a 4 door alero 2003?.
