I'm Asian American and I had a pleasant time with Estonians when I visited Tallinn a little over 2 years ago. I find them approachable particularly the younger generation, I feel they are affable and I really enjoyed having a conversation with them. As a keen traveler Tallinn is one of the most memorable places I've visited and I look forward on visiting Tallinn again this coming December.
Perhaps the caveat is that there are no negative stereotypes about Chinese, or East Asians in general. If any then that they're hard-working, unassuming, and know kung-fu. Add a compatible religion and shared experience with Communism, and there's a lot of common ground. I see what you mean about the pressure. Which absolutely goes the other way, too, for Estonians in foreign countries, as well as Estonians here, interacting with foreigners. People are very proud of this country. Even if they may be racist, then the impression that they give about themselves and their country may overrule it, and keep overt racism at bay. PS: keep making Tujurikkuja reaction videos!
Estonians can be nice to foreign guests (such as tourists and students), BUT they had better learn the tragic situation of Western Europe and Scandinavia with regards to migrants. There is obviously no turning back when you step into that abyss.

I can see that you are right, IF we consider your ethical roots, which seems to be from far east. As a middle eastern, I (among with many other darker skinned friends of mine from those regions) have experienced many incidents of racism, though not physical or dangerous in any kind (just in social interactions and the way they might behave with you). Unfortunately this is increasing recently, thanks to the popularity of the conservative party and also the terrorism-related focus of the media on the middle east. All that said, I can't deny many good incidents of very nice people too, that I'm grateful for. Just wanted to mention that it's not that simple that you say; depending on where you come from and how you look like, your experiences might be different.
I agree with many commentators below saying the vast majority of Estonians aren't inasmuch racists as they are xenophobic, not being used to people of different racial origin. There should be a separate word for it. But when it comes to people of Asian descent, be they Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese etc, in my experience there is rather positive attitude towards them in Estonia. Even among the older generations there is this perception of Asians as diligent, dedicated, hard-working people. Most Estonians are willing to identify with that.

Racism is a code word for anti-white. Nothing wrong when keeping your heritage, all populations in the world have the right to keep their heritage and countries. Estonia belongs to Estonians and there is nothing wrong with that.

They're, maybe less in Tallinn, but here in Tartu people tend to take you far from the top, I mean if you work you never arrive at the top also if you're the best. I playing music, 38 years in it, last 15 across Europe, here I have a problem, I write to every place, nobody reply, who do offer me a free concert (no money), who says simple No, without any other word (education is not their power). I do some concert thanks to friends, but nothing more. Now I try to open a business and I find so hard, also if the people tell me it's so easy, not if you're not estonian. The phrase I listen in all situation is:'You not understand', what do you mean (my answer), and again 'you not understand', just because I'm not estonian. Some of my friends (I'm Italian, we're italians and we like to go around together and have fun) are arabian looks like (me too), and sometimes we have problems in bars because some drunk stupid think we're terrorist, or we're from country estonian have fight with, well no, I'm from that island in the middle of the sea, Sicily, and I know what multicultural society is, I grow up with African schoolmate, with middle east ecc ecc. My only experience of Estonians was working with a very anti social guy in Kazakhstan. He was rude to me ( British) and the Russian and Kazakh colleagues. I have an opportunity over the next 6 days to find out what the majority of Estonians are like as I am going to visit there. I speak Russian and have very close relationship with Russian people. So I want to know if they really do not like Russian people. People are People. I think I will be surprised and happy to find out that the people like everyone. I feel sorry for us all around this world because our "so called" Leaders like to divide us. We are are all earthlings people! We are all the same. Slaves to our rich greedy bomb making masters. When we all wake up to this is the day that we become free! I hope to find that Estonians are nicer than the one single rude person I had to work with on a very hard job offshore on the caspian sea with some very very nice Russians and Kazakh people.

Estonian racism is kinda weird. It usually goes like this: we see someone from a different country and we act nice around them. But the second they turn around we start judging and stereotyping. many people here aren't racist at all but there are still some, i'd say a lot of people are homophobic, transphobic and abelist more than they are racist but i don't have stats to prove it it's just fom my experience and also a lot of people here have stuff against russians or very religios people but that's only bc of the history i think, idk just thought i'd share my thoughts as an estonian :)

Some Estonians are really racists who are covered by non racists luckily. Today I experienced real racism in Tartu while crossing road. Horrible feeling
