If there were 10 nominees, here's who I think the extra 5 should be. 1. Zoolander 2. The Royal Tenenbaums 3. A.I. Artificial Intelligence 4. A Beautiful Mind 5. Amelie
And this year she won for The Great Gatsby. She is one of Hollywood's best girls and she's very sympathic! Ok how couldn't she... She's married with Baz Luhrmann!
I do agree that Moulin Rouge should have more oscars and deserve to get 2 awards and I think the best director category should go to Baz Luhrmann to win the best director and same to win the best picture category for Moulin Rouge
I'd like to say that it was the CanCan outfits that helped them win the Oscar. They were incredibly inventive and came in designs that people wouldn't really expect. A Dominatrix, Marie Antoinette, a french maid, the Statue of Libery, a school girl and a CanCan dress based on a baby's outfit. Who can really think of these ideas for CanCan outfits? I certainly didn't when I first saw the extended CanCan here on TH-cam.
Moulin Rouge! is one of my all time favorites. Baz Lurhman and Catherine Martin are amazing work in this film. Amazing costume and set design w stunning visuals. Best love story of all time and I will take that to my grave. Full of passion and romance and drama and tragedy w literally the best soundtrack.
At THAT time nobody had a crystal ball to see the Oscars for ROTK two years ahead. Still, as amazing you may think the work was in "Moulin Rouge!" the best work in art direction and costume design for 2001 was from the team of "LOTR: FOTR", hands down.
What a great funny skit and what an incredible line up of nominations for costume design. The early 2000s were one of the best times for entertainment.
i've been following oscar race since then and the general consensus was that Return of the King was going to sweep at least the techincal categories regadless of the fact of it being good or not
Catherine martin will be collaborating with miuccia Prada for the great Gatsby movie coming out,so Im predicting martin or miuccia could pick up an oscar
There is no kind of public art in topless dancing which is banned in many countries if it performed on a public stage in front of a fee paying public audience made up of mostly foreign tourists and their children.
Both the first and the last Lord of the Rings movies should have won Best Picture and Best Director. Ian McKellan should have won Best supporting actor for the first movie.
Judianna Makowski should have won for Harry Potter. A pity it was the only film of the saga nominated in this category (at least Linda Hemming should have been nominated the year after for the Chamber of Secrets).
Shame on the Academy!!! The Oscar in this category and in art direction of "Moulin Rouge!" over "LOTR: FOTR" were such a travesty!!! How can you compare a lousy Parisian cabaret with the creation of an ENTIRE WORLD???
relax, lord of the rings won with Return of the king. It's not a robbery, and have you even seen Moulin Rouge? the work here is amazing
@Diego Pisfil No. This is the best love story of all time.
Owen was nominated in the original screenplay category for "The Royal Tenenbaums" alongside director Wes Anderson.
Moulin Rouge was amazing. The costumes were gorgeous ♥
If there were 10 nominees, here's who I think the extra 5 should be.
1. Zoolander
2. The Royal Tenenbaums
3. A.I. Artificial Intelligence
4. A Beautiful Mind
5. Amelie
Back when Academy awards were fun and original
And this year she won for The Great Gatsby. She is one of Hollywood's best girls and she's very sympathic! Ok how couldn't she... She's married with Baz Luhrmann!
MOULIN ROUGE deserved more than 2 Oscars (and a nominaton for best director)!!
Absolutely not.
I do agree that Moulin Rouge should have more oscars and deserve to get 2 awards and I think the best director category should go to Baz Luhrmann to win the best director and same to win the best picture category for Moulin Rouge
@@chrisraine7904 No just no.

Catherine Martin, like her husband, is a creative powerhouse.
Only few could go that Extra length for the Presentation of an Award...and Ben Stiller is one of them

I bet one design they didn't win with was the Bra as the Moulin Rougue dancers are topless,so no need to fashion any.
I’m surprised Zoolander isn’t nominated since one of the key things about the movie is the costumes.
supermariofan03 but which one would you replace
Rodrigo Aldrete Avila Probably The Affair of the Necklace since I’ve never even heard of it.
At THAT time nobody had a crystal ball to see the Oscars for ROTK two years ahead. Still, as amazing you may think the work was in "Moulin Rouge!" the best work in art direction and costume design for 2001 was from the team of "LOTR: FOTR", hands down.
It wasn't an elf Owen. It was a dwarf.
What a great funny skit and what an incredible line up of nominations for costume design. The early 2000s were one of the best times for entertainment.
Or at least the best years to make fun of films since they were easy to make fun of.
That's the Instrumental Version of Relax by Frankie goes to Hollywood playing in the background at the start.
Sounds Amazing!!!
Next year's Oscars may find Catherine Martin picking up a second Oscar for "The Great Gatsby".
Lightning McQueen and Alex the Lion.
Owen Wilson never played a Tanenbaum. He played Eli Cash, a close friend to the Tanenbaums.
Nate Shu and Gimli was not a "Lord of the Ring"
Weird. I have not missed an Oscar telecast in 20 years, yet I don't remember this.
MrCristoforoantonio wierd how do you think that happened
i've been following oscar race since then and the general consensus was that Return of the King was going to sweep at least the techincal categories regadless of the fact of it being good or not

"You did look good as an elf..." 😂😂
They could upload these videos in better quality, right? Its their own channel...I mean...
*Cough*....dwarf... A dwarf would end a man for calling him an elf
2:14 that laugh!! xD
What was Owen Wilson nominated for?
cesaraeon original screenplay with Wes Anderson for The Royal Tenenbaums
It's great you uploaded this video! Any idea to upload the win for Art Direction?
There is no kind of public art in topless dancing which is banned in many countries if it performed on a public stage in front of a fee paying public audience made up of mostly foreign tourists and their children.
No weapon at the award show
please upload the art direction win, please!!!
Did Owen just say Harry Potter and the SORCERER's Stone? ....
Sarah Stopforth I thought that 2 I think it's because Americans wouldn't be about to say philosopher's stone
She is now nominated again for Elvis
"Writer, Director, Actor...Quitter"
The whole trilogy sould've won every single Oscar it was nominated for. It was THAT good. Shame on the Academy!!!
Both the first and the last Lord of the Rings movies should have won Best Picture and Best Director. Ian McKellan should have won Best supporting actor for the first movie.
They were walking down to Relax
is that president snow I hear?
3:35 wait Harry Potter actually got nominated???
Your point?
0:03
Owen Wilson is not far off by calling Ben Stiller difficult, since he is a notoriously difficult actor to work with.
And i bet that these fashion designers never fashioned any Bras for the Moulin Rougue topless female dancers.
Judianna Makowski should have won for Harry Potter. A pity it was the only film of the saga nominated in this category (at least Linda Hemming should have been nominated the year after for the Chamber of Secrets).
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them went on to win in this category.
No. Moulin Rouge! is incredible costumes. Fantastic. Colorful.
@Diego Pisfil
Harry Potter? No way.
Harry Potter can't fight Moulin Rouge. And you can't find a real diamond necklace which worn by Nicole Kidman.
Harry Potter or LoTR should have won!
MCMIVC have you even seen moulin rouge, it’s incredible costumes!
甄甄~~~
It sucks Harry Potter got snubbed during the 2000's. LOTR should have won that award.
Haha, she snubbed Nicole.
I'm sorry what? Moulin Rouge? Over Lord of the Rings? WHAT THE HELL!?!?!
Lord of the Rings got robbed.
Not in the end........
Shame on the Academy!!! The Oscar in this category and in art direction of "Moulin Rouge!" over "LOTR: FOTR" were such a travesty!!! How can you compare a lousy Parisian cabaret with the creation of an ENTIRE WORLD???
Harry Potter should have won
No. No way. You can't make a real diamond and platinum necklace.
@@nicknicknick5305 why??
Not so really great the costumes in that film, don't understand why it won...
