Yeah I guess what they're doing is just giving you a feel for what Zapier can do but you would need to be on a paid plan if you want to do anything useful with Zapier.
The two examples I showed were slightly different and perform different tasks so it's not really a fair comparison. But you can save some formatting steps when you use Make.

Zapier costs has drasticly increased. 18 usd for only 750 zaps. And 84 usd for 5k
The way I reconcile the pricing is if it's saving me time, it's worth the expense.
In my opinion Make is less expensive and far more powerful than Zapier.
They've certainly become more competitive over the years
