Thank you for running speed tests outside and in different locations in the home. Difficult to find reviews with people doing that. It was very helpful
I have this router for 2 years now with my gigabit internet from xfinity. It works really good I'm happy. Definitely a huge upgrade from the Netgear R6300 AC router
Silent Skeptic indeed, if you buy this router and then use a 4G ... mmm ... you must have a lot of money 💰 I want to see real speeds with gigabit internet, wifi6 devices and test with Iperf (internet and local).
Owned/still own the RAX120 from launch... Lots of little issues throughout the first year of ownership and I started getting tons of problems managing my whole house once we went over 20 connected devices... I even tried to pair it with the EAX 80 - Netgear's official Nighthawk Extender - but that did nothing to fix my issues. My biggest problem with the router though, the software/app are extremely limited/streamlined and gives you little or no options for troubleshooting or even understanding what's happening on your network. I was able to fix some connectivity issues by restoring back to the factory settings and resetting the whole network (had to happen more than once), but that didn't last and is pretty much your only option. Pair that with the only getting 90 days of phone support without paying extra to get support for the whole year and you end up with a beta product that won tons of awards and in truth is a great performer until you start to push it. Now the RAX120 has been boxed and I picked up two AX88Us using Asus's Mesh tech. Zero drops since the switch, tons of troubleshooting/ data tracking options to work with through Asus's old but detailed app/software, and much better overall performance throughout the whole house! I know the AX Broadcom chips have their own issues, but my home network has been 100% stable and performing great since we made the switch. All that said, with 6e chips are being finalized so you might as well wait and see what happens next. Netgear may nail the next generation of these routers but I just don't agree with their streamlined "take all the options away" philosophy for their software and that probably won't change.
Damn, how much do you paid for you Internet? That is some impressive speed. Here in Seattle I paid for Comcast and it's a rip off. $120 per month for 130Mbs Download and 6Mbs Upload Speed.
okay what if the internet provider is giving me 1gbps but my pc is having problems with connection drops to 250mbps when sometimes its works properly at 960mbps, also wifi is having problems at times as well. what can you recomend to me because local best buy wants to sell me a ax12 and there not cheap as you know. would you be able to help ?
Heads up, I did some testing on this router that you might want to also do. I live in an area where I have to use LTE for internet and I use a Nighthawk Mobile Hotspot as a pass through to my Nighthawk R7000 router. Bought this AX12 with my Tax return and was pretty amazed by it, till I started gaming. It did (or does perhaps) not like a cellular internet connection, it will drop the connection and reacquire it several times in a ten minute period. Firmware updates, still did it. Took it back and got a new one, still did it. Re hooked up the R7000, no issues, hooked back up the AX12 and consistent drops. The drops were like hiccups, playing a FPS online, and would lose connection several times in a match but reconnect in a second or two. Then some matches I'd lose connection long enough to get booted from the game, just to be able to join the game again as soon as I was back to the menu. Also to note, I live about 1k feet from the cell tower and get a 30ms ping and a consistent 84mbps down speeds, so it isn't like the cell signal is by any means poor. I should also add, that I liked the AX12 so much and was so desperate to get it to work that I tested the second unit at a friend's place on his Cable internet, and it was flawless. Just a heads up.
We upgraded to 500mb a year ago and the cable engineer says you will never get above 270mbs it’s meant to be shared across all your device’s so we changed to the netgear rax120 and 540mbs all day long even get over 620 on the Xbox it’s a wicked bit of kit
I loved the presentation. Can you please explain what software you have used to show the display of your cell phone screen side by side with main camera?
This is the same speed at my Wifi 5 router. Can you do an iPerf or other test to show if it can get over 900mbps on wifi not relying on your ISP? I have gigabit internet and need a router that can handle it.
What should i get? I have a sb6141 and an n66rt currently. I do wired gaming pc and wireless netflix and smartphone youtube. I have comcast 25 3 internet speed but might switch back to the 100sometime Was looking at mb7621 and nighthawk r7000 or 6700. Been having connection drops audio lagging behind and blurry video
I don't understand how you get such a high speed for the M1 on it's own, I get 40 on the download and 7 at best on the upload 😭🤷🏽♂️ I know o2 probably restrict the speed can you get around this
Have you tried adding ts9 antenna to it to get a better signal possibly increasing speeds? I been debating to do it to my netgear m1 that I have in my office.
I have been using the same set up that you are reviewing today for six months the only difference is I am using a cat 8 ethernet cord and I have a antenna on the M1
Need some help if anyone could provide some! Currently building a setup with Lian Li Dynamic O11 case, ryzen 7 3700x CPU, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Motherboard and RX 5700 XT GPU, how many fans would I need to be good enough to cool the system and what PSU should I use?! I’m new to building PC’s so quite clueless in certain areas! Thanks for reading:)
So if I understand well, you have a 4G modem in which you plug the Nighthawk and this is totally independant from the usual internet connection via ADSL où Fiber. Am I right ? Thanks
I have a similar setup with the nighthawk as the LTE modem, & using an synology router.... I have it in IP pass-through which disables the M1's wifi, you will have to change the IP address for example the M1 will be 192.168.2.1 and you new fancy fast router will be 192.168.1.1 this should fix your speed problem
Jeez we use the Nighthawk M1 here in the states for AT&T, i was lucky and got grandfathered in on the only Unlimited plan you could get on a hotspot here before they killed it off in 2017, but i've only ever seen 70 down in the best of conditions. 250 down / 100 up is insane hahah.
I just bought ax12 and I have 960 mbps downloads from cable modem. However router speed on 5G is 55-60 mbps. Any idea why? Netgear support just gave up.
My advice to everyone is to wait until NETGEAR has sorted out the firmware problems with 2.4GHz wifi channel before getting this wifi router. I've recently upgraded my NETGEAR wifi router from RAX80 to RAX200 and started to experience problems with all the devices that connect to the 2.4 GHz channel. The connection is slow, intermittent and keeps dropping, I've changed the channel numbers and tried every possible option. I've even done 5 factory resets but it hasn't improved the stability or speed of the 2.4 GHz channel. I have a SMART TV and a cable box that connect to the RAX80 via wifi without any problems but will not connect with the RAX200. Looking at the Netgear forums it seems like this is a common problem and Netgear support is non existent. I'm sending back my router to Amazon and will do more research before buying another. I might just wait for Wifi 6E.
I don’t know how it’s going in the uk when it comes to 5g but in juli the whole netherlands wil have 5g maybe in the uk too? Idk but when there’s 5g in the uk then you should get the netgear mr5200 cause it uses 5g so it should be way faster

Don't know why you connected it to your 4g router when the nighthawk has. Quad core processor.. you need at least a 1gbps connection to even make use of the nighthawk..
Even 4G LTE is shows faster speed in Download and Upload. The slowest 30mbps fibre connection are much better than 4G anyway. only 21usd in my country. That's should be enough for casual user
240mbps 4g. That is already insane for people like us in India over LTE network. It seems just for the name sake we have 4g, the speeds we get is usually betwenn 2 to 20 mbps max day time. And during night upto 50 mbps (location specific).
Just wanted to say thank you so much for making the videos on the M2 and this router also showing that they combine!!! I purchased both as the ISP in my new place was 1mb :( and now with this setup I got full Wi-Fi coverage around my flat and I have speeds from 20-27-mbps on the EE unlimited sim plan! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Not true.
