They came out really good and were not difficult to make. It was really nice to have a gluten free dough that could be worked with easily. Thank you so much for watching.
Foods containing wheat starch that are labelled gluten free are suitable for all people with coeliac disease.. The issue comes in when you have a separate wheat allergy and so will have to avoid GFWS. The buns look great, I'm going to try them using Caputo flour as that's easily available here in the UK
Yes, that is my understanding as well Bev in regards to wheat starch. I use the Caputo for pizza crust and really like it. I used to be able to get it at one of my local grocery stores here in the states but they no longer carry it. I can get it on Amazon but its around 18.00USD for a couple pounds of it on Amazon which I feel is pretty steep to pay for GF flour.
Great video. I followed this step-by-step and can confirm these are some of the best gluten free buns I’ve had! They definitely don’t fall apart which really is huge. Thank you!
My wife really liked them. She asked if I could just use the recipe and shape them into hot dog buns. I did but they’re just not as good as they were for hamburger buns. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience with the recipe!
Hi thank you for this great video. Im trying to learn gluten free baking, and am learning by watching videos. In this recipe you mention 3 1/2 cups flour or 320 grams. my understanding is 1 cup of flour weighs 120 grams. Did you mean to say 420 grams? Thanks Peter
Yes, I should have said 420 grams not 320. It's sometimes hard to bake and talk at the same time LOL. Thank you for catching that. The recipe should be linked in the description of the video.
Thanks Jamie! I think I am going to go ahead and try this. I also tend to just order burgers out with no bun and just whatever toppings. "hamburger salad" lol. I've tried several brands of store bought GF buns, and quite frankly I think every one is horrible. Most disintegrate before I can eat the whole thing, and they are so thick/dense I feel like I need to unhinge my jaw just to get a bite. I have done lettuce wraps or GF tortillas as adequate substitutes, but I just long for a goood old juicy hamburger on a bun.
We both really liked these. Tara actually ate the whole bun and NEVER does that so I know she enjoyed it. It held up for the entire burger. When I get a burger out now, I feel like the non-gluten free buns are always huge so it was nice to have these where the burger fit perfectly on it.
Wow. You made homemade hamburger buns! They really look good, too - inside and on top. I like how you topped them three different ways. They look like they can handle a juicy burger. When you actually made your hamburgers, I wonder what kind of toppings you used and how well those buns held up to it.
We had burgers that evening and they held up very well. I had cheese, mayo, tomato, lettuce on mine. They DID NOT break apart or crumble up. Tara really liked it and actually ate all of the bun instead of throwing part of it away. This recipe is a keeper!
Thank you Tom. I appreciate that feedback. I often try things while filming and Tara tries them later when she gets home from work. Sometimes her thoughts on the items are mentioned in the video and sometimes it's in the comments so look there as well. I've asked if she wants to be on video and she keeps telling me no lol.@@tomhackney7048
Im going to try this

Also going to try this exclamation point I wonder if they will freeze well question mark
@@tomhackney7048 We put most of them in the freezer. While i haven't taken one out to try I think they will be fine. Thanks for watching Tom!
I just made these. Turned out very good and will definitely make again. Thanks!
So happy to hear that the recipe worked out so well! Thank you for coming back and letting me know.

I will definitely be making these!!!!
We liked them and Tara ate the whole bun which she never does!
I was also wondering if it matters if I use warm milk or water to activate the yeast ?
Yes, you need the warm milk or water for the yeast to make it bloom properly

I always highly value your opinions but I also really like it when you include Tara's also

Can this recipe be used with Bob's Red Mill GF bread flour also ?
This recipe was formulated for the king arthur gluten free flour blend so I cannot speak on if it would with Bobs Red Mill. Thank you for watching.
To make my bread more airy I always add an extra teaspoon of yeast.
Thank you for watching and sharing your tip!
