I had that outward facing camera.... It catches street signs and lines in the road, everything. I got caught doing a slight rolling stop in a parking lot, in the middle of the night. I got my peepee slapped for it. I was like, come on, serious? It's too much invasion. Too much big brother. It just ties your hands even further. I have never failed an inspection, never an accident or freight claim and no tickets, not even a pull over. I hate those cameras.
While I'm not an OTR driver, I've considered it many times. I have years of experience in a variety of dump and haul trucks. That being said, I'd never drive for a company that feels the need to surveil me 24/7. A lot of drivers spend weeks in their trucks and it feels like a serious violation of privacy to me. As long as drivers put up with this nonsense, companies will continue to do it.
You do you buddy That's all that matters. In the end as long as you're taking home a check at the end of the week that's the best you can hope for. Take care of that little boy.
I understand it from a company's thought because of some drivers texting while driving or just not paying attention but on the other hand, does it ever shut off? I mean it's like having a camera in your house and obviously we're not going to want people watching us or even the government, which it's coming down to pretty soon. I just don't know but if my company or any company wants to watch me operate their vehicles then do be it just don't watch me when I'm on my break or doing my 10 hrs. Also, aren't they already watching us thru the ELD? it's a difficult situation but oh well, there's nothing to hide if you're doing the right thing.. Thanks WildBeard for the info and video.. I work at Amazon and we have a similar camera system with AI. I've yet to meet a single driver who is okay with AI driver-facing cameras. Unfortunately, with time every mega carrier will have them, and in fact, nearly every mega carrier currently has them or has plans to implement them. Insurance rates and bad drivers are the culprits.
Not true, not all mega carriers are going with the driver facing Pam. Transport is going with forward facing only and swift is forward facing only.. stop making statements that are untrue
Honestly I know people will have the knee jerk reaction to say the company sucks i wouldn’t drive for them and blah blah blah. But truth is I would bet they are getting pressured into this by the insurance company. They blackmail mail companies all the time to impose their will on businesses. They could be telling Hirschbach that if they don’t they will be dropped from coverage or pay 3 times more than they do now. I understand people don’t like it neither would I but I also think people need to be objective to at least look at it from the company standpoint. I know I sound like a Hirschbach homer but I’m js insurance companies are brutal in their arm twisting to get what they want. Safe travels to you out WB! 🏁

A good friend of mine was suspended for a week because the AI camera lost sight of his eyes because of the bill of his baseball cap
Do you not use google maps? Specifically Google maps satellite view
I do I did a whole video on it.
@@WildBeardTrucking figured I'd check you would be amazed at how many drivers don't know about it
AMEN BABY PRAISE THE LORD 4 A PURPOSE TO B ALIVE 🎸🦅👀🥁🎹🙌💯🇺🇲🤚📸
I've yet to meet a single driver who is okay with AI driver-facing cameras. Unfortunately, with time every mega carrier will have them, and in fact, nearly every mega carrier currently has them or has plans to implement them. Insurance rates and bad drivers are the culprits.
If more drivers across the industry would quit, they would remove them. They take more and control because drivers allow it.
@@wendymorris3689just like when swift installed them. It wasn’t very long and they removed them.
I’m ok with them. I’m at J.B. Hunt and haven’t had any complaints about the A.I. cameras.
GOVT HAS YOU BY THE BALLS AND THE DNA-- JUST BEN- DOVER COUGH AND ACCEPT THE GOVT WEEEEEEENIE - ITS HARMLESS UNTIL YOU SERVING 75 YEARS BECAUSE YOU FUCKING YAWNED WAKE UP PEOPLE
Cameras should be in all trucks
They will need more recruiters because drivers are going to quit
Driving 23 years, I will not drive with the camera pointed at me. I own my own trucking company, West Specialized Transportation, and if I will not do it, I will not make my drivers do it.
#whatintarnation
SDOT.
Invasion of privacy. Who says they aint pepin on you while you are sleeping or changing clothes. Screw that. I quit. To much babbysitting. You own your truck you have the say what goes on with your truck more people need to stand up to this bullshit.
True. U either trust me to drive the truck or u dont
@14:15 Hopefully that’s something I can tell my wife one day.
