- Founded in 1918, the Polish Home Club is located in a part of Fells Point once known as Little Poland. Join us to discover the history of Baltimore’s Polish community, and the fun events that still take place at the Polish Home Club today. Thanks for watching and see you next week with another Five Minute Histories video!
This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." Every week, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore and post it on our Facebook page and TH-cam channel.

My mother worked there for a time in the 1960s. My dad's family were members of old St. Stan's.
When I used to live in Laurel, MD, I always enjoyed visiting Fell's Point, and I often walked by that place and wondered about it. Now I'm sorry that I never attended any events there! Thanks for satisfying my curiosity about the Polish Home Club!
I am from Cleveland and this video as well as the earlier one about the Czech communities could have been done in Cleveland. My parents (and grand parents) were active in the Czech social clubs and the bar & dance hall in this video could have been filmed at their Czech social club. Unfortunately that area of Cleveland is pretty much all gone after the recession of 2008 but we have many pictures of events my parents attended at the club or the family events we held in the hall. These bring back great memories.
I’m a half-Czech from Cleveland - my mom is from the Fleet Ave and St. John Nepomucene area (Karlin). I have fond memories of the Karlin Hall and polka dances in Slavic Village. Apparently that was the hardest hit zip code in the entire country in 2008- all the Karlin hall members lost their houses and moved out 😭
So cool! We will have to visit Cleveland now.
Another great lesson learned. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Great memories of all the funeral breakfast , wedding receptions, and family parties with my Polish family at Polish Home!
My parents were first generation Polish Americans and my grandparents came from Poland during the mid 1800’s!
Wow--great family history!
Casimir Pulaski Day is a state holiday in Illinois.
There was also a Polish Home Club on Fairhaven Avenue in the Curtis Bay section of Baltimore. It attracted many residents who worked in the nearby factories and industrial plants.
Yes--we will have to do a video on that building as well!
The festival was near Patterson Park. Not in the park 10+ years ago.
Dziękuję
Proszę!
So that is why my father would threaten us with “bean picking” for punishment back in the early 1970’s.
Oh my! Glad we brought this full circle for you.
1900 - US$ 3 = US$ 111 in 2023

living conditions in America the beautiful in 1900 in the industrial cities, factories, meat plant suburbs was
appalling, filth, horrific.
It is Holy Rosary and not Our Lady of the Rosary....also, you mispronounced Golabki. You could have any Polish person at the Club how to pronounce it.
Thank you for the corrections!
No problem. Thanks for the spotlight on Polish Community. I am a part of that community, and I do appreciate it.
