    Because neither are linear to one another I think the 9 is better over time. More affordable and more data points to collect on mean value.

      What's interesting for these cards is the rise % and fall % are similar, but the 10's it looks like have had higher upside initially. But of course also cost a lot more in general

    Great video as always. I am not a graded collector but I’m warming up to the idea only for rookie cards. However now that the “doctoring” a card pushes me back to not wanting anything graded because I don’t know if a card has been doctored or not. I’m also not considering a graded card for investment purposes. I’m a purist of collecting I would prefer raw but at the same time I want my card protected. Grading is a catch 22 situation

    Dustin, thanks for doing this video as it sort of cleared up my perception of PSA 9 vs 10. I’m glad you included PSA 8’s for these iconic cards as that really looks to be the safest buy for people on a budget. They are affordable, and don’t have too much of a roller coaster ride that the 9 and 10 go through. I get so caught up in the PSA 9 vs 10 dilemma,, but a centered PSA 8 is a damn good card if you can find it.

      Yeah man, I’ll probably do more of these with different cards. I’m starting to buy into your ‘9’ theory

    Including a BGS 9.5 would have been interesting to see given how Beckett’s perception has fallen in the hobby

    Been thinking about this since I started grading it’s crazy how much more valuable a 10 is

    • @garygordon3075
      @garygordon3075 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's part of the problem, a lot of cards if you put a 9 and 10 side by side, there's no difference at all and at times the 9 looks better. That's why I prefer 9's personally.

    I Push back on the idea that a PSA 9 is the same value as Raw Cards!. They smokin Cheerios

      Check the stats, people are spending more on raw in hopes of grading to a 10.

    PSA 9s have always been a great value, especially for ultra modern. If you’re a collector on a budget, $29 for a PSA 9 versus $119 for a PSA 10 in the same card is a no-brainer to me.

    so from the sounds of it I think 2016 would be the sweet spot for me to use my time machine...I was doing well enough in my career that I had some money saved up and I could have bought Brady cards pretty cheap. I would go all the way back to 2000 but back then I didn't have, as my grandfather would say, a pot to p*ss in or a window to throw it out of! haha. Great video. For me, 7s or 8s are perfect for collectors (especially for retro era cards)

    The price between a psa 9-10 is staggering! And somewhat insulting there’s probably so many psa 9s on the market because of the price! I hope psa stays at 10, as far as grading scale

    Funny perspective. You think if you’ve been in long enough on these cards you’ve done well. Yes the graph also would say you’re an idiot for not selling them in 2020/21 and even now. Why are you still holding? 😂

    • @TheSportsCardDad
      @TheSportsCardDad  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well the benefit of hindsight is always helpful in life lol still holds true that most of these key cards are still up quite a bit from 2019 and previous

      @@TheSportsCardDad I understand, but you would have been in a coma to not have sold since 2019 unless you are true collector. I think long term you will see most cards, even your Brady and other HoF are flat over time and liquidity is harder and harder over time. I also think value is shifting towards Autos. Look at those prices over time.
