- Savor The High Elevation Flavor - In this episode of my Continental Divide Trail Thru Hike Documentary, I hike from Grand Lake to Steamboat Springs. It's an 85 mile hike over 3.5 days. The CDT passes through Rocky Mountain National Park, Never Summer Wilderness, Routt & Arapaho national forests. I encountered several Moose near RMNP. The trail climbs up Parkview Mountain, the last 12,000ft peak along the official CDT. The Rabbit Ears Range exceeded my expectations, and overall I enjoyed this section. Wyoming is drawing closer now, and by the time I reached Steamboat Springs, I could feel it. Only 65 miles left to the Wyoming border now!

I live above a pizze place, when you ate the pizza in the video, I noticed the background pizza smell again, for a moment it was like I could smell the video content :D definitely the weirdest moment today
If my content smells like pizza, I will take that as a compliment :)
Really cool seeing that tiny version of the Colorado River!!
Still blows my mind!
If I could freeze time and live forever in one place, the beauty, of this part of the hike, would be the place!
And the San Juans 😉
Park View Mountain is amazing!!
Makes me miss never summer Wilderness. One of my favorite places
Any favorite places in Never Summer? The CDT doesn't stay in it for long, but from the maps, it looked like some awesome country north of Bowen Pass
Seeking Lost yes! Right past Bowen pass you head up another pass on top of parika lake. It’s gorgeous there
When I hiked the PCT, I lost my warm hat in the Sierra Nevada 2 days before town and then on the ride into that town, left my sunhat in someone's car. Lost my replacement sunhat in Oregon, but fortunately another hiker found it and I got it back a few hours later. So I can relate to losing your hat. I also lost 2 flashlights and 1 bivy sack, but that is another story. I'm just loving the views of Colorado, but all good things must come to an end.
I found that having my PCT journal means more to me years later than it did at the time I was hiking. I'm so glad I kept up with it instead of giving up partway like so many do as it is a lot of work to keep it updated.
Dang, your hats are cursed! I think we're just bound to lose a couple items along the way. I had another hiker pick up an item I left along the trail too, that's a great feeling to get back something you already wrote off.
That's great you stuck with the blog! I feel the same way... having the blog to look back on later will be worth it. And of course, having something to look back on was one of the big reasons why I made these videos :)
@@SeekingLost you are so lucky to have recorded your hike! Something to always remember!
Thank You for sharing the CDT with me. It is like I'm right there with you hiking and enjoying the magnificent Scenery !
Great videos....
Have you given any thought to going back and clearing those downed trees from the trail? If I lived in the area I would love to do something like that.
I wish I lived near the CDT!! I would totally do that.
Great vid as always! Was curious how those Cascadia 13’s held up for you? Also were they the goretex model?
Thank you! They weren't GoreTex. This pair last me to Yellowstone, and the last pair from Yellowstone to Canada (850+ miles)... I'm still wearing my last pair to the gym and they're still in pretty damn good shape!
Seeking Lost Good deal! Thanks for the quick reply, considering picking up a pair for an upcoming trip to the OHT. Keep up the great work
@@user-xb5cn6dz5k Awesome, enjoy your hike. I've been wanting to visit the Ozarks. Someday!
Those ridge walks though... How long did you have the mattress before the bubble? What was your experience with ticks so far? Sucks about the hat. I've been loving that model.
Nothing like a good ridge walk! That air mattress was brand new, and used for the first time after Ghost Ranch. So it only last about 6 weeks before the bubble. I eventually got a new pad sent to me in Lander, and had that one til the end with no delamination. So it'll be interesting to see how it holds up in the long run. And that OR hat is great isn't it? The ventilation on the side is great, and without the sunflap, it looks like a normal-ish hat in town. Oh, and not a single tick all trail :)
