    I know this is an old video but Terre d'Hermes is my signature fragrance. Where I live, these types of fragrances are not common at all and I take full advantage of it with niche quality and genuine niche fragrances. The winters here are extremely cold and icy and Terre d'Hermes literally cuts through the wind. In my experience gathered from my own nose and those around me, I get an extreme sense of woods rather than citrus which seems to differ from a LOT of people. Vetiver and the mineral note combined with deep wood notes. I feel like this fragrance defines me as a person lol.

      Yeah when I first smelled Tdh from the cap I was like no way. After applying it's one of my top favorite fully totally classy super masculine cologne scents I own. The next totally classy super masculine colognes I own are D&G The One, Bentley Intense For Men EDP, Trump's Success & Empire colognes. Antonio Banderas's Icon EDP is also pretty classy masculine. Also a big fan of Dunhill's Racing Icon For Men EDP, Y by Yves Saint Laurent EDP For Men and Tru Fragrance's Yellowstone Ride For Men.
      It seems super hard to find the high quality fully masculine classy scents much anymore.

    When I first smelled Tdh pure parfum from the cap I was like no way. After applying, it's became one of my top favorite fully totally classy super masculine cologne scents I own. And I noticed this review goes back 11yrs now and the pure parfum cost came way down and is about the same price now as the edt, so imho the pure parfum is worth the extra $5-$10 now to go with now.

    I’ve only smelled the EDT, but this review was spot on. Agree with everything here - masculine, classy/formal without being clean, a little bit on the mature side, masterfully done even though TdH isn’t my thing. Love Voyage d’Hermes though.

    Amazing fragrance! I have both the edt and the Parfum. My experience is that the Parfum has very low sillage/projection, and sit close to the skin. The Edt has better sillage and projection. It's more "airy". While the Edt has more air between the layers, the Parfum is a dense, thick mass with no air. As usual with fragrances, the first release (in this case the Edt) is the best! For many years I thought the Parfum was best because it was more expencive, but it isn't! I prefer the Edt. This is the original Terre as it was supposed to be, it's cheaper than the Parfum, and it has better projection. Easy choice! 👍

    I just got a sample of this stuff. I really like it. Reminds me a lot of He Wood. I described it to my friend as, A freshly sanded plank of cedar wood on the beach with a Mandarin orange spritzed on it. Then came to this video to see what you all thought. I like it.

    Enjoyed hearing y'alls take on TdH. I'm 27 and I wear it everyday. I don't even know what it smells like anymore; I just put it on (2-3 sprays) everyday. No one compliments me. No one says it's too much. I have no point of reference for how it smells. Haha.
    It was cool to hear what y'alls take.

  • @markstevenfuller
    @markstevenfuller 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm shocked that y'all don't smell much difference between the two. The top is much different to my senses, the pepper is absent so it's not punchy at all. Also the pure parfume lasts almost twice as long on me. The EDT lasts 4-5 hours and the pure parfume around 7-8 hours on my skin. Thanks for the great review.

  • @DavidJohnson-dk3bf

    lol very good guys, cheers for doing this.
    i tried them both and prefered the edp as i found it sweeter and stronger, so thats the one i bought, its actually one of my most complimented frags now, what i've found is that women like it or loath it, some women have told me i REEK when i've worn it and some women fall in love with me and wanna bang the crap out of me when i wear it.

  • @HelderOliveira-bl2xg
    @HelderOliveira-bl2xg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To me there's a big difference. The EDT is woodier while the EDP is earthier. The citrus notes are brighter and much less bitter on the EDT. The EDP is deeper while the EDT is airier. But the EDT bored me after a couple of years wearing it so I might give the EDP a try this time. I believe the EDT is perfectly fine for Spring and Summer while the EDP is more suited for the colder and darker days.

    • @espresso4eva
      @espresso4eva 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Filipe Oliveira The only thing I hate about EDP is bellow average projection. After the first hour it becomes almost s skin scent. The EDT projects much better. What do you think?

    • @HelderOliveira-bl2xg
      @HelderOliveira-bl2xg 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +espresso unfortunately the EDT doesn't seem to last on me. Don't know whether it's due to olfactory fatigue or not so I might buy the EDP this time and will be able to compare them performance wise.

    I agree with you guys totally about the beauty of it and the difficulty in being able to pull it off. I have a 100ml edt and as much as I love it, I've only gone through about 5ml in the year I've had it. I found an edp tester for slightly more than I paid for my edt, but I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a minute variation of the one I barely use.
    Great review as always, Bros!

    Great review! In my work I often have to sit in negotiations with different companies, signing deals of high values etc. This is the scent I choose for those negotiation meetings. It gives me the confidence just because it is manly matureness or what you should call it. Superb! It also layers extremely well with another Hermes fragrance, Eau de Gentiane Blanche.

    Are you 100% sure your TdH Parfum decant isn't actually regular TdH? They're two different scents. TdH Parfum has no vetiver or pepper, whereas original TdH has both. I find the two to be similar, but quite different. I strongly prefer TdH Parfum. The orange is more robust, the base is a bit sweeter, and the top is less dirty. I agree that TdH isn't a date scent, but TdH Parfum definitely can be.

    • @espresso4eva

  • @dasunder
    @dasunder 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wouldn't really wear this one either. It is well made but I have hard time seeing myself wearing a vetiver fragrance. Maybe when I get older. I am always reminded of Encre Noire when I smell this. Encre Noire is a smoky vetiver instead of a orangey vetiver. Both well made. Give it a try. I think vetiver is a note that grows on you. I suspect that is why vetiver frags may not get as many compliments.

    Why don't you update this review, since the EDT has been obviously reformulated and now it lasts 2-3 hours max, EDP a bit more but not even close to 10-12 hours stated in the old reviews. Today I've been to my local retail store and tried EDT (2x neck + 1x back of the head), now after 2 hours passed I can barely smell it on me, and I was even told that it was barely noticeable 1 hour ago. That makes it unsuitable for everyday office use, as I won't ever keep the second bottle, etc. But I like the scent so much... Will try EDP tomorrow.

    The other day a guy in his 40's passed by me and he was wearing the EDT I believe, awesome sillage and to me this how a classy man should smell like in my opinion. In fact, this fragrance should not be used everyday, only in special occasions where you want to send a clear message (not for dating btw, suited for business without a shadow of doubt)

    Hi bros, would you reckon Montale red vetyver is inferior to TDH? I've had Terre d'hermes edt and I liked it a lot but most people say that Red vetyver is even better so I'm considering buying one of these for Spring/Summer. Great job once again.

    • @FragranceBros
      @FragranceBros  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a review of Red Vetyver. It just depends on what you like. They are definitely similar, but they have differences.

    • @HelderOliveira-bl2xg
      @HelderOliveira-bl2xg 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fragrance Bros. I tried Tdh EDT once again but instead of making me wanna buy it I just got reminded why I got bored of it las year when I had a bottle. The drydown is completely boring and dull. On my skin it quickly lost all the initial sparkle from the cedar and the subtle citrus, which is why I love the opening, and turned very dry woody, as if it got badly washed off and consequently lost all its magic from the start. It's a pity cuz I was almost forgetting what got me bored of this in first place. In the same shop I finally managed to sample some Annick Goutal fragrances and really enjoyed Eau du Sud way more than Terre d'hermes. Maybe because it's more consistent from the opening til the end and it's such an unusual and equally classy fresh scent. I think I'll be getting that one instead. Thanks buds.

    I have tried several samples of Terre d Hermès and I'm confused by all the glowing reviews, because I can't stand this scent on paper or my skin. I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is but there is something rancid and chemical about the scent to my nose. I find it impossible to wear. I respect the expertise of all the reviewers who praise this fragrance so, I imagine the fault is with me. I asked my wife twice her opinion and she said "it's ok" but never "I like it". The dry down is a little better but I think that is because I can't really smell it as well. Definitely not for me.

      +Lawrence Todd I ordered a sample in a vial and I thought it was nothing special. But I kept reading that it takes time to understand this fragrance. So I transfered the juice into my atomizer and started using it. After several days I thought this was an extremely good scent. If I stayed only on smelling it on my wrist, I would have missed to experience and understand this fragrance.
      Another advice for those who are trying to discover the quality of this scent is: don't smell it directly, don't dive your nose into it, especially not after spraying it. Spray it once under your shirt or blouse and see what you think of the whiffs that you will be smelling. Reapeat that for a few days.

    Bros don't try to hard to make this frag better than what it is...you are absolutely right about the frag, you want to like it, but the dirtiness throws you for a loop. I want to like it too, but I can't see how it would be a good idea, you know what I mean. For "weird" I'll choose Chanel Allure Homme because at least it has sweetness in it and allows you to forget that it's a weird scent in the first place.

    Not to offend anyone, but this is how this smells to me. We have several fruit trees in my home, in the Caribbean, mostly citrics. One of them is a red grapefruit one. If you don't pick them on time, they fall to the floor, and after a few hot tropical days, they putrified, crack open and the fluids mix with the earth. Terre D'Hermes remids me of the scent you get when you pass near that tree............in other words, noooooo thank you.

    My uncle is a neurosurgeon, and he said that "He looks like he probably has a brain injury. Not something you should really be laughing at". I agree 100%, not funny at all.

    Terre D'Hermes is more Merde D'Hermes for me. There is something in it that makes me gag and nauseous. I tried so hard to wear it. Eventually, I sold my bottle :-(

      Wow, so I'm not the only one who thinks it should be "terrible de Hermes" thanks for your honesty. I was starting to feel a little awkward.

    everytime you do your fragrance bro intro I feel like you both are gonna start spinning with lightening in the background or something and turn into the voltron robot or something haha. I tell you I could never get into this fragrance. I don't care for the edt, and the edp made me sick. They remind me of some kind of cleaning agent.. maybe im just weird.
