In The History of Middle-Earth Part 3, it says that it's "likely" Gandalf visited ME earlier and spent time with both Men and Sindarin Elves (it doesn't specify what Age this was in the book). Christopher Tolkien notes that his father had yet to flesh this idea out. So, while he could be a Blue Wizard, I do think there's some creative license for it to be an earlier form of Gandalf.

Well of course it's going to be Gandalf. Between a blue wizard and Gandalf, which do you think Amazon thinks will draw more viewers in the coming seasons?

To answer your question: Galadriel is the Ring-Bearer for Nenya (the Ring of the Water, the silver one with the clear stone), Elrond gets Vilya (the Ring of the Air, the one with the blue stone) and the third Ring (Narya, Ring of the Fire with the red stone) first goes to Gil-Galad, then after his death to Círdan (He is among the elves a famous builder of the elvenships that sail to Valinor. He doesn't appear in the LotR-Movies and is only mentioned in the books) and Círdan later on gives Narya in secret to Gandalf.

Quick little correction. Gil-Galad receives Vilya and later gifts it to Elrond. Cirdan receives Narya and later gifts it to Mithrandir (Gandalf) when the Istari arrive in the 3rd Age. I'm curious how Gil-Galad will come to accept Galadriel receiving Nenya in the show since he seems to not like her very much.

Lots of folks in these comments are misleading you guys. Not that it really matters since this show is departing quite a bit from the established lore due to copyright limitations but the three ring bearers are initially Galadriel (Nenya-Ring of Water), Gil-Galad (Vilya-Ring of Air) and Cirdan (cast in season 2 receives Narya-Ring of Fire). Later in the 2nd age Gil-Galad will gift his ring to Elrond and in the 3rd age when the Istari arrive in Middle Earth, Cirdan will gift his ring to Gandalf. I'm curious if the show runners will stick to that aspect of the lore?

Celibrimbor had a ring, Elrond had a ring and Galadriel had the Mithril ring.....and when Sauron again came to power and the Istari first appeared in Middle Earth to contest his power....Celibrimbor gave his ring to Gandalf and said....With this ring reignite the fire in the hearts that grow cold.....for thy labors will be many and heavy...that is one reason Gandalf was so good with fire works...

The ring of fire Narya was originally worn by Cirdan, not Celebrimbor. And it was Cirdan who gave it to Gandalf upon his arrival in Middle Earth in the Third Age by ship at the Grey Havens.

Gents good video but alas, Mor"mazon" has equavalently sacked the literary Osgiliath equivalent of Professor Tolkien's lore and story with season one, it is a descration of "history of the elvish speaking tongues..Shall we now sit around the fire and muse sadly on Rings of Power? Our position, "Exsurge Tolkien" (published 25 March 22, and available for review on our channel), remains the most comprehensive analysis (and foreshadowed) of the Anti-Tolkien agenda of the ROP enterprise as declared by the showrunner's own words. We now see what the corporate machine theyocracy has wrought on Professor Tolkien's legacy: heresy, catastrophe, and disaster. Even the most ardent ROP supporters have weighed the show on the scales and found it wanting, "Auta i lóme" and "Aurë entuluva."

That's funny but the sad reality is, The power of the Rings is fading with each passing episode, as we all hear Treebeard's cry fused into the corporate machine theyocracy and their subordinates, "a wizard should know better." If you have lost heart or grown frustrated, join us for EXSURGE TOLKIEN as we continue to defend the counter perspective to this heresy. It is overwhelming that the showrunner's rather than desiring to respect Tolkien's Tales, yearned to be the 'lord and god' of their own "private sub-creation." Now is the hour for all phans to realize that this show does not glitter and is not gold, and return to the Valar, to the truth. "Auta i lóme!" and" Aurë entuluva."
