Your wife will thank you for helping get rid of muddy shoes. Very nice camera work Nate! Music is at the right cadence. What makes this video so good is the crisp progression, and complete coverage of all aspects of the driveway project. It really brings an appreciation for the work and the art associated with laying down asphalt.

A well graveled drive should never be muddy.
In rain the quarter minus dust should flow under the actual gravel and if it doesn't you don't have enough real gravel.

Highlights......CHALK ART!........Rusty and toys.........the need for a packed gravel bed, a secondary packed gravel with bitumen in it before final hot coat and rolling. Great addition to the home! good overall video time lapse of the task. keep up the good work! Darrell

Very nice driveway. We have a asphalt drive that we have never maintained and it is showing the sign of wear. I believe that with asphalt driveway you need place a asphalt sealer or coating on it to preserve it because the asphalt will leech out causing the driveway to crack and crumble; like ours did.

I do asphalt. Ultimately, 90% of asphalt is what the base is like. Not having a go. They did a good job, but if the asphalt isn't supported by the base, it will fall apart. Spreading 1" of asphalt profilings ontop of existing won't correct issues with the base.
If you have a small normal drive way, just get concrete. Will last so much longer, and no maintenance.
This is a large drive way. The economics swing to asphalt with large driveways.
Things that can improve to ensure you get long lasting quality asphalt. Have subsoil drains if required.
Mix in cement in soft areas
Consider using fiberglass reinforcement road mat that goes between the base and the asphalt.

Someone tell the guy in the white tee running the right hand of screed at the beginning that spray down of paver is done after the paving is complete 😂

About how much did this cost? I have a relative who would benefit from converting her now gravel driveway to asphalt, and the dimensions appear very similar.

It may just be the camera, but that mix looks dry. Was there a reason for a lower liquid asphalt mix design ?

Also, they really should have put you a shoulder wedge, especially with the thickness. Both of these comments are meant to be helpful, not critical. I work in highway/heavy civil construction in the south. Love you guys channel(s). Keep up the good work!

Not exactly a straight edge along the grass, what's with that? Maybe it was just the camera angle.

    • @vadjrob
      @vadjrob 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Do you have children? Have you reminded them that they can take their mask off upon arrival home EVERY day for over half a school year already? Have you treated their faces for chapping or mask sores? Have you pondered effects on their health and development due to restricted and recirculated breaths for consecutive hours every week day? Have you questioned yourself continually on whether it’s more beneficial to them to go to school and receive the support of your income or to receive homeschooling and lose it? Has it hurt your heart to think about all the times they needed help or attention and missed it at school because a confused, scared, or hurt expression remained unseen under a mask? It’s even easier to let your tone slip when affected by a continuous sensitive issue concerning the lives you live to protect and serve than it is to casually pass judgement on a TH-cam comment. How much should we bet he revisited the issue after editing this video for release? If he’s not the type of man who is strong enough to apologize to his child if he ever feels he wrongs them, I’m not sure who would be.
Some things that stuck with me were: the children having been raised with enough carefulness and awareness to not rush right out onto their exciting new driveway ~the preschool aged son playing so happily and being featured several times by a proud father ~the obvious effort of a father to ensure his children immediately reaped the rewards of this project he worked hard to be able to afford them ~how much more impressive the installation looked when wearing the children’s artwork...
A parent that puts obvious effort into including their children whenever possible, finds opportunities to teach around every corner, and makes it a point to provide sidewalk chalk to stimulate free expression is a precious one. They’re all too often in short supply.
If I misinterpreted your off the cuff comment, I apologize. This diatribe is meant to serve as a reminder to recognize the good in people to anyone who sees it... not to lambaste the person whose comment I replied to. We’d all be better served if we focused on and remembered the good we encounter. *steps off soapbox while hanging his head in shame for bringing attention to negativity*
