This is very tricky as I don't have access to a data center instance of Jira. . . and I can't get access to server since I don't think Atlassian lets you download server anymore.
Hi Alex, thank you for sharing this information for a cloud-to-cloud migration. Do you have a video that shows a server-to-cloud migration? I do have a specific question. My first test project to migrate was from a test server instance to my sandbox Jira Cloud site. Mostly the migration went well. However, in the end, we encountered a situation where the JCMA app in the server continues to run, and it is attempting to migrate app data. The app data the server plugin is trying to migrate is for plugins we did not have installed in our Cloud sandbox site. After discovering this problem, we installed the apps, but the server plugin continues to run, and we need help to stop it. Can you provide any recommendations to kill the plugin in our test instance? Thanks again for your videos.
Hi I've followed the steps but I am getting the grayed out destination field option. I am org & site admin in both sites however I cannot continue with the migration because of that... any suggestion?
If that destination is grayed out. . . it means you aren't the ORG admin. Double check. The Migration assistant is very specific here. You must have the correct privilege.
Hi Alex, Currently we are using jira on-prem 8.13 version we are planning to migrate it to atlassian jira cloud in the month of December, Now my doubt can we try the trail of migration which is users and some dummy project which are existing in our jira on-prem now can we migrate it to cloud ?? Here we haven't buyed the cloud license yet. Just we are taking a trail to migrate some users and dummy project is it possible?? If yes, pls let me know how can we achieve this trail. Thanks in advance
If you do your planning and follow the rules laid out by Atlassian, you should be fine. But, when I did do my migrations, I encountered an issue where something didn't migrate. I ran a new migration with just the failed items and it worked the second time.

Do we need to first migrate the plugin and then project data or the sequence doesn't matter ?
I believe Atlassian gives you order. The plugin should be enabled and then I think the migration assistant takes care of the rest.

Thank you so much. Good explanation of high level Jira migration. Any specific issues will occur while doing this migration?
