I've been watching your series from the beginning. Starting your city with an industrial district is makes your city unique among builders out there and provides many opportunities for nice piece usage as evident with your designs. Your attention to detail is top notch especially the piping and details under the overhang in this latest building. Looking forward to seeing your city grow!
So am I. I've found it hard looking forward to the next fascinating video you'll be posting, the layout is so incredibly original. Thanks for sharing such an amazing experience. 😲👍
Please do a behind the scenes sometime. I would love to see how you pull this off! Also, I love how you mimic the slight color mismatch of real bricks, like in the pipe 1:53.
cool, you noticed that! I did add some very minor color permutations to make it look like the slight variations in color you get with real bricks. I do have a behind the scenes video coming soon. Just haven't had the time. But a script is made now, so I just have to make and edit the video.
The concept of a digital Lego city is genuinely eye opening and inspiring but your attention to detail, technique and aesthetic takes this to another level imo.
Every time I watch one of these videos, I'm more impressed. I am excited to see how you make a nicer portion of a city, but gosh this grungy, industrial stuff is not as common in large scale lego building, so it's really cool!
I absolutely love your videos. And every time I see one, I have trouble accepting the fact it's digital. You are a very talented builder and 3D modeler.
Out of all the Lego creators I’ve watched in my lifetime building cities, you’re the person who aims for the amount of detail in your builds and that’s what makes you really different from all the Lego city creators. Keep up the good work with your city.😀
I've decided I'm going to build two apocalyptic/cyberpunk dioramas that will occupy two shelves in my office, and I'm definitely going to use builds such as this factory for inspiration. Love this series so much!
Currently playing GTA 4. Its really nice to see these kind of buildings in a videogame and also see the parallels to your legoworld. I just love the industrial urban setting.
i love the little pieces scattered around. What you could do is add a bin filled with same lego pieces to add more realism. what i see from most city/moc builders.
Watched a couple of videos before this, but just realized it was digital 😂 I even watched the trainvideo and thought it was a transition between render and reality 😅 Great work! 🤩
I love the shirts hanging from the balconies and the sight lines that highlight the piping on the plastics plant! If I could make a suggestion I would absolutely love to see an elevated railroad control box of some sort if you install any track switches -I think it can add some verticality and interest to the railroad level without being too big or distracting. Keep up the great work
I like the artificial lighting, like this is an actual model. But I would love to see this under various natural lighting conditions, maybe some HDRI’s or Nishita sky textures.
interesting. For my lego renders, I sometimes build under a HDRI, but the HDRI is a room with natural light, ie one with large windows. PolyHeven's Old room. I do it so I get to see reflections better. Still looks like models though, to get the Lego movie kind of look, I'll have to change the scale.
Looks really good. One thing for the supports on the harbor side. They look a little “thin”. So either could use more of those column pieces or brick build thicker ones.
Looks marvelous, with the exception be the roof of the factory. There are no visible gaps like you would have when this is tiled (which it's supposed to be?). But all the pipes and tanks and machinery... super cool!
thanks for the comment! yeah, for the roof I was experimenting with a low poly version for performance reasons. But you are right, it looks ok a far but off up close.
Idea for that area in the middle of all the hustle and bustle I think it would be the perfect spot for a hole that’s open to the train line underneath, we can say that there was a heavy truck that came in and broke through the concrete because of some water damage from a leaking pipe and now the repair crew is fixing up the sinkhole.
It would make sense that there were trucks going around that area because there are truck ports In the other building there so they would need all the space they could get to turn around.
that's a great idea. thanks. Since the video I've already started working on it. I've put in something "similar" . It's not a sink hole, but it is a hole. I've actually put in a disused end stub of a canal. The canal to this factory was underground and at the stub end, it opens up to unload cargo via a crane. Since the canal is not used anymore, the some parts of it are "patched" up to give more space to trucks.
@ thanks for responding to my comment though! Can’t wait to see the out come. Little thing that I have thought is a street running train track not for trams but for my actual trains, and the best bart is that it’s sitting right in my room!
I was gonna type that I think maybe it's too much factory, but dangit this is a great looking build! The open area is so detailed and cool. You really found a way to make a sad factory place interesting and look absolutely stunning in blenderlego :b
1:41 I appreciate that you bumped against the virtual camera when taking these stop-motion shots. Kinda expecting the reveal one day that this was all real after all...
thanks! Maybe at some point I'll put something...the main thing is most of my buildings are split in separate .io files for performance reasons, which are then 'combined' in Blender for the final renders. So I'll have to combine them and stuff.
The new additions brings so much more life to the space. The lounge space with the drying of the clothes on the building feels likes it is in very hot working conditions. I am curious of the pipe that runs into the ladder structure. Is something supposed to come out the pipe at the top? It would feel like if that is the case it would pour down on the workers using the ladder. Your window planning with using different color frames is so well thought through. Old and beat up with some windows busted out.
thanks for the comment! haha, the pipe that runs into the ladder structure was something I did just to make the pipe disappear. I was thinking of having it bend and exit over on the other side but I forgot about it...
I was wondering how you handle the rendering process, do you have a beefy rig and/or a lot of spare time or do you use render farms? How much time/money does it take on avg per episode?
hi, I have a 3090, which helps. No render farms, just let it render at night and sometimes during the day. Takes 2 weeks or more for rendering per eps though. That depends on the length of the video and if I find render errors and have to re-render...which is a pain.
One building you should make like a fish Can one side of the building is the manufacturer side has like the skywalk thing going to cross the tracks to the warehouse with a dock for trucks and trains to load up put the train tracks in like a old style brick road and the part that goes over the train tracks you can put a convertible belt in there cast of moving back and forth inside
thanks for the comment! I really like the idea of a skywalk or even a conveyor belt for bulk cargo. A lot of old factories have skywalks or overhead passages connecting buildings together. interesting!
I want to build other parts soon. Just for a change of pace instead of building run down factories. I think I will build a restaurant next...or maybe after I finish the courtyard.
Hey, TH-cam recently added an auto-translate feature to descriptions and titles, and added auto-generated dubs. Might want to turn these off, for some reason they're enabled by default after a recent update
I'm not sure if the mini figs come in the skin color I've used. The prints are real. But I'm just not sure if the they come on those specific skin tones.
oh, my voice is real. i think I had auto-dubbing on. it's some YT setting. I turned it off so you can hear my own voice (english) but there are translations as captions.
Every video you post, I question more and more, if this is really digital, or instead, in the basement of your home, you're some dude with a bunch of money to invest in massive Lego stock, and you're actually building an incredibly massive and amazing city and fooling all of us into thinking it's just some incredible rendered city done on an app... Hmm.
Perfect TH-cam refresh

I love the POV shots, it’s fun finding things you can easily do in your virtual city that would be harder in a physical model
thanks! yeah, I especially like I can easily change the focal length and aperture without physically changing lenses...
Truly the coolest Lego MOC on the internet

best youtube series ever!

Would love to see any one of these buildings made with real bricks - they are amazing, very inspiring 👏🏼👏🏼
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize this wasn’t a real layout, great job!
This is truly amazing! I saw the title and description but was still questioning if it was real during some shots!
thanks!
The amount of detail in this is absolutely beautiful! Everything is so well thought out and everything. This is a gorgeous piece of art.
thanks!
Finished plastic is usually shipped as pellets in covered hopper cars. Maybe the tunnel is where the hoppers get loaded
hmm. yeah, it could be. I'm also building a covered loading area over the courtyard that does the loading too. It's that grey shed like building.
I love how photorealistic 3D computer graphics have become.
oh my god you are talented. definitelly worth a follow. i think you will go viral one day
It is very easy to forget you are not looking at physical lego. Well done.
thanks!
like that realistic look, something completely different from all those childish lego cities
As usual looking amaizing with the level of detail.

Realy cool idea to integrate the tanks into the middle of the factory

haha, yeah that'll be kind a interesting to see the pieces...
When your done, you should figure out a way to get a quote for all the bricks you used on bricklink.
