Black Friday. The day you pick up the movies you don't want, but need for your collection. I totally agree with you when it comes to new movies. They have gotten so HD, clean, and full of CG that they feel sterile and souless. Things like practical effects in horror and sci fi movies, and hand drawn animation in animated movies take too much time and money compared to just using CG for everything. I really feel that there has to be some sort of movie making "renaissance" coming soon where new independent film makers start going back to older practices on purpose to give a "warmer" less sterile look and feel to movies again.
I think the “cleanness” is a big factor for me. I miss seeing film grain and I miss slower editing. I also think the art of filmmaking and storytelling is being slowly lost. But it’s getting better.
The older i get the older the movies I swing to like I'm 24 and I watch more films from 1930s to the mid 1980s and when I was younger I watched movies from the 1990s and newer movies
Great pick ups. I did ps4 haul this black Friday so skipped movies other then picking up a used copy of Uncle Buck on eBay. Definitely love me some sly flicks, lock up and over the top are my favs
I recently bought the Star Wars OT and PT box sets from Best Buy. They were 27 bucks each the week after Black Friday. I already owned them but I got them for gifts for my brother and sister. Bro gets the blu-rays (because he cares) and sis gets the DVDs (because she doesn't). I'm currently watching them for the heck of it. They were factory sealed of course. The ANH DVD had fingerprint smudges on it.
I love hearing your opinion on films! Cate Blanchett is the epitome of cool in Oceans 8. I love Murder on the Orient Express, that movie has a lot of style and it was nice to see Johnny Depp in that role. Agree with you about Warner's DC. Who doesn't love Hidden Figures? I like La La Land except for the ending, I know it's more realistic but that's not why I watch musicals 😊
I don't recall there being anything in this video that I actively didn't like. Most of them were films I haven't seen. I did mention that I don't love Kong: Skull Island, but I don't think it's bad, just not as good as it could have been. I have very low expectations for some of them (Justice League, Ferdinand), but I may end up impressed with them. I also think it's important to revisit my past opinions and see if they hold up or if I formed those opinions hastily and under circumstances that have nothing to do with the movie itself. As you may have gathered from this video, sometimes I approach modern studio big-budget movies with a bit of a chip on my shoulder, and I'm constantly fighting against that. This video is evidence of that because I started it with a chip on my shoulder and then struggled to overcome that and be more open and optimistic. I could (and do) enjoy things more when I allow myself to do so.
Cereal At Midnight , touché. Myself, I love movies. Even if critics and reviewers are downing them, I like most of the movies that get bad reviews. I just like the entertainment aspect of it. The only movie I have that I will not watch again is Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler. I just can’t. Lol, but I love your videos and getting your opinions on them and collecting.
Jack and Jill! I can't remember if I watched that or not. I think I avoided it. Yeah, critic's opinions mean very little to me, and I usually like to discover things for myself. While I'm not a fan of the argument "turn your brain off and just enjoy yourself," I can and do connect with low budget films. Usually, I'm looking for some connection to the creator of a movie. Sometimes it's hard to find it because there are too many cooks in the kitchen, but occasionally, I actually can see the enthusiasm and passion of the director of a movie present on the screen. You can see their fingerprints.
I scored on Facebook market place. Got 270 movies for $100 ($70 USD) thats about 35 cents a movie! Hauled Bad Boys I and II, Mission Impossible III, The Machinist, XXX: The Next Level, How I Met your Mother seasons 1-5, Mr. Deeds, Taken 1 + 2, Fight Club, The Other Guys, Braveheart, Apocalypto, Clerks II, Saw 1 + 2, Casino Royale, Coach Carter, Field of Dreams, Mr and Mrs. Smith, Iron Man 2, The Dark Knight Rises, The Mummy Returns, Little Man, Longest Yard, Bulletproof, Salt, Limitless, Catwoman, The Grey, Behind Enemy Lines, The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, The Aviator, Walking Tall, School of Rock, Mallrats, No Country for Old Men, 21 Jump Street, The Hunger Games, Sherlock Holmes, Men in Black III, G.I Joe I + II, The Bone Collector, Shooter, The Patriot, Gladiator, Remember the Titans... Okay I'm gotta stop there... Over the moon with this one though. Loves a bargain!
Ok well you’re missing out on some great looking movies with HDR. As well as the audio is usually better with Dolby Atmos. You need to at least get you a 4K tv man. Great videos though. I own 290 4K titles, 132 3D blu rays, 2584 blu rays, 3218 on DVD, and 1825 digital only titles. I own just over 6000 titles on Vudu so you could say I have way too many movies in my collection. Keep up the good work.
Phew! That is quite a Black Friday haul. Your holiday week (month?) viewing queue is locked and loaded. A bit more reserved here, picked up a trio of Powerhouse’s (amazing) Harryhausen/Hammer boxed sets for half-price and a a few MOD multi-disc sets from Warner Archives that I had been waiting to drop in price (Go, Mighty Orbots!). Seems patience really is a virtue...
@@CerealAtMidnight Of course. They were direct from powerhousefilms.co.uk I’ve ordered from them in the past and they are usually pretty careful with their packaging for shipping, so I felt it was worth rolling the dice (I’m OCD-level obsessed over package condition). Unfortunately, they’re back up to full price, but they might knock ’em down again before Santa makes his rounds. Maybe sign up for their e-newsletter to stay in the loop. I’ll give you a shout if I see them run another sale.
I actually am already signed up for powerhouse’s mailing list, so I’m wondering why I didn’t hear about this. Hmmmm. Have to check my spam folder. Thanks!
I watch movies more than once. Maybe always not within a year, or 18 months, but if I can grab a movie for 6 or 8 dollars and add it to my collection, it will more than pay for itself in the long run. If I don't like it, I can sell it or give it away. Ownership comes with equity.
I’m pushing 40. And I’ve been on a huge anime kick myself. Lifelong fan and I totally understand going through the drought phases. However they have been releasing some amazing older things on Blu-ray lately. If you have never seen it. I highly recommend robot carnival.
Good pick ups, Black Friday is the time to pick up things that are not really Day One buys. BR 2049 was directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival). It's a slow burn with amazing visuals. Villeneuve had an interview talking about wanting to reboot the Dune movie from the 80's. Have you seen the David Lynch Dune movie?
Wow great haul I had to watch this twice and make notes. First things first most of the movies you bought are on my list or I’ve watched. I would have picked Murder on the Orient Express first too. I bought and watched the ’74 version over the summer and loved it. I assume the new one is great too. Baby driver is amazing. I watched it twice and have the sound track (I am listening to Neat, neat, neat right now). It’s that good. Scott Pilgrim is the best. It sums up so many great things, music, anime, comics, video games, Canada! I have the books too and even bought them for a friend just yesterday for Christmas. Damn I realized I have the soundtrack for it too and I bet I have watched the “Battle of the bands” scene so many times I can no longer count it. Even Michael Cera as Scott was a perfect fit. Jurassic World pt. 2 is good. Saw it in the theatre. The end I liked. It was kinda long but my whole family liked it. Though there is one teary eyed part. I still have not seen any of the DCU movies. I probably should but Wonder Woman aside no one has said anything great of them and movie watching time is too precious to waste. I think you’re being too hard on Nolan. I have the same opinion on his Batman movies (begins is my favorite). But I like Inception and Dunkirk is at the top of my list to watch. Let me know how the Pacific is. Band of brothers was weekly viewing with my roommates and we missed episode 7 (battle of the Bulge) and made a pact not to watch it unless we were all together which took over a year to do (we had to rent it from BB on VHS). I know what you mean about Reverant I do want to watch it, but knowing what is going to happen, yeah I just have to psych myself up for it or be in the right mood. I always feel Stephen King writes like a 9th grade paper. The start is awesome and so much effort and ideas are there, but then you realize you haven’t worked on it for a week and it’s due tomorrow so you half ass that ending. I love him as a writer and usually just stick to his short stories. Oddly enough I haven’t watched Blade Runner 2049. I meant to see it in theatre and now I want to watch the first one before I watch 2049 and I don’t have time right now for 5 hours of film. I am a big fan of Lego big enough that in the event you don’t see me for a bit I’ve probably lapsed back into a Lego phase (my friends have even called me the man upstairs). I do like the animation style as I enjoy the idea that it’s all done as “Lego” even the sky. That’s me, but for the record I can’t play FPS games as I will get motion sick from it. So I can understand why the Lego movies affects you. Last yes Slayers! I just, just watched the first episode last week on crunchy roll and it’s totally in my wheelhouse of 80-90s anime. BTW Patlabor is best if you can get the new box set that came out this week on the cheap you should buy it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on all these movies! I'm really looking forward to starting Slayers. I've got a really weird anime I'm trying to wrap up (which I guess I'll talk about in the video whenever I make it), and I also have the first OVA seven-episode series of Patlabor in the stack waiting to watch. I watched Lego Flash this morning and thought it was just really fun and simple and silly and kind of sweet. Reminded me of an old Super Friends episode or something along those lines. I may have to track more of these direct to video Lego movies down.
The lego super hero shows are great. Sorry for the long rant the system was down at work and I had time to write. All those movies just hit the sweet spot. I’m excited to see the anime but take your time I’ll be watching slayers in my free time.
I also picked up Murder on the Orient Express, haven't watched yet, but really looking forward to seeing it. Kong: Skull Island was fun even if it wasn't a great movie. Sometimes I like watching movies that you can just check your brain in at the door.
Doctor Strange definitely too a lot of the visual look of Inception. The whole “world unfolding” visual was done in Inception first, so you were onto something.
@@CerealAtMidnight so man, you`ll like it! not sure if you know or not, firstly you probably know he play`s king Kong in Peter Jackson`s King Kong, but he always plays the cook on the ship
Dude! That MVD sale was amazing! I got my order in last night, so yours should be there soon , if not already there. I picked up lionheart, black eagle and walking tall
It's weird, because I finally got a shipping notification on Tuesday, but there's no tracking information anywhere and it still says "we are preparing your order" even though the title of the email is "A shipment is on the way." It's now been 9 days since I placed the order and I'm getting antsy!
That is weird. It’s kinda funny... I didn’t receive any emails or anything saying it was shipped or anything and it was waiting for me when I got home yesterday.
I like the fact that you give your honest opinions, we're heading at ultra speed to a world where no one is allowed to have a dissonant voice, or he or she is stoned to death on social media. And for the record I agreed with most of what you said, not that we have to agree on everything to have a substantial debate
Man, I get PISSED when I miss these sales! I followed you on Twitter to assure I don’t miss the next MVD and Kino sales in particular. I scored big on Severin and Vinegar Syndrome, so I was plenty happy about that! Especially snagging the Mausoleum blu with the super cool slipcase...I was actually shocked to see it revealed as the Black Friday surprise release, as well as The Children. Nice pick-ups man! I like the way that you are more than a horror/sci-fi fan, because I am too...do yourselves a favor, block out some time in your schedule, and WATCH one or two of the non-genre films he shows: you so t be disappointed.
Most of them were fine. I don’t recall really loving any of them. We have a whole series dedicated to reviews and we get pretty in-depth! Lots of deep cuts. Here’s a link to the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLms82QIo-B9lRcLxfHj1KIkn23xZc0Cdy.html
Hi H patsy here could u help me there was a Tv series 1979 called the concrete cowboys staring jerry reed 7 episodes plus pilot can it b got anywhere keep up the super work
You’ve asked this before, haven’t you? The movie is floating around on several low quality DVD collections, as I believe it’s in the public domain. As far as the series, it never got a DVD release. TH-cam is probably your best bet.
Woah woah woah, The Lorax is an incredible movie. I will admit it would have been a lot better if they did it live action like the Jim Carrey Grinch movie and the Mike Myers Cat In The Hat Movie. Think about it, Danny DeVito painted orange with a big ass mustache while he sprouts out from a tree stump.
I do collection tours, but those are currently exclusive for my Patreon community. I’ve done an hour long look at my movie collection (part one) and a separate comic collection video for my Patreon supporters. This month I’m doing a record collecting video and part 2 of my movie collection. I also do audio commentaries for movies. So far I’ve done Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Batman (1989)!
To me, Hugh Jackmans tour smacked of desperation. I just thought it was a strange choice for him to make; maybe it was a bad idea from a bad agent or something
It was a huge success both commercially and critically, with dates selling out in minutes, and with both critics and fans calling it the renaissance of a style of entertainment that had died out for a couple of decades. I think at his heart, Hugh Jackman is a song and dance man, and it may be the thing that most closely represents who he really is. He's a Vaudeville kind of guy at heart.
Great pickups! Alot of the movies you picked up I enjoyed. Tomb raider is one that I was surprised about and enjoyed more then the orignal. I love black Friday to dive in the films I was on the fence with. I picked up around 60 titles this year.
I'm amazed by how many movies you buy that you haven't seen, or in some cases you admit to not liking them very much. Even if they're cheap, wouldn't you rather not buy 4 questionably good movies for $5 each and spend $20 instead on a verified classic or perhaps an oddity that isn't available on any streaming service?
99 percent of the titles I buy aren't on streaming. I spend most of my time on this channel championing movies that aren't on streaming. In the last month alone, I've covered The Street Fighter collection from Shout Factory, the Sister Street Fighter Collection from Arrow, Mill Creek's retro VHS line (Sheena, Neighbors, Songwriter, and The Legend of Billie Jean), Spider Baby and Pit Stop (also from Arrow), and a box of Dario Argento and Sharon Tate films. Your comment must be referring to this single video from last Black Friday, in which I took a gamble on some big budget modern titles (which aren't always my thing), but I don't regret picking any of them up. Let's be clear, I was buying movies for around the standard rental cost, or not much more. That gave me the freedom to not have to worry about rental windows, and my purchases have equity, meaning I can trade, sell, or gift things that didn't impress me. But again, I've enjoyed them all, to some degree. Also, what about my other Black Friday videos, like my MVD Rewind collection haul? We champion cult and underground cinema here, but I also think there's a place to talk about the big studio releases, from time to time.
@@CerealAtMidnight Hey, fair enough! I just watched your Street fighter video, which was great. You really do seem to buy a lot if everything, which is very impressive. I just wouldn't be able to afford even a fraction of it. While I can understand buying a movie for the same price as you could rent it on Amazon, there are certain titles that just aren't worth paying the money to see in the first place.
Even though I got Justice League FOR FREE in a trade that someone brought into my store, I STILL could not bring myself to WATCH it, and I SOLD it pretty quickly. Yes, I am THAT offended by the WB DC films. Zach Snyder leaving, albeit under very sad circumstances, was THE step in the right direction. I am cautiously optimistic about Aquaman, though I am not thrilled with the radical casting in Jason Mamoa. He LOOKS cool, if not a bit over-designed, but to me, Aquaman will always be the blonde guy with the simplified costume. Time will tell.....
I love Aquaman as a character. I have something like four entire volumes of his comics going all the way back to the mid-eighties. Even if the new movie is fantastic and captures the spirit of the character, they’ve taken such a radical departure with his appearance that I simply can’t see him as Aquaman. I have no idea what they were thinking.
Heath, I'm absolutely loving MVD these days but I'm sooo Disappointed I did not see their amazing deals for Black Friday! I missed out on about six Rewind Collection blu's I needed. I feel empty inside since I missed out... I didn't even know about this huge sale until the day it ended. Ouch.
You gotta follow me on Twitter! The sale actually went live Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which is when I placed my order and let everyone know about it.
@@CerealAtMidnight I know, I think I might even have a Twitter (deleted Facebook recently; yeah, I'm on that train...). I'll at least stay tuned to your site.
Best picks in my opinion are La La Land and Blade Runner 2049. Top notch stuff. As for good American animated movies outside of Disney, I thought Dreamworks hit it out of the park with How to Train Your Dragon a few years ago...
I reluctantly picked up Jurassic World on blu-Ray for $3. Good price, but it's a tough one but if I ever want to watch it again it's paid for itself. It's tough because even though it's cheap, Its still an investment in space, minimal as it is but it becomes cumulative and I'd rather put my money towards other titles I really want. I don't know if there is a price I could get JW2 for that would be ok with me. I rank the Jurassic series: Jurassic Park Jurassic Park 3 Lost World Jurassic World Jurassic World 2
I believe I agree entirely with your ranking. I might flip Lost World and Jurassic World, just because Jurassic World has Bryce Dallas Howard, but I do agree that Jurassic World 2 is an all-time low for the franchise.
There are plenty of people that have the same view of Inception as I do. Some of them have even posted as much in the comments of this very video. And I don’t hate Inception, I just think it’s too self-important, overlong, and thinks it’s far more clever than it actually is. I also disapprove of several of that casting decisions. I do not think Leonardo DiCaprio has leading man charisma (remember, he and I are the same age and I’ve been watching him for 25 years), and I’m surprised every time he gets cast as such. I believe Joseph Gordon Levitt should have been the Leo character and Leo should have been the JGL character. It’s all just my personal opinion. My wife really likes the movie. Also, weird statement for you to tell me “don’t hate the movie just because you claim to not like Nolan.” As if I’m claiming something that don’t actually believe and as if I’m so shallow that I would write something off because of one person. I wouldn’t, and if I can’t be honest about my opinions on my own TH-cam channel, something is wrong.
I don’t think you really mean you don’t like modern movies, you’re right about most mainstream films but there’s so many smaller budget ones out there that are absolutely brilliant. Besides, most classics from the 50’s and before were made ‘by a committee’
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom turned out to be better then I expected. We took the kids and expected fluff but we left thinking about what could happen with genetic editing. If you love conspiracy theories this movie will spark some fun conversations about it.
Secret Life of Pets was meh, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, both of those were cute, so were both Rios if we are talking non-Disney animation. Not ~fantastic~, but entertaining for what they were. Angry Birds was... :/ about 2/5, maybe...ish Glad I could check it out from the library, all I'm sayin'. I need to watch the Paddington movies, speaking of animation, also. I also still need to watch Incredibles 2, but that's Pixar.
Haha my opinion verbatim on Jurassic world, I have 0 desire to watch it but picked it up for like $5 on black Friday, not that I think it's going to be bad, I just couldnt care less about it. I'm hoping and praying so hard that DC turns it around, fingers crossed for the Aquaman movie!
Yeah! I know Jurassic World: The Kingdom Fell Down isn't going to be BAD, it's just going to be...fine. So many movies being made now are completely uninspiring to me. I watch them and I've forgotten them five minutes later. I don't feel like it's always been that way.
@@CerealAtMidnight I would completely agree. These types of movies are cool to watch with my 'normy' friends who just like exciting CGI montages on a weekend with a my 4k/atmos set up (nothing wrong with that for what its worth), however I'd prefer to sit down and watch blood simple any day of the week. I think the art in film making is harder to find these days, though the 'art' of money making seems to be alive an well.
Re. animated movies... no love for Train Your Dragon ? Kung Fu Panda ? The Despicable films ? Love Disney and Pixar... but Dreamworks puts out some good stuff, IMHO. Picked up RPO on BF for $6. Certainly not as good as the book. But I want to freeze frame my way through the film for all of the pop culture references. Oh, and I enjoy the big dumb dino movies. Both of the JW movies entertained me.
i like a lot of the movies in the haul, well the fairly decent titles i saw murder on the orient express, and i thought it was rather fun deadpool, is kinda the superhero equivelant of die hard, both deadpool 1 and 2, do have enjoyable moments yet i dont susbcribe to the whole notion of reynolds yelling profanity in these films i prefer reynolds in more family friendly comedies like definately maybe and the proposal, overall, the action in those films are decent, but the language is Not
So... Many... Controversial... Statements... I can't, i just can't 😜 Band of Brothers exist in the tin case, too bad you couldn't get it. The Pacific is fine, but pale in comparison to BoB
Loved the video, loved the snark, loved the honest opinions! I’m actually mostly with you on Christopher Nolan. I think Inception and Memento are amazing, but other than that I think he makes movies that aren’t half as smart or important as he thinks they are. And his fan base will drive you crazy. As always, love how much of a individual you always are!
I am 44 and I am not afraid to say that I am a new huge fan of Zach Efron. He changes it up all the time and is not afraid to risk looking like a dumb-ass. That being said, he is currently making a movie where he is playing Ted Bundy. Search it out a little here on TH-cam.... he has transformed into Bundy and it is creepy.
Wow! You got a lot of good bargains! Always worth picking up films and shows your not sure of when they are cheap. I mostly get the modern movies in the sales. Unless it's a film I really want to see. Now all you need is to find time to watch them. My pile of discs to watch keep getting bigger. I'm sure the holiday season will give me some time to catch up on the viewings. Oh no, Opinions! haha But It's good that you want to be more honest with your opinions. They are yours thoughts. And yeah the DCCU films have been pretty poor. I think we were spoiled with how good the DC animated universe was with Batman Animated series right up to Justice League Unlimited. And i enjoyed Suicide Squad a lot more than i thought i would. yeah it's not the best film in the world. but i think where i have such low expectations of it and when i watched it, I enjoyed it more than i thought I would. haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets bugged when the covers of the discs are crooked or not centred correct. And cool. Look forward to the anime video. Was into it late 80s till about mid 2000s. So I'm a bit rusty on my knowledge now. Still got a good few titles on DVD from must be 2 decades ago. Never upgraded to blu ray for any I think.
TH-cam is a weird place for opinions because some viewers tend to want whoever they're watching to mirror their own opinions 100 percent, and if there's deviation, they almost seem to take it as an insult and can get very upset. They don't see it as an opportunity for a conversation, they just take it personally. I guess I understand it. If you're watching someone and you like them and you've locked in on them, it can be disappointing to see that you're not as alike as you thought. But I gotta be me, I gotta be honest, and this is still very much a safe place for differing opinions and conversations. I've already had to delete some comments on this video from people who can't express themselves without being insulting.
@@CerealAtMidnight Yeah, Some people take someone's personal opinions as a personal attack sometimes. Which I find odd. But like you sometimes I can see some of there points. Especially if you are passionate about a certain subject. And maybe sometimes it may come across how we read it in our head for comments? as it's different in a one to one conversation if you get what I mean? Hearing something in our own head and we can interpret sometimes how it's not meant to be interpreted. Like when my dyslexia was bad I couldn't express things they way I wanted. Thankfully I got a little better. I'm sure you will have different opinions to some stuff I do. And that fine. Always good to hear other peoples take on things. That's how we can grow. Trying to look at things from a different perspective. Nobodies right or wrong. Besides ever since i was a kid i've like the less mainstream films, tv shows, music etc... So I guess I'm used to people not liking everything I like. But always find common ground.
Sorry to blow up your comment section, but Blade Runner 2049, in my terribly humble opinion, in an absolute, modern day CLASSIC. MY GOD, I LOVED IT!!! And Stephen King: how is it,that in this hyper PC world, SK gets a major PASS in regard to IT. Let’s face it, there is a pre-teen GANGBANG going on....
The WB DC movies are not that great. But I do like the story arc of Superman being worshipped as a god like figure. Its a realistic view on how ordinary people would treat someone like Superman.
I feel completely the opposite of you re: WB/DC films. I feel like the first two Nolan Batman films are near-perfection. And I don't need to defend Batman v Superman (I didn't care for Wonder Woman nor Suicide Squad) but I will anyway out of sheer love. BvS Ultimate is near-perfect on a different spectrum to the Dark Knight trilogy; more comic booky.
We actually agree on Nolan's first two Batman films, which I think are very good, though I do believe The Dark Knight taught him all the wrong lessons. And you don't need to defend anything from me, your opinion is just as valid as mine. Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice Ultimate version completely lost me when they bumped off Jimmy Olsen in the first 15 minutes. Such a big F. U. to the comic book fans. I actually think there's a lot of stuff in that movie that's a big F.U. to comic book fans. I'm certainly not trying to convert you, just to elaborate on why I dislike it so much. There's room for both opinions!
@@CerealAtMidnight No what I mean by that is I constantly find myself defending this film online, but it's not my place to defend it, is what I meant. Not that I was being dickish to you about me and my love of superhero films lol. I sometimes get very defensive about this movie, I think because I really like it and there seems to be massive hate for it. Hope that clears up my comment...
Luke Dodge . I have actually enjoyed all the DC films thus far. I think much of the praise and critics have been accurate. I think my perspective on these films is like that of how in comic books, writers and artists are always being brought in and changing narratives, or at least I can look at it like an Elseworld story, Often people have too much baggage that they bring with them to superhero films, and I am not trying to claim that I am better than that, but I do try and be honest with myself and not let it ruin the experience. If I was the creative professional behind the projects, would I do things differently, definitely, but I am not and I am just happy watching these characters come to the big screen and provide entertainment.
Dunkirk is a okay war film I'm a major fan of war films and have seen a lot but Dunkirk id give it a 4 out of 10, if you want a good war film watch john waynes back to bataan or memphis belles but that's about the air force but still great movie
I appreciate your sincerity, i don't like Nolan too. His plot are over complicated, he looks like a Cronenberg wanna be sometimes but without the depth of the canadian director. Cheers from Italy!
I don't think you can watch my videos and say that I don't try to take a positive approach or at least use SOME restraint, especially on a platform that seems to feed off of constant outrage and thumbnails of people grabbing the sides of their face. And I also don't think you can say it was 20+ minutes of pure negativity. Some snark? Yes. Pure negativity? No.
TH-camrs don't usually have large BF hauls. They spend all year buying stuff at full price to have things to show off and talk about, that when it comes time for BF they have everything they wanted. Me on the other hand, unless it's a Steelbook I want I don't buy movies or tv shows unless it on BF or in a GW. Games, I have to be a fan of the franchise (Pokemon, Lego) and Anime. I just don't like it, never found one I have enjoyed from start to finish. Even Pokemon went on to long. Ash should have stopped after Johto.
crooked case art irks me too! Have to fix!
Black Friday. The day you pick up the movies you don't want, but need for your collection.

Well zach efron is going to be playing Ted Bundy in a biopic type movie might have some promise.
I feel like we're living on the same wavelength...Me: Gets a big box of crap from Amazon. Wife: WTF? Me: I dunno. It was like four bucks.
Actually, that’s my husband AND I on Black Friday. We do are own orders and then open them together.

Right on. This is how good movie opinions are born. The more you watch, the more you know.

Weird, right? Makes one wonder.
14:10-14:17 that's 7 seconds I'll never get back 🤣 and Zac Efron is playing Ted Bundy in a movie
IT was great. Thats a must watch!!!!
Hello, have you seen Old Boy, with Josh Brolin? Directed by Spike Lee, good and a dark movie. Thank you for the reviews.
No 4K!?? Many of those movie are on 4K!!
I don’t do 4K.
Cereal At Midnight . This comment seems pretty funny in hindsight. It didn’t take long for you to change you mind and actually promote the format.
Why are you buying movies you do not like? I’m not understanding as a movie buff and collector myself
"Jurassic World: Till We All Fall Down" fuckin' made my day, sir. Thank you.
Great pick ups Tomb Raider is a lot of fun . Thanks again for sending me the Birds Blu ray it works great
keep up the good work
I'm glad you got it!
Why did you get the blu rays of the movies that are available in 4K blu rays?
Because I don’t buy 4K movies and I don’t have a 4K tv.
I have the Indicator Harryhausen box sets myself and love them. Where did you grab them for half price, if I may ask? I need to get the Hammer sets.
Thanks!
@@CerealAtMidnight Gremlins.
Great video. Lots of heart in your videos. I love THE SLAYERS. I highly recommend RECORD OF LODOSS WARS too. I appreciate your positivity!
The snarkyness is fine. That's what modern hollywood movies bring to people nowadays
Yeah, but it's not what I want from my channel. I could have conveyed the same opinions without being so snippy. Live and learn.
Sometimes it has to get out. You're allowed a slip up once in a while
im confused why would one buy movies to watch more than once i was doing that and i find myself with a bunch of dvd's collecting dust..
Great Haul. I think 🤔 that Andy Circus did a Christmas Carol Movie.
I hadn't heard anything about it, but I just looked it up and it looks good. Andy Serkis and Guy Pearce doing Dickens for the BBC!
I saw Dune years and years ago. It was in the 90s. I barely remember it, honestly.
How do you feel about DreamWorks movies
Honestly, I'm not really a fan. I find they're missing something, at least for me. But I know I'm in the minority.
One thing I had to add, you will like the "Mike Myers scene" on a variety of levels in Baby Driver.
I remember when I was 5 and I thought Inception was about a man who has superpowers like Doctor Strange. I was so wrong!
Doctor Strange definitely too a lot of the visual look of Inception. The whole “world unfolding” visual was done in Inception first, so you were onto something.
It would be nice to hear a woman's perspective on a movie
Bree often brings her perspective here, especially in our reviews of current movies.
grat video man! did you ever see Burke and Hare? It`s with Andy Serkis and Simon Pegg
I know about Burke and Hare, but I haven’t ever watched it. I need to!
@@CerealAtMidnight so man, you`ll like it! not sure if you know or not, firstly you probably know he play`s king Kong in Peter Jackson`s King Kong, but he always plays the cook on the ship
Got my band of Brothers on DVD from a thrift store for $2.49 !
Okay, that makes me feel better. Maybe it's coming soon. Do you know how they mailed it? USPS or UPS?
USPS
I'm just gonna stare out the window until they come.
*Nods aggressively about the Lorax*
Some good stuff in there. Think your best deal was The Pacific and BoB for under $10.
I like the fact that you give your honest opinions, we're heading at ultra speed to a world where no one is allowed to have a dissonant voice, or he or she is stoned to death on social media. And for the record I agreed with most of what you said, not that we have to agree on everything to have a substantial debate
It’s true, but I was especially salty in this video! I’d say the opinions are still true, just not quite so bitter as I expressed them.
@@CerealAtMidnight being salty once in a while its fun, i enjoyed your video.
Loved your opinion on ‘It’
You should do a follow-up of these movies review of these if you if you like these movies did you watch them tell us if you like them thank you

I thank you
Woah woah woah, The Lorax is an incredible movie. I will admit it would have been a lot better if they did it live action like the Jim Carrey Grinch movie and the Mike Myers Cat In The Hat Movie. Think about it, Danny DeVito painted orange with a big ass mustache while he sprouts out from a tree stump.
You should do a video of your collection
Put the chidden to bed before you watch American Assassins. I there was a shortage of EMS vehicles in that movie LOL
Great pickups! Alot of the movies you picked up I enjoyed. Tomb raider is one that I was surprised about and enjoyed more then the orignal. I love black Friday to dive in the films I was on the fence with. I picked up around 60 titles this year.
Man, you really got some good stuff. All I got was Big bang Theory season 11. I've bought each season every black Friday since like 2011. Lol
@@donnellcoleman7784 yea. I couldn't get into young sheldon. I've watched big bang from the very beginning. Lot of good times!
Mamoa would have been a great Lobo.
Cereal At Midnight . Given you comic collection, it can't be the long hair and beard. Maybe not enough hook hands?
;P
Wonder Woman was fantastic, but other than that the DC films have been anywhere from average to poor. Fingers crossed for Aquaman.
Hi H Love your show hopefully u will do a feature on The Rockford files on Blu Ray keep the good work up patsy
I will indeed! Can’t say when, but it’s on my agenda.
Best picks in my opinion are La La Land and Blade Runner 2049. Top notch stuff. As for good American animated movies outside of Disney, I thought Dreamworks hit it out of the park with How to Train Your Dragon a few years ago...
There seems to be a lot of love for the How to Train Your Dragon Movies. I might have to revisit them.
I rank the Jurassic series:
Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park 3
Lost World
Jurassic World
Jurassic World 2
I believe I agree entirely with your ranking. I might flip Lost World and Jurassic World, just because Jurassic World has Bryce Dallas Howard, but I do agree that Jurassic World 2 is an all-time low for the franchise.
Rumbly in my tummly? LOL
Winnie the Pooh, baby!
Lionheart and Bloodsport are the S°it :) Great movies :D:D:D i really like your videos, subscribed !
Thanks for the sub! Glad you found the channel!
Yeah I’ve *NEVER* heard someone say “I didn’t like Inception” until today... Don’t hate the movie just because you claim to not like Nolan
You got a lot of good films my freind
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom turned out to be better then I expected. We took the kids and expected fluff but we left thinking about what could happen with genetic editing. If you love conspiracy theories this movie will spark some fun conversations about it.
Secret Life of Pets was meh, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, both of those were cute, so were both Rios if we are talking non-Disney animation. Not ~fantastic~, but entertaining for what they were. Angry Birds was... :/ about 2/5, maybe...ish
Glad I could check it out from the library, all I'm sayin'. I need to watch the Paddington movies, speaking of animation, also. I also still need to watch Incredibles 2, but that's Pixar.
:D I love Slayers! I own that box set too
I agree with your policy regarding attitude.
I wear Deadpool shirts :(
I said in the video that if you’re into Deadpool shirts and Funkos then that’s great! I was speaking for myself. We are all different!
Heath I'm just joking with ya
Oh, okay! LOL.
I was disappointed in the Assassin's Creed movie.
John Shain Same here.
My favorite one is the worlds end
You look like a skinny Zach Galifinakis in that thumbnail lol
Sweet pick ups, Heath. You're gonna really dig Baby Driver!
Right there w you with Nolan. VERY overblown.
Re. animated movies... no love for Train Your Dragon ? Kung Fu Panda ? The Despicable films ? Love Disney and Pixar... but Dreamworks puts out some good stuff, IMHO. Picked up RPO on BF for $6. Certainly not as good as the book. But I want to freeze frame my way through the film for all of the pop culture references. Oh, and I enjoy the big dumb dino movies. Both of the JW movies entertained me.
I think i like snarky heath’s take on these movies better
i like a lot of the movies in the haul, well the fairly decent titles
i saw murder on the orient express, and i thought it was rather fun
deadpool, is kinda the superhero equivelant of die hard, both deadpool 1 and 2, do have enjoyable moments
yet i dont susbcribe to the whole notion of reynolds yelling profanity in these films
i prefer reynolds in more family friendly comedies like definately maybe and the proposal,
overall, the action in those films are decent, but the language is Not
Tomb Raider was decent, the setup was weak, the acting was pretty good, but the ending felt a bit rushed.
So... Many... Controversial... Statements... I can't, i just can't 😜
Band of Brothers exist in the tin case, too bad you couldn't get it. The Pacific is fine, but pale in comparison to BoB
Yep band of brothers is great but pacific rim is just ok and seemed to be more of a love story to me.

Cereal At Midnight you are the best TH-cam Channel
Loved the video, loved the snark, loved the honest opinions! I’m actually mostly with you on Christopher Nolan. I think Inception and Memento are amazing, but other than that I think he makes movies that aren’t half as smart or important as he thinks they are. And his fan base will drive you crazy. As always, love how much of a individual you always are!
heath bro in the hooouuseee
I am 44 and I am not afraid to say that I am a new huge fan of Zach Efron. He changes it up all the time and is not afraid to risk looking like a dumb-ass. That being said, he is currently making a movie where he is playing Ted Bundy. Search it out a little here on TH-cam.... he has transformed into Bundy and it is creepy.
Maybe this will be the movie that puts him on the A-list.
You should see crazy Rich Asians it was pretty good your wife would like it
I want to. I'm smitten with Constance Wu. We love Fresh Off the Boat.
Yes pretty good movie with some good laughs.
I thought it was a pretty good movie I seen in a while
The Strangers Prey at Night I gotta say was the worst movie I had ever seen in theaters
The WB DC movies are not that great. But I do like the story arc of Superman being worshipped as a god like figure. Its a realistic view on how ordinary people would treat someone like Superman.
I like that Superman plot too. It came from an Action Comics storyline during the late 80s. Started in Action Comics #601.
RELEASE THE SNARK!!!
totally agree about wonder woman, not a good movie but better than the others just because the others are so bad!
I think my perspective on these films is like that of how in comic books, writers and artists are always being brought in and changing narratives, or at least I can look at it like an Elseworld story,
Often people have too much baggage that they bring with them to superhero films, and I am not trying to claim that I am better than that, but I do try and be honest with myself and not let it ruin the experience.
If I was the creative professional behind the projects, would I do things differently, definitely, but I am not and I am just happy watching these characters come to the big screen and provide entertainment.
Modern DC movies are an absolute embarrassment to the brand. 19:08 - Amen
I can't disagree.
Dunkirk is a okay war film I'm a major fan of war films and have seen a lot but Dunkirk id give it a 4 out of 10, if you want a good war film watch john waynes back to bataan or memphis belles but that's about the air force but still great movie
DCTV is better then the movies, but the shows still have there moment.
DC TV is pretty solid. I think Arrow has been padded a little bit, but that's a problem with just about all episodic television.
I appreciate your sincerity, i don't like Nolan too. His plot are over complicated, he looks like a Cronenberg wanna be sometimes but without the depth of the canadian director. Cheers from Italy!
"CaM is a positive place" after after 20+ minutes of pure negativity. Thought I was watching the news for a second there.
I like most of these films and yes strangers prey at night was bad ass and I'm not a fan of the original but the new one yes
Agreed, I felt that strangers prey at night was better than the original

That tomb raider movie sucked I didn't like it Angelina Jolie did so much better
