  • God told Moses to instruct the Old Testament Israelite woman what to do after they had a child. They were "unclean" until a time of purification had passed and then they were to make atonement. Why would God tell the women this even after He had told them to "be fruitful and multiply" in Genesis? The answer may not be as complicated as you think. Come along in today's bible study through Leviticus chapter 12 as we talk about uncleanness after childbirth in the Old Testament.
The Whole Truth is dedicated to taking you through the entire Bible, from Genesis all the way through Revelation without skipping anything.
This series is through Leviticus, the third book of the Bible. Leviticus can seem confusing and even boring. But, once it is understood, it sheds light and gives insight throughout the entire Bible.

This was stressing me a little, and most of the commentaries pointed back to the original sin. I just wanted to understand because I know that God is good & has no favoritism. Thank you for this explanation. God bless you!

This makes sense. If the birth itself were sinful, than that means God commanded Adam and Eve to sin in the garden of Eden (be fruitful and multiply), and Galatians 2:17 says God is not the minister of sin. If birthing were sinful, then so would marriage be, however we know it's not.

Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation, I’m a woman of God and want to understand how loving God is towards women, I’m so glad he gives us time to rest after childbirth!

it's not about rest we live in a spiritual world what part of child birth is rest
it's about original sin we were all born with it so naturally the woman
gave birth to a sinful child hence why she's unclean unclean is sin
when you commited sins you needed rituals back then
if you disobeyed God touched certain things
your spirit became unclean not your body
HENCE why she had to do ritual
giving birth was not the sin
      but you touched unclean
      baby :)

God looks on the Heart. The core or center (main part) of us is our Soul. Which is encrypted as DNA code. Woven & like a garment. Our DNA is either stained with Sins as a filthy stinky rotting rag or cleansed of Sins as a white robe of Righteousness. Sorry, my comment is off topic but I felt the need to share. God bless.

Thanks so much this really helped!💝 Sorry if this is a dumb question lol but does the old testament still apply to us like for example my cousin is having a baby soon should we not touch her? And does this also go for women on their period?

You do not have a concern. That type of "uncleanness" was ceremonial. We do not follow Jewish law in that way. Jesus is the fulfillment of the law for us.

I wonder what if the woman gave birth to a twins (a boy and a girl). In that case, how many days will she be uncleaned? And what happens to the boy who needed to be circumcised on the 8th day?

    • @Whowells5
      @Whowells5 ปีที่แล้ว

Because she had a male child she would be considered clean to bring her male child and then rest for the time given to her for having a female child.

Does that mean mary sinned because she made the offering

@@TheWholeTruth I understand it was the law but If she didn't sin then wouldn't she be excused from making a sin offering because?
