Slowly noticing some Odd behavior in my betta, I immediately did water testing, but soon realized and noticed that over time she's not eating and she is slimming down a lot. She's about 3 years old now, and she's gone completely blind. I think my friends I'm going to say goodbye to an old pal quite soon.

Hi Chris! That first bowl you looked at is actually filled with cyanobacteria and not algae! I can tell by the teal color and how easily it comes off the glass. It doesn’t take as long as algae to appear but it’s generally a sign that the “tank” needs more frequent water changes or better filtration. Happy Monday!

I love Bettas with a passion. They're so beautiful, come in many varieties, and their personalities are awesome. They're all different. I have two Bettas right now and one loves showing off and chillin' under the Amazon Frogbit, the other is a little bully that's super shy, but he always comes to the top of the tank to greet me when I'm nearby. I can never get enough Bettas, I want another already lol.

My favorite fish of all time, since I was 12, is the Green Terror/Gold Saum. I've pretty much always kept at least one tank with them in it. I branched out of just cichlids decades ago but I always have at least one large cichlid tank with GTs in it.
Currently the thing I'm most obsessed with is our African Dwarf Frogs. We have them in 'my wife's tank' (that I somehow have done 99% of the work on, but it's still hers, smh) that sits in the living room with a betta and some kuhli loaches and a bunch of inverts. Seen them for decades, but never had any before. They're just so much fun.

Also nosy af and get into eeeeeeverything. Mine is almost a year old and she loves to surf the incoming clean water on wc changes.

Once I upgrade my 37 gal community tank to a 75 gallon, my plakat female betta will be moving into the 37 gallon. I am also planning on upgrading my veil tail male from ten gallon to 20 gallon long. I figure I already have the tanks, I won't have to tear down my 37 gallon, my parameters will be more stable, and the bettas will have more space, so why not! They are both currently in ten gallons and honestly it seems small, it would be like me being confined to just my bedroom.

5:35 so since finding your channel I was inspired as an adult to start keeping my own fish and I 100% agree with this statement the fluxing in water definitely makes for a difficult start up but as you’ve mentioned before (Chris) it’s important to be patient and properly cycle your tanks first and I did so not without some stress to my first plattie but I was able to resolve my issues without loss only using a small amount of medication which helped him a lot to recover and bounce back entirely I am now happy to say I have two tanks running at this time and one 45 gallon otw but as a person who really needed help with this I have you and aquarium co-op to thank for my success with my animals and my multiple plants in both my next challenge since both tanks are as stocked as I am comfortable with I am attempting to grow a non co2-ed Julian tear or dwarf grass carpet in the tanks (obviously not the same tank they would compete for resources and space ) but planting is the new challenge until my 45 is ready ❤

Favorite fish..... MMMMMMMMM UHHHH IIIIIII UHHHHHHHH..... probably gourami as a whole but I just love my sparkling gourami. I love the blue green and gold colors and how curious they are. Though I also love corys. And I have a kuhli loach love as well. I love my Pasta Bowl Gang of little noodles. BUT I also super want to have a tank with endlers at some point when I have more space for a few more tanks.

My favorite fish (animal) on this planet is the comet/common goldfish. Until recently they're the only fish I've ever had for the past 20 years. No worries though, mine were always in 55gal or more and are currently in a 300 gal which they're gonna stay in

Tbf that first bowl looked like it had a problem with cyanobacteria, which I swear doubled overnight in one of my tanks. I blinked and it took over everything. Not saying that bowl is perfect (it was clearly very gunky and definitely needed a water change) but yeah.
QoTW: basic answer, but I love bettas. I've formed some special attachments with them over the years. I've never been able to have a very big tank but bettas have so much personality in a small and beautiful package.

On the salt water tank: The rule of thumb is you get 1 either fish or coral, not both. A lot of those fish in there will eat the coral if they get to hungry. So my money is on the coral being fake.

Those fake corals in the saltwater tank is de equivalent of the blue and pink gravel mix in a fresh water tank. That tank is too small for even one individual of some of those fish in there. The one on left lower corner is an angel fish which will get up to a foot long. The blue tang (Dory) will also quickly outgrow this tank. The damsels will kill each other, if the Angel didn’t already do it.
It’s not only overstocked but it’s all the wrong choices put together.

Today (October 10) would of been my first bettas birth day. He died at 1 year old due to what we think was swim bladder. We had a 10 gallon and before we were going to upgrade to a 20 he died. Today he would of been 2 years old and he’s buried in my garden :).

While the betta in the first tank looks fine, why not just go bigger. A 10 gallon is $20 max and with a full upgrade with more plants, I'd say that an upgrade could be done right at under $100.

Honestly corydoras catfish are up there with bettas for favorite fish, but I'll have to go with the killifish for top of that list, though I haven't decided on a top species within the group since I've kept a few least killifish (not true killis), have a few garderi killifish rn and also what might be a golden killifish female that loves hanging out with my female betta I kept in their tank, other female got moved to her own tank by the male since I've ended up deciding against trying to breed him, but she's keeping the tank anyway since they're chill being in sight of each other. Also, the only other killifish species I've seen for sale lately is the golden wonder but I haven't kept any as if right now, and no, the possibly golden I have isn't a golden wonder, it's smth else I can't figure out because random stuff sometimes gets dragged in with the feeders and they might actually be brackish, I just decided not to risk testing that in case it isn't salt tolerant ^^'
